My dad and I are thinking of coming to Atlanta next Saturday for the Braves playoff game. Do y’all have recommendations for somewhere convenient and moderately priced to stay?
Needs to be easy access to Truist and we are driving in

Maybe the Hyatt regency?
There’s hotels right outside of the battery. The hard part is getting tickets to the game.
I found some reasonably priced tickets on Stubhub that became unreasonable once they tacked on their usual fees, but tickets are secured.
Now I gotta find a nearby bar to go to for after the game
The stadium is in a complex called the Battery that has a ton of bars and restaurants in it that I'm sure will be a lot of fun after the game, especially if it's a win. There's a ton of hotels in that general vicinity (Cumberland). I see a couple for $90ish only a mile or two away.

I didn't realize that was what the Battery is until you just explained it. That sounds really cool. My dad is very excited. I don't know how many more trips that this he has left in him, so I want it to be a great memory

Yeah it's a pretty cool, albeit pricey, one stop shop. There's pedestrian bridges to a lot of the hotels too depending on where you stay
I keep suggesting the STS9 NYE run in ATL to my friends and the only reaction I get is I'm not spending new years in Atlanta
Why though. Atlanta is pretty fun for New years and that's a great venue. The only bummer about the eastern is there aren't really a lot of hotels around unless you wanna pay a ton for one downtown and even still it's not walkable. There is a Marta stop about a 20 min walk away though.

You aint gotta sell me, I love Atlanta. Just can't get anyone on board as of yet. I've heard a lot of 'Atlanta sucks'/'Atlanta's gross'... Much like when I was trying to convince everyone to go to G Jones last year in Jacksonville, but obviously Jacksonville is exponentially worse. Still hoping I can find someone to come with me tho... I'm gonna be selling it hard in my circles at Hula.

Where are y’all from that they think Atlanta is gross? Atlanta is awesome

I am originally from Lexington, KY and used to frequent ATL (5/5.5 hour drive) for raves... Was a huge part of their old rave messageboard (plurplanet and then edmplanet) too. Atlanta will always hold a special place in my heart.

I like Jacksonville. They have nitrous bars in Atlanta so that should go well at Hula.

My DJ company may be sending me out to Memphis for two gigs on NYE weekend. Never been to Memphis so I’m weighing my decisions. What should I expect there that weekend ? Any recs on places to hit up? Gigs would be the 30th and 31st.

i know my answer to this question because i've been faced with an almost identical situation before, but i asked a similar question on another forum a year ago and am curious what y'all think.
flying to see phish at MSG, 4 nights. travelling day of show. first show is 7:30pm ticket. band probably takes the stage around 8:00pm.
two travel options:
1. 5:30am flight that connects through charlotte, arrives in NYC around lunch time.
2. direct flight that leaves at 2pm CST, two hourish flight, doesn't arrive until 5:20pm EST into LGA.
prices are the same. which do you choose?
other facts:
1. hotel is approximately 15 minute walk to the venue. 2. travel from LGA to the hotel could take a maximum of one hour, assuming traffic is terrible. if i take the bus to the subway to the hotel that is about an hour as well. 3. getting into MSG is always fast, probably takes 10-15 minutes from line to seat. 4. there are like 50 million flights from charlotte to NYC per day. 5. travelling on a thursday in december.

I'm all for direct flights but option 1 makes the most sense if the layover isn't super short or super long. I keep skipping over flight options with a 30 minute layover because I feel like I'm setting myself up for failure.
