...thinking back, i was 10 or 15yrs deep with panic and phish before i ever 'got' the dead. I would see the different versions through the years and it never clicked. I think it was actually a DSO show that somebody dragged me to that kick started a very enjoyable deep dive into their music.

Thought Saturday at wrigley looked killer. Deer Creek last night too, but they always have good shows there it seems.
I was working the Deer Creek show, and they did not disappoint. Admittedly, Im only a casual fan but it was a nice break for all the country and arena rock they normally book
Ya I have no doubt about the influence they had overall on the jam rock scene. Like I said, musically they're obviously very talented, but I just wouldn't actively travel or seek out to see them. If they want to play anywhere in Chicago though I'd see them again.

I'm kind of there with you. I would see them out of town, but it would be circumstantial (e.g. when we saw them at The Wharf in Orange Beach but were already in Pensacola). I would also say I'd drive a couple of hours to see them, but I doubt I would go across country unless it was one of those soccer complex 3 nights in Denver or a brief regional run of shows like jabco does. I saw their first set and half the second set at Bonnaroo 2012 and the majority of the Orange Beach 2014 set (left early in the encores due to the trouble getting down there that night). I liked them both. And I also very much like the Trey Anastasio Band. They sound completely different than Phish, and while sparkysarah would put up a worthwhile argument to the contrary, they were fucking great at Hangout 2013. I've seen since them two more times on back-to-back nights at the local House of Blues in early 2014 or 2015. I know they are headlining Lock'n, and I hope they are out on the road some next year. I'd love to see them get one of the Waka headlines.
Kinda like.....popular > < Not pop but damn good shiz. I like listening to hits, but then this music comes along that I never really took notice of and smacked me across the ears and face and I'm on the front row of Festival Expressions or TAB. After listening to the chick sing Black Dog fronting TAB, TAB moved waaaay up on my like list.
mattlikesrock had been pushing Lorde as a headliner. From what I have gathered from the Firefly survey responses she has only been coming up as an option in the sub-headliner or undercard slots. They have similar booking to HangOut and obviously GV. Looks like if we do get her it would be in the second line whIch I would be cool with.

That Wharf show had a real life Ticket Oak. There were extra tickets people would put in a tree. I did not expect that show to sell so poorly. It was my first Phish show and I really enjoyed it.

How exactly do those surveys work?
They give a list of random artists each time you take it. A bunch are listed as headliners, then subheadliners, undercard etc. Usually each time you take it, it will give you different options and some artists are in multiple categories.
It's just my opinion, but I'll give this one a shot: Aerosmith was my first rock show, they were touring Get Your Wings as an opener for, get this, REO Speedwagon. Those first few albums are immortal, world-class Rock and roll. The Dude looks like a lady and fatuous ballad era ruined their rep in my eyes, then Steven adds insult to injury by hosting a stupid karaoke show. Caricature complete. I was drug to one of their shows about 15 years ago, and it was just awful. I can't imagine how bad it would be today. You can't call some vapid, soulless purveyors of bullshit like Train a sellout; they never had the goods to begin with. But the composers of Toys in the Attic deserve a better epitaph, in my humble opinion.
Yeah. It's textbook bloated carcass. I love some Joe Perry but fuck it's a long way from Toys in the Attic. Fwiw, someone respectable on here said that Train's Performance of Led Zeppelin II at a recent fest was great. Who knows?
Agree. I saw Aerosmith with Bob Seger and Kiss at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium in the 70s and that was a hell of a show. My favorite Aerosmith was Aerosmith album with Dream On, Mama Kin, and Walkin the Dog. Then came Rocks with Back in the Saddle, Sick as a Dog, and A Lick and a Promise. And Toys in the Attic. That was some damn good rock.

I listened to Train on Howard Stern and they were pretty damn good covering Led Zeppelin. They played Mountain Jam right before Umphrey's. Thursday night.
Our luck, we would just get Train, covering Train.
Tame wouldn't play two sets, and if they did it would be the exact same set twice. Also I don't expect it to be this good. M83 would be higher and if Bassnectar plays he will headline and his fans will likely ruin that stage for the entirety of his day

Jesus christ you guys. I take an inforoo break for a few weeks and I come back to a board devolved into discussing jam bands and the merits of fucking Train?
Maybe I should just check back in when they drop the line up in October...

Are you referring to the stories about Assnecatar fam acting like total pricks at Camp Bisco a few years ago?

Yeah, I was just joking about that but I have heard they have been obnoxious per TFO at a couple others I believe.
Love the graphics and artwork. Top line sounds "happen-able". Hangout usually throws us old, jam band, classics a bone or two. I could see Steeldrivers, Tedeschi Trucks, Robert Plant, Gary Clark Jr, Warren Haynes, or Steely Dan somewhere on that lineup in lieu of krisplettuce's magnificent lineup. Greg Allman and Dicky Betts are planning some future gigs together and they would be solid closers.
Someone was was making a guess on the next Sam Smith, Calvin Harris?, at 2017 grammy's. I am betting Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton are going to break out bigger and better next year.
