Sirius XM Tales from the Golden Road | John Mayer | 3/27/16 | Audio Only
I've only listened to about a third of the first hour but I'm really impressed with Mayer. He seems to have a firm grasp on the nature of the Dead's music, the fans, the jamming, and his role in the whole thing. I think fans of the Dead, fans of jambands, or guitar nerds will enjoy this.
Amazon just dropped off my copy of circles around the sun...neal tells a good story about the experience in the liner notes.
one of my favs last year. walking into soldier field last summer, hearing it everywhere - - I still remember it. Made my buddy and I feel even more relaxed. It was unique, for sure.

Yeah, I was on the couch, but as soon as it started playing I thought it was outtakes from Dead rehearsals, and then i was looking forward to all of the breaks to hear more.
I picked up the new release of the Grateful Dead July 8, 1978 show at Red Rocks (http://www.dead.net/show/july-8-1978), and it's incredible. The sound quality is excellent since it's from an old Betty board. The band themselves are in top form, and there's a ton of energy throughout the entire set.
If anyone was on the fence about getting this, get it - the second set is phenomenal with Estimated Prophet > The Other One > Eyes of the World, and then later with Wharf Rat > Franklin's Tower > Sugar Magnolia. It also has a killer encore with Terrapin Station > One More Saturday Night > Werewolves of London
Looks like Phil songs are in play now too. I'd be really pumped to see a Box of Rain.
Weir also noted Phil Lesh’s signature composition “Box Of Rain” would be great for Mayer to sing, “The vocal register is right in John’s wheelhouse. I think I’ve talked him into it.”
We were sitting on the patio last night and my wife asked me why i wasn't going to Charlotte. I have no idea how the show crossed her radar, but now I'm going to Charlotte.

....would love a throwing stones.
That's a pretty cool wife right there! Awesome man!
I am hoping for a UJB opener tonight in Charlotte ("ain't no time to hate"), along with plenty of other semi-political songs: Liberty, Throwing Stones, Morning Dew, along with, of course, the obligatory Charlotte-featured Promised Land, and maybe Truckin with the 80's sex change line?! hahaha I dare Bobby to do it!!!!!!!
SET 1: [7:30pm - 8:38pm] The Music Never Stopped, Cold Rain and Snow, Friend of the Devil, They Loved Each Other, Liberty, Cassidy, Promised Land
SET 2: [9:15 - 11:00] Eyes of the World > Deal > Estimated Prophet > Drums > Space > Feel Like a Stranger > Black Peter > Turn on Your Lovelight
Looks like there wasn't an encore at this particular show due to the strict curfew at the venue. Hopefully to allieviate this for future shows they'll either take a shorter break or start earlier
Hope all who went had a great time!

i mean, a 6-song second set with 30-minute drumspace isn't exactly incredible to me, but to each their own.
It was the first show of the tour, of course it wouldn't be perfect...I wasn't there, but I thought the setlist looked good and from what I heard they sounded good..
Hopefully Hartford they'll have worked out any issues there were

dustin' off those rusty strings one more time since 6 months ago........... I am sure tonight will be even better!
Plus they were working with an 11pm curfew.......would be helpful if their start time was closer to start time and their intermission was a bit shorter
SET 1: Jam> Truckin'> Smokestack Lightning> Bertha , Playing in the Band > Bird Song > Tennessee Jed > Shakedown Street > Passenger >Bird Song, Casey Jones
SET 2: Help on the Way > Slipknot!> Franklin's Tower > Scarlet Begonias> Fire on the Mountain, Lady With A Fan > Terrapin Station> Drums > Space> The Other One> Wharf Rat> Franklin's Tower
ENCORE: Touch of Grey
I tuned in to watch the first set through Red Bull TV and they sounded phenomenal.
I'm sure patch will find something to complain about, but this show was on another level imo. Donna Godchaux joined them once Bertha started playing and stayed with the band for the whole set - it was great

I think the complaint here is that that set is pretty cheesy.

"Cheesy"? Seriously? Did we listen to the same show?
I would love that kind of setlist at either show I'm going to.
