Remember how small the crowds were for Bjork and Noel Gallagher last year on the 6:45/7:00 PM main stage slot? Unfortunately Beck is an act in a similar category.
The last time The Strokes played it was pretty insanely packed. Might not be as bad this time since Robyn is at the same time though.
While I don't agree with this, I'd say Childish Gambino in 2014 is more of a draw to a gov-ball ticket holder than Robyn in 2016, so it might be even more extreme. Which works for me because I'll be at Robyn after I hear like 20 min of the Strokes.

I dunno, I think Beck/Matt & Kim is probably a close crowd split, probably because people will be angling for a Strokes spot. I don't really think the Bjork crowd was that small, just less into it, which probably had a lot to do with her choice of performance and Deadmau5 following on the same stage.
Probably for the same reason Chrvches and TDCC will have the larger of the crowds simply because of Kanye.

Are people equally as excited over The Strokes this year compared to 2014, when it was a novelty to see them at an NYC festival?
And agreed that Bjork didn't make it easy on her audience but I walked all over the main stage area throughout her show and it was so sparse after 45 minutes or so. Of course it didn't help that people surrounding the soundboard were just talking loudly and were more interested in being seen at Bjork.

There will be a huge crowd for The Strokes. They're always a draw because they hardly tour. I don't think Robyn will take away many people.

Definitely.
They may have only played 2 years ago; but it is only the 7th (might be 8th) show they have done in 10 years.
Throw in the fact its a hometown show and they have a new album coming out; and yeah quite alot of people are into this.
10 years? They also toured in 2010/2011 for Angles. But I'll take everybody's word that there's still enthusiasm for them. Hope they switch up their setlist with new material/deep cuts (and play for longer than 70 minutes).
I can see the crowds for Haim vs. Miguel and TDCC vs. Gary Clark Jr. being pretty lopsided. Haim and TDCC are much more popular with the younger demo.
Skip out of TDCC/Gary Clark Jr. and wait for the Guest Spot.. Thank me later.
Edit: Oh wait thats after... anyway just make sure you are in a prime spot for the Guest Spot haha
I know you can't spill the beans, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Gov Ball was able to arrange for James Murphy (and perhaps his LCD cohorts) to pay a visit to Randall's Island on Sunday evening. I imagine they'll be back in NYC by Sunday since they're playing Primavera Sound on Thursday.
I know a few people who bought Friday tickets specifically for Robyn haha. But it is a Strokes hometown show, so we'll see.
My plan is also about 20 min of Strokes and then high tail it over to Robyn; maybe I'll run into you.
Have a person in my group who did the same.......did we just become best friends?
My Friday as of now: Boogie>Y&Y>Action Bronson/end of Bob Moses>OMAM>FJM>dinner>Jamie XX>Strokes for 20, then Robyn>Thundercat aftershow.
Haha
I probably won't make it on Friday till around 3.
My plan is Bully > Christine and the Queens > Action Bronson > Big Grams > either FJM or Duke Dumont (I'll decide day of I guess) > Beck > Jamie xx > Strokes/Robyn > Either Thundercat or Samsung

I know I was joking when I first said it, but damn I got this weird feeling the guest spot if Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff. They did say they would tour in 2016, could be using this as a warm up. Plus if it's just Jazzy Jeff dj'ing with no backing band then that could explain the 5 minute set up time.

This actually seems realistic, and would be awesome.
Does anyone know anything about the Daily Mail Seriously Popular Lounge? It looks to be in the same place as the Samsung Tent from last year. How do you get access this year?

If you click on it in the app you can read a not very thorough description

Jazzy Jeff was just announced for the show in Philly on Saturday, June 4th.

Yes. Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff are totally going to play one of the minor stages at Govball and open for Thomas Jack. This is definitely going to happen.
