Out of curiosity, if I'm power walking how many minutes would it take to get between the two main stages?
If you are power walking at Hangout you are going to be seriously out of place. It is ok to be chill here. In addition, you are going to run over a lot of walking stoned.
Friday: Mac Demarco > A$AP Ferg > Weezer > Phoneix Saturday: Mutemath > Jillionaire > Band of Horses > Head and Heart > Sigur Ros Sunday: Shaggy > Bob Moses > Chance > Mumford?
I'm calling BS on the 'lack' in this list man. You either haven't checked everyone out or you're lying to us and what's worse is, you're lying to yourself...shame on you.
Ok, gave Phoenix a listen. IMHO...not rock. Pop rock at best. But hey, I was a big fan of The Cars and Cheap Trick so there you go. Another band for 21 year old sorority girls. The music fest of TAB, Government Mule, SCI, WSP, Foos, and Tom Petty has put on a skirt and silly glasses. Thankful a handful of bands this year got some spit and vinegar in their music. Then there is that tropical experience and opportunity to catch up with friends. Throw in the VIP and Inforoo pre-party this year and I'm good.
Oh, Bob. You gotta quit doing this to yourself.
Phoenix Roo 2009 is one of my top 5 shows of all time. I didn't know much about them at the time either.

LMFAO. Obviously if I was going, there would be some earlier shows I'd probably go to if I found anything at the bottom I liked. These are the acts I like. I don't like lots of other ones. Hence, I sold my ticket. There are some conflicts with acts I'd probably check out (Friday MGMT, Dillon Francis who I've seen a few times), Joseph and maybe The Suffers. Saturday I might see Local Natives and Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Sunday perhaps Hurray for the Riff Raff, Strand of Oaks. I don't know Gryffin though some have said he/they are good. But there's plenty of shit I wouldn't see regardless and would have ruled out - Friday: Charli XCX, Cash Cash, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness; Saturday: Magic, Snakehips, Louis the Child, Major Lazer; Sunday: Marshmello, Towkio. Shame on you mf.

Strumbellas>Cash Cash> Mac > Weezer > Dillion Mute>Local Natives> Tory> BOH > Head and The Heart > Sigur Ros Shaggy > Bob Moses > Beach Access? > Franz > Young > Chance > Maybe Mumford, probably leave early.
I'd more than likely pre-game too hard and miss all the early sets. Dig a sand couch and never make it to Boom Boom. Then rave about what a good time I had all the way back to Texas. I really hate to see Mumford closing the festival. I just don't like them. Probably because when they first came out I just thought they were ripping off The Avett Brothers.
Yeah, sorry. I had researched them last year after the Voodoo lineup came out. They just seemed rooted in electrosoul and dance remixes which aren't typically what I like to listen to. Looks like a decent show at Okee nevertheless.
If there is one consistent truth here it is that watching someone live on the beach at Hangout us waaaay different than YouTube, audio only, or what someone told you. Agree with @radius Claus that I will probably enjoy Phoenix a lot. I'm torn between 21 Pilots on the beach with a breeze from VIP and Sigur Ros in the hot tent. Probably 21 Pilots. I've beat up on Mumford but really like folk, bluegrass, style music and they will probably be my weekend favorite. I'm pretty happy with the plan coming together for next weekend.

Haha well I'll try to dodge the walking stoned. I definitely want to find some time to chill too but there are just a lot of bands I want to see, especially on Friday.
I was excited for Frank, but I love Phoenix as well. I don't think it was possible to find an equivalent replacement for FO on such short notice. So, I'm a happy man.
My schedule:
Fri: Jimmy Lumpkin - Heydaze - White Reaper - Foreign Air/Bishop Briggs (hot second) - Mac Demarco - MGMT - Weezer - Phoenix Sat: Magic! - A R I Z O N A/MUTEMATH - RKS/Local Natives - Rufus/Susto - Lewis Del Mar - Band of Horses/Cobi - Major Lazer/Head and Heart - 21P/Sigor Ros (this day will have some game time decisions with RKS/Local, Major Lazer/HaH, 21P/Sigor Ros) Sun: SUSTO - Shaggy - Bob Moses - Franz Ferdinand - Young the Giant - Chance the Rapper/Warpaint - Mumford

I really think you'll enjoy Phoenix a lot. There is a break in the music before the Sigur Ros/21P. I'm trying to figure out what the play is there. It could be that all the kids will try to rush the main stage and try to get a good spot so they can hold one of those boards that they come out and play on and Sigur Ros will be relatively empty early on. Then again, Sigur Ros is unopposed for 15 minutes and there are some goons who just stay in the boom boom all weekend, so it might be better to go about fifteen minutes in to the set after they get weirded out when they realize it's not electronic music. Either way, you absolutely have to see Sigur Ros if you're going to Hangout this year. It's the most interesting thing there by light years.

I think cmack was right about an end to end boardwalk this year. if that's wide enough, we'll be able to cruise...couple minutes.

As usual we almost match up completely. I too am struggling with the rufus/snake hips conflict.

whats the deal with dual headliners on sunday? lol mello with a 45 minute set? why not have him close the tent and bump the other tent acts back and move that CVbz to a smaller stage.

Okay, I think I have this figured out.

Ha, I may do that to because I assume that's the 3 songs my kids never let me turn from on the radio.
...I think I see how you resolve conflicts. Is Sigur Ros the only show you can't view from VIP?
Well, here's a crazy story: a guy that rode the school bus with me is front of house soundman for Sturgill Simpson. I just scored a backstage pass for Forecastle.

Strand of Oaks and Warpaint are on the Mermaid stage.
But, yes, I give more weight to acts on VIP stages.
Edit: And I don't even consider the BMI stage since the sound sucks.
