I don't really care one way or the other. Haven't given all of his music a legit chance but also wasn't wowed by the stuff that I did hear. I thought he was surprisingly great as an SNL host.
I used to hate on Drake pretty strongly (because it's fun), but over the weekend I gave Nothing Was the Same a serious listen. It's not bad. The hooks are strong and the beats are good. I'm really not crazy about his voice, and I don't care for his flow at all. But for what it is, I understand the popularity. He's culturally massive but everyone once in a while I hear people throw is name in during GOAT talks and I think that's absolutely insane. He's marketed well and is an incredibly successful pop artist, but he's an alright rapper and a subpar lyricist.

I was legitimately shocked when the topic of "Who is the current king of hip hop" was popping up on music sites and it was between Kanye, Kendrick, and Drake. Kanye and Kendrick I understood but out of ignorance for Drake's music and his popularity I could not believe he was even being considered at the same level.

Drake's voice and flow are annoying to me. He gets the best beats though because he prints his own money.
He's not GOAT, I can't believe he's even in the conversation for some people as GOAT. He's not even top 25! Killer Mike is more likely to be GOAT than Drake. So in addition to his voice and flow and general topics of his writing, I'm also annoyed by his popularity.
In short - he sucks. But I acknowledge that occasionally his music doesn't.

Kanye himself admitted on Sway's show that Drake was the hottest artist in Hip Hop a couple of years ago. Or he at least succumbed to Sway's suggestion.
he's alright. Undoubtedly he'll be unopposed at Landmark, and I don't dislike him enough to like leave early on Friday in protest or anything. But I also won't be super enthused going into his set - he's very "meh" to me.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

He's definitely closer to being "the best out" than just "having some bangers" in my opinion. Disclaimer, I put a lot more stock on commercial success and cultural impact when discussing how "great" someone is than most people on here, and Drake has completely owned that for a minute now. He's also been able to do it without pandering too much to a bunch of major label rap cliches. He's still the same awkward half jewish, too-emotional, self-deprecating, Canadian, ex-childstar that he was when he came up, and he's very upfront and self-aware about it. Who would have thought someone with that profile would be where he is right now? Never change, Drizzy.
Kendrick and Kanye's music is a couple of notches above his though.
He's a cool dude with some quotable lyrics. I remember when I used to hate him back around 2011/2012 or whenever Young Money was really big. When Nothing Was The Same came out I started to give him another chance. There were still songs I hated like Wu Tang Forever and The Language. But I love If You're Reading This It's Too Late. It's such a fun album to listen to. Even though Quentin Miller basically wrote all of my favorite songs. I still think Drake took them to a different level. But anyways I don't take Drake 100% seriously, but there is a certain charm to his music.
I hated him, then I learned to embrace his particular brand of semi-embarrassing pop music, and kind of loved him. Now I'm on the downward slide back to hating him, or at least wishing that someone like Kendrick or Pusha T or whoever would just drop real, honest-to-God diss tracks on him and be done with it.
Well I think we're in luck

What are they going to diss him for? He admits to pretty much everything people make fun of him for, and almost every time he brags its "I'm more popular and relevant than any of you" which is objectively true.
