I'm going to have a serious 3 1/2 hour window on Saturday in between sets ... besides crawling the island for as much food as I can manage to eat, this will be the 3rd year in a row I wanna try going to the silent disco. Is it even worth it? I always saw the line was out of control. Do they monitor how long you go in for / how long of a wait is it actually to get in?
I was a volunteer in 2014 and staffed the Silent Disco. They do not monitor your time in there, but they are limited by the number of headphones they have.

Apparently, Julian just announced a new Strokes EP on his Sirius XM show, Culture Void. Also, the song that will be debuted today is titled "Oblivious".
Edit: "Future Present Past" is the title of the new EP.

I know some people might be disappointed that it's an EP instead of an LP, but I think this is a smart move on their part. The Strokes have not been a fully functioning band for many years, and the inconsistency of the last two albums reflects this struggle. A new EP will give them a chance to work out the kinks before releasing another full studio album.

Plus it eliminates some of the chance for filler from a band that has a whole lot of filler

Sort of off topic, but this week has had new tunes from Factory Floor, Dinosaur Jr, The Strokes, and maybe The Avalanches tomorrow? My head is spinning.
Just woke up and listened! My initial thought is it is a great track that could have been produced a lot better. I still enjoy the song a great bit but the filter over Julian's voice and the mixing in the falsetto part do take away from it

That's how I've felt about every Strokes album post Room on Fire. They have the worst taste in producers. Their current dude Gus is good, but it all seems kind of flat. That being said, the vocal filter on Julian's voice is probably his own choice as it sounds like his Voidz material.
I feel like everyone is about half as excited as they were for the last Strokes Gov Ball/Cap theatre play. No new music, just seems like a continued cash grab.
Someone asked him on Twitter if The Strokes would be debuting new songs at Gov Ball, and he gave a coy but noncommittal response along the lines of "You'll just have to wait and see". So who knows? It would be disappointing if they didn't play at least one or two new songs, especially after that rumor about a new single earlier this year.
I highly doubt a festival organizer has consulted with the band as to what their setlist will be. Anyways, The Strokes are at that point in their career where no one really cares if they put out new music or not. Think about it, does the world REALLY need another Strokes record in 2016? It will just take up more setlist space for the oldies leading fans to decry "WTF NOT ENOUGH OLD SONGZZZ!"
