I can see the highest billed act on the crossword being of monsters and men or justice. i think they would save most of the top 2 lines of acts for the big announcement.

Jeez I thought govball was getting a little ahead of themselves with these lineup clues, but then Hangout goes and drops it's full lineup. Now I'm thinking we might be getting our lineup sooner than I thought.
Why is this happening earlier and earlier every year? Is it just because of the increasing amount of competition? I was also thinking this might have something to do with the GNR reunion and maybe those few festivals announcing their lineups once the band makes the announcement.

Pretty much over saturation and the festivals are trying to get ahead of the game and make them money back. I feel like this will be the norm moving forward, unless some festivals start folding!
The Hangout lineup is great news for us! No Calvin Harris (cause I'm sure GV won't wanna share him) and no Flume (had him last year) and no Weeknd (they're claiming his only fest appearance) and Grimes is definitely touring and I feel she's highly likely. I'm mainly excited most of their top end stuff being out of the question for one reason or another, so that could/should lead to some more rare, great stuff like Bjork this year. I'm hoping for one or more of Radiohead/Arcade Fire/Chemical Brothers/Massive Attack (I know none of those are really likely)
Urghhh well I hope the Queens situation is resolved soon. I'm very tempted to just buy FF passes.
Firefly isn't going to be an instant sell out or anything. If I were you I would wait and compare.
the anticipation is going to kill. Of course the two fests that release lineups are two that I had already written off cause I didn't them to be any good
Gov Ball aren't announcing until the Queens festival situation is resolved. City hasn't weighed in one way or another.
Firefly and Hangout announced early because they both lost money last year. Trying to give themselves as wide of a sales window as possible and take advantage of holiday shopping.
Impossible. Firefly is swimming in cash after all those $4 water bottles they forced everyone to buy. Then again, their own incompetence led to them giving away like 100 passes.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief

The Governors Ball lineup is kind of a bit of a let down so far I feel like. A really surprising amount of crossovers with Firefly too. Based on all the acts that seem relatively confirmed (FJM, A$AP, M83, Catfish, Chvrches) only one of them isn't on the firefly lineup. Hopefully they're saving their best stuff for later.

I don't see a problem with crossover unless you're planning on going to both festivals.

This seems to be the story for GovBall every year for me. Bands I legitimately like, but have chances to see around home or at fests I already go to.

I'd expect half of Firefly's lineup popping up at govball, and the other half at Panorama.
The crossover doesnt bother me, as these are all acts I expected to show up at every festival next year anyways.

I thought Gov Ball would be something really great after grabbing Yeezus in 2013 and The Strokes/Outkast in 2014. This year's was kind of meh and it kind of looks like next year will follow unless they got some killer headliners.
that's what I'm hoping for. , Did they actually get the really good headliner(s) you were excited about or did talks fall through or are they still sorting it out?

I'll back track from my previous statement of "one of the best." Just to taper expectations.
Things changed. And another festival trying to happen two weeks later split the talent pool. But if that other festival doesn't happen, you'll get one really good festival instead of two just okay. I am happy with who I know of, and what they were working with. If the other festival doesn't happen, they'll nab some very solid names.
gotcha, it's a bummer that they will end up screwing each other if Panorama happens
I mean they were able to book M83 and CHVRCHES both acts that are playing other Goldenvoice festivals so it seems like they are holding their own against Panorama.

I'm mostly excited to see what headliners they bring to the table, because neither major fest that has released lineups so far has brought anything exciting or exclusive.
