Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
With these suggestions, Bonnaroo may as well cancel hip hop. Or, if they're going to get cartoon rappers like Busta Rhymes, they may as well get MC Scat Cat also.
Busta Rhymes is great. The fuck are you talking about?
I could never get into him. I liked Leaders of the New School, but quit paying much attention to him after Woo Hah except for the videos I'd occasionally see. I guess because I was hearing Biggie, Pac, Nas, and Jay. They just made him seem clownish.
I see someone pointing out problems and not offering any solutions. Enlighten us.
I haven't given it much thought, I'm just trying on grumpy this morning to see what it feels like. Some suggestions I've seen that I would enjoy include Ghostface, Action Bronson, Vince Staples, Chance, Joey Bada$$. I'm not into Rocky much, but could see him and/or Earl returning. Yr Old Droog and Pharcyde would be cool, but I don't see Roo booking them.
You're not grumpying very well because you said, "With these suggestions, Bonnaroo may as well cancel hip hop." and then suggested "Ghostface, Action Bronson, Vince Staples, Chance, Joey Bada$$" which every single person has suggested seven times. With suggestions like that Bonnaroo might as well cancel hip-hop.....or so I've heard.

Yeah. That's why I stated those were some suggestions I've seen that I liked. Those particular choices would be good bookings for a fest trying to tap into what is hot currently in the genre.
2 Chainz puts on the best rap show I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them (this includes his pre-headlining set for Outkast in ATL). Dude has or is on an insane amount of hits.

For real. He's a little bit bigger than he used to be (clothing size, not billing placement) but he's still awesome and has hip hop royalty status as far as I'm concerned.
I've been requesting Busta Rhymes for years. I want him in the Big Boi slot.

There's a lot of great songs that are underrated/forgotten about from his many albums. Most of his big hits or singles are silly fun but he's got a lot of great skill and storytelling. Now I'm going to have to go back and listen to a bunch of Busta.

I've got hopes and dreams.
If there is another rapper headlining, I imagine it will be Drake. Possibly Jay-Z. My dream is to have a Jay and Bey dual headline set.
Other mid car mentionables: Tyler, The Creator or just all of Odd Future Kid Cudi Lupe Fiasco Dilated Peoples Brother Ali Schoolboy Q Trinidad James Andre 3000

Just some ideas.
All of Odd Future isn't happening any time soon. They're all doing their separate things now. Sadly Trinidad James has fallen off and will probably never recover.

Jurassic 5 A Tribe Called Quest or Q-Tip Hip Hop Superjam Flatbush Zombies Underachievers Pro Era Busta Rhymes Earl Sweatshirt Death Grips Action Bronson Riff Raff BADBADNOTGOOD Death Grips Jay Rock Ab-Soul Chance the Rapper RZA People Under The Stairs
I'd be happy with any combination of these acts on the line up.
Snorest Hills Drive is garbage. It's not suitable for grown ups. Please stop talking.
Arguing music like this is kind of silly because obviously music is subjective. But you're fucking wrong and you need to respect artistry
Thank you. Music is obviously subjective. A lot of nastiness and hatefulness in this thread over simple taste. Hipsters as well.
I like Cole & Drake, would be more than happy to see either of them at the farm.
2014 FHD wasn't for everybody. I continue to believe Cole hasn't outdone The Warm Up or Friday Night Lights with any of his albums. Some of the shit he says sometimes just makes me cringe. But Cole is a nice, honest, humble, & genuine artist. Something you don't see to often. He does a lot for his fans, and I respect him for that.
I will say Cole definitely stepped up on the production side of things with FHD. Very impressed with how well handled.

I mean looking at the hip hop acts we got at Bonaroo this year (this is going off my memory so forgive me if I forget some names): Dej Loaf Raury Atmosphere Kendrick Lamar Run The Jewels Childish Gambino Shabazz Palaces Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Mick Jenkins
Plus the hip hop thrown into Superjam and Earth, Wind, & Fire.
I thought they did a decent job of giving variety, and I was pleased with about everyone I saw.
As for who I think could be there next year,
I really wouldn't see Nas coming back being a stretch if he ends up getting any of the two major projects he's working on finally out. I know he's working on a collab album w/ Premo and his follow up to Life Is Good. Been 3 years and he's dropped hints, so who knows. (Also talked about finally releasing "The Lost Tapes 2", which might be my most anticipated project out of the three)
J Cole and Drake are both likely candidates. Possibly even Wayne, I don't think the Carter V will finally get out till early 2016.
I could see Ghostface coming after he drops Supreme Clientele 2. I don't really know the likely hood of BBNG being there when they haven't been tour this year together.
Vince Staples I could very well see coming up to the farm, after the success he had with Summertime 06.
I could see Fashawn maybe getting a lower card spot with the minor success of his latest LP.
I honestly thought Joey Bada$$ should have been slated for this year.
Big KRIT is going to drop a new album this year and he's playing Forecastle this year, so maybe he could show up at Roo next year.
Also two possibilities for the legend slot, I could see DMX or The Game making it up to The Farm.
Now for a wishlist....
GZA I honestly think Method Man and Redman are a more likely chance for 2017. They are both working on their own respective solo releases (Muddy Waters 2 & Crystal Meth), and I know they are planning on working on Blackout 3 and How High 2 after they are done with their solo albums. Blackalicious I'd love Del The Funky Homosapien to show up in any form, whether it be with the Hiero crew or Deltron or by himself. The Coup Aesop Rock Brother Ali Rakim Lecrae Mobb Deep Onyx O.C. Madvillain (Not as unlikely as you think) M.O.P. Common
I don't often agree with you, but this is the truth. What a fucking idiotically tone-deaf name for a hip-hop thread. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, given the thread's author, but still.
I think it's a J Cole lyric which makes the thread name worse and proves how mediocre he is.

I guess I should be thankful he didn't use the full line J. Cole says there.

I definitely agree. I just saw him perform with Pro Era for Steez Day yesterday and he was awesome! He is a top notch lyricist and an excellent performer.

Missy Elliott was SO super disappointing at Essence Fest last week. If she does get booked, hopefully she gets her shit together, plays whole songs, doesn't bring out other artists to perform WHOLE songs while she changes clothes and actually starts on time. I didn't mind the lipsyncing as much as the constant talking, cutting off tracks 1/3 through and not performing.

Oh man, that is super disappointing. I've been super hyped for her new album specifically because I was hoping that it would put her on the radar for booking festivals next year. Bummer :/

The disappointment was unreal. Everyone around us was complaining about her performance as well. She would start off and you'd start dancing, and then she would stop and be like, "hold up, hold up, hold up, y'all. I've been doing this for 20 years." "I can't hear you!" "I love saying that." She did play her hits, well 1/3 of them. Like the first verse, the chorus and maybe part of the next verse and boom... hold up and talkie talk.
It's one thing when the artist has almost 2 hours to perform, but its a completely different story when they have like 45 mins. All the talking she did, she could have sang whole songs. Luckily, Common, Erykah Badu, and Usher made up for Missy. But it was definitely a bummer.

You guys trash J.Cole but haven't heard Fire Squad? That was a pretty big song off Forest Hills Drive. I can understand where people are coming from not liking him, but damn has anyone actually given him a chance? You guys talk about him like he's Wale or something
