-I'm hesitant to vote along with a couple of the people with votes on Potent and Jaz.
Mind expanding on that?
- I'd be voting along with the person that the situation makes look innocent.
Are you talking about me in this remark, or am I misreading it?
If I'm going to be in the runoff, I think a Jazmo/Rothric runoff is the way to go. Jazmo might not be Mafia, but he's more suspicious to me then Potent. I know my vote is on Potent atm, but that's just to keep the runoff right now. Not trying to make a move to vote Jazmo straight off.
Wish some others would chime in, been the same few discussing things so far.
So what I'm hearing is that you guys want to go into another official round to do the 2-person run off?
We can probably do it without resorting to procedure and adding an extra runoff.
I would have went from Potent to Jazmo had SFA not moved to Rothric first. I tested Potent and seen if anyone was gonna stick up for him. Nobody took the bait, so either Mafia is willing to cut a limb to save the body, or Potent is town. I'm leaning towards option 2.
Someone needed to do something, looks like I'm (one of) the only one(s) that isn't going to be a scared little bitch.

I usually prefer to not list out who my gut is telling me to be weary of this early because it's simply guesswork. Plus, if I were to get whacked it would might unfairly put a target on people's back. I will say I highly doubt it's a coincidence that the quietest players were all sitting on votes for those heading for a lynching/another runoff.
A couple of them haven't really satisfied me with their responses at all. Again, just instinct and natural weariness of some of the players I know. Nothing really worth expanding on yet.
- I'd be voting along with the person that the situation makes look innocent.
Are you talking about me in this remark, or am I misreading it?
Nope, Potent. He seemed the most innocent when looking at the situation. So that seemed the best way to have a chance of not unknowingly voting along with the mafia.

Pretty much agree with this. This was the runoff I'd been wanting. Not really for anything you two had done but because It would force more interesting moves.
I'd like to.be more involved, but work simply won't let up. Early mornings and late nights. Short staffed and too much workload piled on. Monday is my last day then I'm off for 7 days with nothing to do but play mafia. This is my excuse for my silence, but at the same time, what is there to say really....
My thoughts thus far, I'm willing to bet neither of the 3 in the runoff are mafia, given how quiet and it's been, and just standard day one history of striking out(at least in games I've played). Even when there's talk, there's very little argument. This game is much softer than it use to be. The new breed of mafia players are sweet gentle creatures, who likely have a bit of Canadian heritage in their blood lines. It makes it boring, and much less talkative. Day One is just random bullshit (worn out cliche at this point).
If I changed my vote now, it'd be for someone I don't find any more or less suspicious than Jaz All I would accomplish is adding fuel to the fire down the road for someone to question why I changed. Call it self preservation, but I prefer to leave the bullshit at the door and let the votes and whacks dictate where the suspicions lay. Less is more sometimes (look at last game). Blabbing of theories that lack any evidence, of which there is none of on day one, just dilutes things.

Or the third option: you posted on a Friday night, leading right into the slowest time of the week for Inforoo. It's quite likely that a majority of members haven't been in a position nor had the desire to devote their Saturday to analyzing Mafia. Then after 17 hours of your vote being out there with no movement - and over 50-something hours left in the round - you up and decide that this sufficiently takes suspicion of of Potent, and we might as well just vote someone straight off based on this? No way. It's the weekend. They have lots of time. In this situation it makes more sense for the Mafia to be patient, and only make a move when necessary in the hopes that the townies will do their work for them. And perhaps they have.
When you first made your vote to make it 4-5-2, I noted that almost guarantees that I'll be in the runoff. There would have only needed to be one vote switch to make it 5-5 with me and Potent, whereas three votes would have to move to put Rothric in against Potent, and two votes would have to move to make it Jazmo/Rothric. So that move distinctly puts Rothric at an advantage over me in terms of runoff odds (though admittedly I was surprised to see two votes move to Rothric instead of one onto me). Really made me put my guard up as to whether or not LD wanted to either have me voted out because of something I had said earlier, or if he wanted to save Rothric. Or possibly both, since I had mentioned something about both of them.
So then SFA and LD move to Rothric, putting both he and I in the runoff. Naturally Rothric moved to me, with both LD and Rothric are suggesting that someone (re: me) gets voted straight off.
Now perhaps the connection I'm seeing between LD and Rothric isn't there, and LD moving his vote onto Rothric would certainly support that. Perhaps LD is town; perhaps Rothric is. Perhaps they both are. I just want to point out two things:
1. LD's power move of switching to Potent put me at a distinct disadvantage, and that disadvantage is playing out now. I'm town, obviously making me someone the Mafia wants to vote out, so if I die this round keep in mind who put things in position to play out this way. I'm not convinced LD is Mafia or anything like that, but it was certainly a power move regardless of what team he's playing for.
2. There seems to be some agreement that Potent is less suspicious because no one came to save him - I disagree with the reasoning behind that because I don't think 17 hours on a weekend with over two days of play left is enough to conclude that the Mafia wouldn't have made a move and that therefore Potent is town, but even barring that - look who now only has two votes: Potent. Maybe no one made a move after LD moved on to Potent, but Potent certainly seems to be "saved" now.

I am going to assume most people playing have checked the Mafia thread today. I worked 12 hours today, what's their excuse? Speaking of excuses, maybe you should stop making them for other people's shitty play. First off, Potent can still get voted out. Second, we're basically only playing with seven people because shit - you can't get some of these guys talking during the "busy" time on Inforoo. I forgot Tainted and Sleepy were playing, that's how quiet they've been.
Also, I'm not above killing anyone in this game. I'm either winning or dying. And knowing me, this is what's going to happen: I survive the night, cause I talk a gang of shit. Mafia tomorrow during the day tries to turn it against me. A couple of dumb motherfuckers go along with it, and I go out in a blaze of glory. The Mafia, unless we body one today, will coast to an easy victory.

SFA makes some good points about Potent. And I'm not going to lie, LD, I find your reasoning very suss. I'd definitely like a bit more discussion to suss out people's motives before voting someone straight off. So...
I'd like to.be more involved, but work simply won't let up. Early mornings and late nights. Short staffed and too much workload piled on. And that's all I've got to say about that.
Recent games say otherwise. From memory and a little research over the games since I last played. Mafia 70 - Mafia member survived 4 way runoff. Mafia 71 - n/a (Inspector voted out) Mafia 72 - n/a Mafia 73 - Mafia survived 4 way runoff. mafia 74 - Mafia voted out during round one runoff. Mafia 75 - thread was erased? mafia 76 - n/a Mafia 77 - Two mafia in RID3. Mafia voted off in D1R4 Mafia 78 - Mafia member survived D1R3. Mafia 79 - Mafia voted off in D1R4 Mafia 80 - Two mafia in 4 and 3 way runoff. mafia voted out in D1R3 mafia 81 - n/a Mafia 82 - One mafia survived 4 way runoff.
First, I realize you weren't involved in the majority of these. I'm not trying to be all "Got ya!" But the mafia do have a long history of ended up in Day 1 trouble. Hence why I feel the mafia was happy with the way the runoff was heading. That, along with the silence, made it clear to me that changing things around would likely increase the odds of us actually getting a mafia member in the second runoff. Maybe it wouldn't but sitting around doing nothing certainly isn't helpful for the town.

As stimulating as it has been to absorb the day 1 exchange, it is rather meaningless to over communicate on day 1. With respect to your diatribe in particular - congratulations! You found two people commenting less and have made a verbal account of it and on day 1 too! - impressive. I always find when i want people to talk, I use my vote or my big boy words to spur conversation by asking them questions and not just stomping my feet and crossing my arms.

And going out of your way to be sarcastic about everything is somehow better?
Phyre Fest, now that you can see you are part of the deciding vote for me, are you planning on leaving it on me? Same with Cap'n Mac, you're initial move to me was to even it up.
And just to be clear, I am NOT asking for an extension. I want to get this round over with so the town has more info to go off. If I'm the one that's lynched, so be it. Hopefully the town can glean some useful info from it.
Been out all damn day. Half asleep. Guess I'll even shit up. Way too fucking tired to post any kind of analysis.
Phi > Rohtric
I def dont want the deciding vote.
Your vote for me makes it 6 - Rothric, 5 - Jazmo, and is the deciding vote at this point. Sleepy already moved his vote from Potent to myself.
Fuck me. I was drunk as fuck last night and just went off the latest tally I saw on this page.
Honestly, I dont really have a reason to believe either of you is mafia so I'm leaving my vote where it is for now but I'm open to discussion and in no way lockedd in.

Alright lil Mafia bebes. Round will close in precisely 12 hours. It looks like you guys do want to go into a 2-person run off before ending the day, yes?
And I will in fact be available to post right at 10 am this time round.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to a short (6 hour or so) extension if we don't hear from a few players before the upcoming deadline. But I leave that to the ref and the opinions of others.

My feelings right now remain the same. I'm town, I'm not getting a clear read on either Jaz or Rothric, and I don't feel like I have any reason to change my vote. I have some ideas about those not in the runoff, and I'll save them for the start of round 2.
But I'm with everyone else, let's end this round and get the night started.
Also, could you at least post a tally when you post in the thread? I mean come on.... You have 1 job!!
Gah yes, sorry, Sassycakes (no but really, did mean to post the tally when I came here to post an hour ago - got distracted while I was writing out that post though). Many thanks to Rothric for picking up my slack there.
I am thinking an extension just until 2:00 pm (so, a mere 4-hour extension) might be a good idea before ending the Day, just to ensure that everyone has a chance to check on on the thread and see the current standings before the Day comes to its close. Thoughts?

The absolute refusal to talk this round is incredible bizarre to me. IF this gameplay continues in round 2 the townies might as well just hand it over to the mafia.
It's going to suck to lose a player with something to say. But yeah, we might as well end this now. It seems clear nothing is changing.

I can live with that. As long as we're not looking at staging it out for another day or so.
