finally planning to go visit my sister in houston next month. i've never been, and she just moved closer to the city, so they haven't explored much either. recommendations for food and things to do?
I've only been to H-Town twice, but The Breakfast Klub in Midtown has great breakfast soul food. Get the chicken and waffles and the fried catfish!
i guess i should mention that my sister and i are both vegetarian. this place does have pancakes and grilled cheese though, which works for me!
Alright. Gimme the lowdown on Louisville. Cheap places to stay, restaurants, yadda yadda.
I'll be seeing bands but haven't been to the city in years and no next to nothing about it now.
I haven't lived in the city in years, but after visiting last December it's mostly the same save for a few new restaurants.
What kind of food are you feeling? My favorites are all still there - Dak Shin, Hammerhead's, Queen of Sheba, Game, Taco Luchador, and tons more. Plus some new places I got to try that were excellent. Just give me some ideas of what you like and I can give you some better recommendations.
Bars? - Holy Grale, Back Door, Nachbar, Zanzabar, + plenty of micro breweries.
Get a maple bacon doughnut at Nord's then a coffee across the road at Sunergos.
Get brunch at Toast on Market or Wild Eggs (Silver Dollar is good too)
Places to stay? I use Air BB when I go back. Downtown has all the usual places plus a new Aloft.
Thanks! I'll start digging in on the food recommendations.
It look like I may be camping after all. Hotels are just pricey and where this shindig is being held looks outta the loop of downtown. For $20 I'll be right there for a few days and don't have to worry about walking.
Kinda broad question but any advice and insight is appreciated!
So I'll be traveling through Europe and these are the cities I have plans to head through. I don't really have a time table for when I'll be in each place, but if anyone has any advice for attractions, beaches, food, concert venues, clubs, bars, hikes, museums, churches, parks, etc that would be cool!
I'll be headed through Barcelona, Spain; Paris, France; Milan, Florence, Italy; Split, Croatia; Vienna, Salzburg, Austria; Berlin, Germany; Amsterdam, Netherlands. (this is also roughly the route ill be heading via train, bus, plane, ferry, etc.)

I was just in Berlin, Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague in January.
Berlin - I loved the Berlin Wall Museum, the Checkpoint Charlie area (lots of Cold War stuff), and I didn't get to the Topography of Terror but do it if you have time. Lots of history in Berlin. Also, I have a thing for towers, so I went to the top of the TV Tower. Get advance reservations and do it.
Vienna - the Museums Quartier has art for everyone. The cathedral is a great example of Gothic architecture (can't remember its name). Also went to the top of the tower on the east side of the Danube. Metro is super easy to use in Vienna (not as much in Berlin).
Salzburg - omg I loved Salzburg, it's gorgeous. Take the funicular to the castle at the top of the hill, and of course run through Mirabell Gardens singing Do Re Mi. Just start at the very beginning...
Prague - my least favorite city I visited. I think the reason people love it is the cheap beer. It's very cheap, like 2 dollars for most pints. St Charles Bridge is cool, crossing the Charles River. People tour Prague Castle but it seemed kinda boring to me so I didn't do it. Do see the Frank Gehry building in town though, it's wild architecture.

I was there last Oct.some specific thing I still remember I liked.
Vienna - Kolar is a little restaurant / bar that serves fladden and has good beer. I had a hard time finding a more casual place to hang and feel at home in Vienna (mostly because I had forgotten what it was like to be in a bar that allowssmoking), but this place was great and right in the middle of the city. My favorite parts of Vienna were the museums. The 1 and 2 trams run around the city center and Rick Steves had a pretty good self guided tram tour of the city we liked.
This is where I stayed in Munich (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/14138606?location=Munich%2C%20Germany). Really great place close to everything nice market outside the building. I pretty much just drank beer and ate meat with soccer fans for a couple days.
This was a really good restaurant I ate at in Praugue (https://www.yelp.com/biz/mlejnice-praha). Very small so make reservations. I found it hard to get away from really touristy areas in Prague.

I asked about Amsterdam a few months ago and the answers I got were really good. Not sure how many pages back that is but shouldn't be more than a few.

Any recommendations for must sees/dos in Yellowstone/Grand Teton? I have about five days to spend between the two. I've never been to either and want to get in as many of the essentials as I can. I'll be coming in from the north. I'm primarily interested in hiking, scenic drives, catching a geyser, and making love to a wolf or bison. Thanks!

Paris - all the typical shit Florence - Dante House, Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale Michelangelo, San Lorenzo Market, Duomo Berlin - Eastside Gallery, Holocaust Memorial, the area near Oberbaumbrücke bridge is a good spot to party (Watergate, Matrix, Suicide Circus, etc) Amsterdam - Albert Cuyp Market (Poffertjes!), Vondelpark, Paradox, Waxwell Records, Bitterzoet, De School, Anne Frank House, Museumplein

I did the Table Mountain hike in the Grand Tetons last year and it was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended.
It's just over 4,000' elevation gain on the trail, but it is more than worth it. You end up at 11,100' on Table Mountain, 2 1/4 mi as the crow flies from the Tetons. The closest view you can get.
It's a heavily trafficked trail, so it's not great for solitude. But it's more than worth doing once, the scenery is gorgeous.
Also, you access Table Mountain from the west, so you don't actually have to stay in the Teton NP to get to it, saving some money. You'll approach from Alta, WY. There's a campground called Teton Canyon Campground at just about the end of the road/trailhead. Just drive back down the road a mile or two and there are plenty of places to pull over for dispersed camping. I even came across some that had bear boxes for your food set up.

Amsterdam - they have tons of museums (Van Gough, Sex (don't waste your time), Anne Frank, etc.), but Rijksmuseum is the must go to. It's got tons of iconic art including Rembrandt's The Night Watch which is all time. Also, there are many other smaller works from all the Dutch Masters including Hals, Rembrandt and everyone else. I think what those guys did with furthering art, perfecting real life in art as well as figuring out metallic applications of color is astounding. You can blow through it pretty quickly or spend a few days. It's not quite La Louvre or the Met, but it's among the world's greatest and has some awesome shit.
I'm going to piggyback off that question and ask for recommendations for Berlin, Prague and Munich
Prague: check out the Kafka museum and the vysehrad citadel Berlin: I don't know how much clubs interest you but you haaaaaave to try berghain, what an experience
and for either place, stock up on haribo gummies. great variety.

The Sex Museum was really cool. Definitely worth visiting, just go when the crowd isn't insane. Also the Museum of Prostitution was interesting.
Van Gogh museum was amazing, they had an Impressionist exhibition when I went that was the coolest art exhibit I've got to see.
Next door to VG Museum is one that I don't recall the name of... but it had Banksy and Warhol pieces. Wasn't anything breathtaking but it was cheap and worth seeing.
CLUBS! In Amsterdam go to Shelter. Awesome place and they had suuuuuper dope DJs every night I was in town PLUS the crowd was amazing. I saw Roman Flügel & Daniel Avery - excellent show.
Paris I really enjoyed Duc des Lombards & Les Disquaires (jazz clubs) for DJs I went to Social Club which had a super cool crowd, layout, and great music.

I want to do a solo international trip at the end of August. I think I'd like to go somewhere for 10 days and have a balance of city and nature adventures. My first thought was Stockholm and Lauterbrunnen but I wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions.
I was planning on probably heading somewhere in Europe for ease of travel but would be open to suggestions in South America too.
Oh and if there are any cool music-related events in Europe in that time period please mention that!
We really enjoyed the Museum of Pop Culture (although it was called the EMP Museum when we went) and the Chihuly exhibit. The CityPass thing was pretty worth the money for us. It got us into both of those, the Space Needle, the Aquarium (not terribly impressive), and a Harbor Cruise.

There's music festivals in Zurich and Helsinki in August. I would definitely recommend Switzerland. Just take trains around visiting different cities for days. Beautiful nature adventures and awesome cities.

We have the Museum of Pop Culture and the Chihuly exhibit on our itinerary, good to know they're worth it! We were considering the CityPass, but our dinner at the Space Needle includes access to the viewing deck. The cruise would be cool, but we were also considering doing a whale cruise during our trip. Thank you for the recommendations!

Pike Place and all of that of course. Cobain's house is worth a look and in a quiet neighborhood near the lake. You can take a bus out to Renton and visit Hendrix's grave too. I stopped and had a smoke with him once. Lots of great hiking in the surrounding areas.

I've been in Croatia for the last week, it's really cheap and beautiful and at the end of August there's a really sweet looking electronic music fest called Dimensions.

Great to hear. We do want to do one hike, likely near Mt Rainier.
tЯist♡n that Dinensions fest lineup is one of my favs of the year.

Our CityPass gave us two trips up the Space Needle, and we were planning on doing one during the daytime and one at night, but we ended up only going up once. It was totally worth doing the one time, but unless you really like standing in line and looking at things from high places, once is probably enough.
The harbor cruise was a nice little trip around the harbor, but definitely nothing super special. We were on relatively limited time and limited budget when we went, so the harbor cruise was fine for us, but if it's an option, I'd go with the whale cruise. I didn't see any when we were in Seattle, but my grandparents took me to Hawaii when I was in high school so that I could go whale watching, and they are really amazing creatures to see (that was humpbacks, and I think it's orcas that you are more likely to see in Seattle this time of year, but still, I think that would be just as cool to see).

Good to know! I'm a bit afraid of heights but can handle viewing areas for the most part (unless it's that damned Sky Deck at the Willis Tower in Chicago). I believe Orcas will be easier to see in September, really hyped for that.
