Gonna be honest personally have never been a Phoenix fan and was looking forward to FO so I'm bummed. But at the same time atleast Hangout did try and did get a replacement I know a lot of my friends like and have heard nothing but positive things about phoenix especially live so I'll just still enjoy the weekend with friends music and beach time cheap since we're pretty local. But honestly next year may be choosing between hangout and okeechobbee on initial lineups next year.
Honestly, I don't know how I feel about his reason for canceling. If you know your show isn't ready, should you go on and give a mediocre headlining set? At least he didn't do it days before the festival. He definitely backed out of Hangout at least a week ago and Hangout didn't want to announce it until they had a replacement. He probably isn't allowed to announce that sort of thing himself. I'm not trying to say he's completely excused, I'm just not going to judge him as a terrible person yet. I know I'm making another comparison to this guy, but it's not as bad as when The Weeknd pulled out days before Meadows just so he could be on SNL instead. Now that was completely shitty of him.
I hear you. That guy seems like a grade A douche. Frank is more esoteric I guess and less ego driven. Kid Cudi had the very issue you mentioned I think late 2015. He tried to do one show or something and he had a breakdown. We saw him March 2016 @ Buku, and it was fine. But I guess sometimes you do have to defer to the artist.
Oh yeah I was rail for that Cudi show! It was decent, but I was just happy that he pointed directly at me and smiled.
The lineup obviously isn't great top to bottom but I would have zero issues with these 3 days of music. Could be so much worse.

SUNDAY: Shaggy--> Strand Of Oaks--> Bob Moses--> Franz Ferdinand--> Chance The Rapper--> Mumford & Sons (I would normally see Warpaint, Young The Giant, and Lawrence but the schedule is a shitshow)

Mumford does not have 2 songs Bob. That's quite the exaggeration I'd have to say. Sorry, but have to call you out on that one. I do like some of your possible headliners though
I saw The Damned recently & Captain Sensible hates Mumford & Sons. Slagged them at least 3 times in comments. I certainly like them more than he does. Guess they wouldn't play his kid's birthday party back before they made it.

What did you have conflicting? Regardless if I get dragged to Hangout or not next weekend, I'll be back in NOLA for Sigur Ros Sunday night. I would have seen Chance, Shaggy, Bob Moses and probably Warpaint. i didn't download the app, but it looks like Chance/Warpaint would be the one I'd be most affected by. And I'd see Chance all day there.

Frank Ocean is the objectively better get for a festival but it comes down to personal taste (I would prefer phoenix.) Solid act to get as the replacement on short notice. I can't wait to see them this Sunday at SK.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. If I wasn't seeing Phoenix at Shaky Knees this weekend, I'd probably make the trip down there to play with Beachbob.

to put it simply
they were well on their way to being a HLer, were booked to headline coachella 13, then Bankrupt flopped.
they were billed where they should of been at fests in 14 after the Bankrupt flop
we pretty much all agreed they would be in the 5-6 range going into this season, then they got announced as #3 for Gov Ball and Shaky Knees so i dont think anyone is gonna bill them as an undercard act anymore.
Happy that I'm seeing Warpaint at Shaky Knees otherwise that conflict with Chance would be bad for me. I'm mad how Friday worked out. I knew that was the day with the most artists I wanted to see but to have Barns Courtney/Andrew Mcmahon and MGMT all at the same time stinks. Saturday and Sunday aren't too bad conflict wise other than my girlfriend wants to see ARIZONA and I'd like to see Mutemath but we can just split up for that one.
