Woohoo, I made it in life...we need 5 more it seems. Where did all the others go from the previous game?
In my opinion, we had a run of boring games and part of that was due to a cast of characters that got too used to each other. New blood will do us good. Of course, getting a game started will also do us good.
When I used to play Mafia in college, we actually had an additional role. We would have the Mafia, Investigator (Sheriff), and the Doctor. The doctor would be able to save one person each round. It adds another layer to the game that might spice it up a bit.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

If we add a doctor role, that might be pretty fun. It's worth at least a trial run for 88.
Doctor: -Townsperson -Does not know the roles of any mafia or the inspector -Can assign one person immunity during nights, so if the inspector or mafia guess or whack that person, they will have forfeited their guess or whack.

when I've played with a doctor, they don't affect the investigator's guess, they only save someone from being killed. Best case scenario is the doctor continues to save the investigator so that they can keep guessing.
Dragon, are you playing in the next game?

If there is a Doctor, how do we keep the rounds from having an even number of people? That could result in a hung round.
I think we'd just have to go until someone broke the tie. It would be interesting to see how it shook out and would certainly add an interesting element, which our games recently have needed in my opinion.

the doctor votes for lynching as well.
I think in your previous games, you have started with3 mafia, 1 sheriff, 7 townspeople.
With a doctor, you start with 3 mafia, 1 sheriff, 1 Doctor, 6 townspeople

But his point remains. If you have 11 townspeople, you lynch one, and then head into night. The mafia whack someone, but the doctor saves them - you would then have 10 people for the next round. When you got into voting, there would be a possibility of a 5-5 stalemate.
Ah, I get where you are going now Potent. I have played it multiple ways. In the instance the doctor saved the correct person, I've played it multiple ways.
1. You continue with the lynching and go to an even number of players.
2. Because someone didn't die, you discuss, skip the lynching, and proceed to the next night.

If the round involves an even number of people, have the doctor choose someone to be both excluded from voting, and immune to being voted against.

That's not terrible, but I'd rather have it stalemate and people have to figure out what to do, more strategy involved to me.
This keeps the discussion and voting for lynching on an odd number.
When I play, we usually play with an even number so the game starts with a Mafia kill, getting the game to an odd number for voting. Then we follow the pattern above.
