It will be interesting to see how the new ticketing system pans out. I wish they'd only be making part of the Tennessee Theater separately ticketed (front half or two-thirds of orchestra, with the rest being GA pass holders). Feel like it's definitely a gamble on their part.
I think them doing a third of the theater as GA would cause problems in that everyone would bank on having space there and not buy the separate tickets and then you end up with issues of low tickets sales then a bunch of pissed off people on the night of the show. The piece of it that surprises me more is that Tennessee tickets are only available to GA pass holders. It limits your potential pool of buyers. In the long term, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them open up the daily Tennessee tickets to everyone (possibly at a higher cost) once GA pass holders have had an adequate opportunity to purchase tickets since they note that seats will be assigned at a later date based off date of purchase.

I don't know if you saw this in the comments section on Facebook:
Can tickets for Tennessee theater shows be bought at the fest? I'm not comfortable buying tickets to shows without knowing what else is playing.
.. if tickets remain, yes, but there is limited capacity at the Tennessee Theatre. We would like to encourage folks to purchase their Theatre evening performance tickets as part of their weekend or daily pass purchase.
This makes me a bit happier. I'm fully expecting the schedule to be packed but there is hope.

Thanks - I did. I guess the more I thought about it, the more this wasn't much of an issue for me... The Thur & Fri night shows, though fantastic, aren't in my "top tier picks" given the competition. So chances are pretty good that I'll want to be at an alternative show. And if not, I'm optimistic that there will still be a seat available for purchase when the schedule is posted. Definitely picking up a ticket for Saturday night. While there may end up being a conflict, chances are very good that Glass & Anderson will win in their time slot, so I'm OK with the $30 gamble... Even if I change my mind, I'm still paying less than I did last year!

ANDY STOTT, NICOLAS JARR, AND THE RETURN OF BEN FROST! FUCK YEA!!!
I'm still not convinced that you weren't abducted by aliens while out in the desert during Coachella in 2013, and replaced by a replicant with inexplicably decent taste in music.
Ehh, I got older, matured, as did my musical pallet.

I listened to Kiasmos's self-titled album while working this afternoon, and I loved it. I'm hooked. +1 for Big Ears!
I tried to describe it to a friend as part of a long text about Big Ears artists yesterday, and failed pretty badly. This morning, I had it on again while showering, and during "Thrown" it hit me. Kiasmos reminds me of Deadmau5. It hit me again hard a few tracks later during "Bent" too.
This post can double as a Bat Signal for Phyre Fest

Yea I can definitely hear it with their similar modular synth progressions. Kiasmos is definitely my favorite find so far on the lineup.

You know... nothing about the ticketing had irritated me until last night... when I suddenly realized that my group of friends wouldn't be able to sit together for any of the Tennessee shows we choose to go to (unless one of us agrees to pay for all of our tickets, including the weekend pass, at once). Which isn't going to happen. Since I think I'll only be going to one TT show this time around, it's not that big of a deal... but I bet this is going to be an issue for people who are attending all 3.
This years lineup just blows everything out of the water. The only North American performance of Outside the Dream Syndicate? YLT AND Lambchop? An Evening with Laurie Anderson and Philip Glass American debut? This lineup is stuff dreams are made of. I'm not surprised it's selling well.
They have always been good about giving people advance notice.

I was just thinking of SotL and how I was wrong. Still crossing fingers for that but, at this point, it's doubtful. I would think they would be a high up name. Friday looks like it might be 3 names short and Saturday just 1. Hoping we get some additions later on down the road.
Getting my hopes up for Christina Vantzou. This new album is just stunning.
