They said it was a Big Ears alum which narrows the field considerably. She's done a lot of stuff with Bonnie Prince Billy, but he hasn't been to Big Ears before.

That's what I keep going back to. What's odd is the Big Ears FB page helped promote a Bijou show in 2010. There was also Tim Kinsella but again, he hasn't played before. I know she's toured with Grouper but I don't think that's it.

A Haxan Cloak set in the Bijou ala Ben Frost would be incredible. As would Battles, imo.
The freak out has begun. It's my birthday tomorrow, so we will just call that my early present from Big Ears. I'm not sure why I ever had any doubts. The Necks was one of the five million reasons I hated missing 2010.
The Necks are the greatest jazz band out of Australia (unless Cap'n Mac wants to school me). I flip flop every record between them and the Dead C as to who holds the Best Down Under Band Ever title.

Correction / shameless plug time: the greatest jazz band out of Australia are none other than Lord St Collective and their many supremely talented collaborators (of which I might be one... oh so modest). It's not strictly jazz, but a beautiful blend of hip hop, jazz, and soul - as told by a saxophone, double bass, brass, insane keyboardists and vocalists, all backed by those beautiful jazzy drum fills. Mmmph. I can't actually find a lot of jazzy stuff on their Soundcloud, but those who have seen my Snapchats can attest it gets far jazzier.
We were doing a weekly jam night that had gotten quite big, until our resident venue dicked us over and told us they were closing on a day's notice. So we're kinda sorta homeless at the moment. But we shall rise again! There's a bi-weekly jazz / hip-hop jam on tonight, and the house band shares a lot of the same members as Lord St, but it's not quite the same.
