Why not just book Fleetwood Mac if you're gonna book Buckingham and Nicks? They have been one of the better classic bands I have seen and holy crap Buckingham can play the guitar. Him and Mayer are probably the best guitarists I have seen live
I'm good for Fleetwood Mac, however, if you read Mick's book, it is getting more difficult to get the whole band together and I've heard their recent tours took a lot of energy out of them. On the flip side, A reunion of Buckingham Nicks would be pretty special. It was several Birmingham area DJs that helped keep their success afloat back in the 70's. Theirs was like the first album I purchased when I got to college. I'm thinking it might be easier and a solid PR thing to get them together on the beach for Hangout. Festivals are always looking for that "it" performance and this would be a lot better deal than "The Weaknd". My opinion of course.
How many days til Hangout 2018: The Return of ne215 , Zaitch, esteban & Cmack....
I neee some fucking Wakarusa in my life. I don't really think Hamgout is going to come back to anything I want to go to. I'm sure there will be some good acts every year, but unless it's a lucky combination and concentration of acts I want to go and see, fuck them. I always said it wouldn't take much and that its not about the headliners. But if they are going to stay more EDM, dance pop and synth pop, it would have to have a lot more musical shit like M83, Gramatik, Exmag and GRiZ to go along with say Chance, Phoenix, LCD and some other rock and rap acts to interest me at all. I'm not completely opposed, but I've mostly moved on after missing this year. I'm not getting Cornell, Trey Anastasio Band, String Cheese Incident, Winwood, moe., Dispatch or anything else that made the fest what it is. I'm getting watered down popular bullshit. So unless they change their ways or go for a mix of quality with popular, I'm not gonna be giving a fuck.

A random redditor with no real authority said he "heard from a vendor that Waka is going full-EDM."
Insert "Tropic Thunder Full-Retard subbed 'Never Go Full-EDM' Themed" Meme....

Ouch. It was always heavy with it but I need jam and jamtronica (rock, rap, etc.) to commit. I liked the fact they were slightly toward the rock side of Electric Forest overall.
Variety is the spice of life. I saw my share of EDM there: Major Lazer, Black Tiger, Goldfish, Big G. I loved the hip hop there was incredible: Roots, Chance, Chali 2 Na, Dilated Peoples. Of course 2 sets of Umph and Tribe was on point, along w Lotus. Indie/Alt was well repped' too with Old 97s, PMan, Young the Giant. It had everything I could ask and more.

Ok. So say "old white men are out". Fine. What about old white men and semi-not old white men. Imagine how cool it would be to have Dead and Company on the beach? I don't know about anybody else, but my mind would be officially blown.

Not trying to kill dreams here, plus I could be wrong, but doesn't dead and co's tour end before next hangout?

Summer tour sure. But they tour constantly as any Dead iteration does. I have seen then four times now and heading to Pittsburgh in a few weeks for #5. If Hangout booked them, I would not care what else was even there. Although there is almost no chance.
Dead Phish and Co? I still think John Mayer, Chris Cornell, Bryan Adams, and a few other middle aged white men could give Hangout fans a good show.
With Mayer headlining The Roots Picnic in NYC it means hes going to be touring off his new album at some poi t so I would say a Mayer set is very much in play for Hangout.
21 Pilots are #2 at Music Midtown. They seem like a strong top 4 possibility at Hangout which is disgusting to me.
I feel your pain moten33. 21 maybe a Chevy or Palladia closer. When you look at LCD Soundsystem, Pearl Jam, and Dead and Co, not sure why Hangout can't book someone new and dance worthy for Friday, a solid rock group for Saturday, and classic jammy closer. That would make me pretty happy. Fill in the lower card with a little bit of everything for everyone.

I'm fine w em between 4-6. Just headlining would be awful.

Oh, snap. Y'all aren't all of a sudden expecting me to be realistic now, are you? I'm still holding my breath for Phish, Incubus and Flaming Lips as a triple play for Saturday night.
Saw Phish for the first time at Wrigley Saturday. Great band obviously but I still don't get all the hype with them. Would check them out again if they were in the area and I could get cheap tickets like I got this time. Gimme Umphreys over them everytime though.

Most shows are different. They are more folky and farmy I think because of where they are from. They also sort of helped pioneer part of what we take for granted with big production shows now. They are big among my baby brothers generation say those who went to college in the 90s and would go on Dead styled runs with them. Personally, as much as I love Umphreys, and I've seen them 10 times or so (Phish only twice), I don't think they are in the same ballpark as Phish. They also are more of a rock/progressive type act. So other than both broadly falling within "jam", it's a little bit of a tough comparison. JMO
I streamed Saturday and i thought they were off for about the first 30mins, but from 46days on, it was really good imo...and i don't think there is a bigger influence on umph's sound than phish...maybe it's generational.
