You seem to have taken that way too seriously (ironically).
It doesn't have so much to do with their rating on this particular album. I myself don't think it is exactly amazing. But Pitchfork has a history of bullshit pretentious album reviews. Nobody should take their opinions legitimately.

Says the guy who just got super pissed off about the Miley Cyrus review and went and posted a lit review of the history of ways Pitchfork has aggrieved him. Their reviews are often ridiculous and pretentious. Everyone knows this.

While we're on the subject, I actually really respected this take down of the new Night Beds album they did a few weeks ago. The thrust of it was "we really respect the guy for going WAY out of his comfort zone a trying to do something different, but he failed miserably."

You should reread what I just wrote and have consistently written in this thread (ie Miley Cyrus album). And if you agree Pitchfork reviews are "ridiculous and pretentious," why even bring it up as if what they have to say has any merit? That's what got me "super pissed off" (not really, just pointing out that the thought that goes into a Pitchfork album review is on par with Miley Cyrus lyrics)

You said "nobody should take their opinions legitimately," which means people DO take their opinions legitimately, despite your enlightened guidance on the subject. The fact is Pitchfork reviews matter. Probably more than any other publication. I thought people would be interested to know what they said.
Also, I said they are "often ridiculous." Some of the writers are quite good.

I laughed out loud when the reviewer calls that album Yellen's "65 minute opus where he sounds like a Weeknd in Dixie." Then his main criticism is that the album was not contemporary nor futuristic enough. It seemed to me he was more letdown by the style change and I doubt a new artist would have gotten as bad of a review. There were many cringe worthy moments on Ivywild, I still enjoyed Serotonin and a few other tracks.

If this happened it'd be a "Miley Cyrus and The Flaming Lips" set and it wouldn't be a headlining set (though it'd be billed top 6, maybe even number 4), it'd kind of have to be a thing where Miley just wanted to do it and was willing to take less then headliner money because I really really don't see Roo booking her as a headliner even if she's big enough
That being said, I honestly could kind of see it. I bet she'll want to play some of this stuff live and I'm really not sure you can do a pop tour with this material, and it wouldn't really go along with most of the rest of her stuff at all. If she did a tour playing mostly this album your general pop audience would probably not receive it well. Bonnaroo kind of seems like a great place for it and kind of fits in with the image she is going for, and The Flips have obviously played it before so they might would give her the recommendation. At Roo she could do a set of just material from this album (maybe throw in some Flaming Lips stuff) and people wouldn't be mad about that probably.
I mean its probably pretty unlikely, but I think its possible. But I'd be willing to bet if it does happen its not a top 3 headliner. A late night Which thing could maybe happen though
i havent listened to the whole album but i actually kind of liked what I heard, that P4K review was stupidly harsh. I mean some of the songs are meh and as a whole its definitely overly long and has a few stupid things (like for example I think Slab of Butter is a pretty damn cool song but why the horrible intro?), but theres a couple songs I like a good bit. And I gotta give her props for releasing something thats so out there compared to most other pop people, and still releasing it as a really high profile release (i mean it was free, but it was announced at the VMAs which was airing on a ton of channel)
"And this was the setup for Nicki's show-stopping call-out during her acceptance speech for her Best Hip-Hop Video award, a moment that put Miley on the defensive for the rest of the night. However orchestrated that moment may have been, it made Nicki look righteous, and Miley look woefully out of touch, sputtering in her defense ("we all say things in the press,") from underneath a neon visor as two giant eyeballs drooped off of her breasts. She looked like the rich girl whose birthday party everyone’s parents forced them to go to, if that girl was also wearing white dreadlocks while defending herself from being implicated in systemic pop cultural racism."
The inforoo Facebook page has a post filled with people praising this album, the bonnaroo reddit seems split on the topic though slightly more positive than negative.

Some people on this board try too hard to be "indie" and miss some great music in the process. Strip music of its labels, genre, and press coverage and some might actually discover unique talent in the most unexpected places.
I find it interesting how divergent Inforoo on Facebook and the actual Inforoo boards have become. Not to derail this fine thread, but I thought it worth mentioning.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I just wonder how that ended up happening. I remember joining Inforoo and the Inforoo Facebook page around the same time, and then leaving the Facebook group for good because I just couldn't stand it anymore.

Or maybe we don't have shit for brains.
I think it's the other. Some people are just close-minded to certain types of music. lol. It's okay but at least own it. Some pop songs turn into classics. Not saying Miley's ever will, but...
