Anyone else catch Major Lazer saying they were sure if the festival was going to be cancelled? Talked about that this morning. Brought me back to that rumor from someone
What?
If memory serves me right Walshy Fire mentioned something about not sure if they Festival was going to be cancelled. Wasn't sure if he was talking about that night bc of weather or in general

I don't recall anything like that.
As far as volume, I felt it was definitely packed. I don't see how they didn't make $$$. Also, every other person seemed to have Hangout Merch so I'm sure $$$ was made there. From a municipal standpoint, they would sure rip an enormous revenue stream from the entire local economy. +40k volume festival is bringing millions to local business spread throughout. Unless perhaps they just aren't seeing it at the micro level. I assume townhalls will determine that. Who knows.

Was this on stage? There was 100% multiple lightning strikes behind the stage so I assume they noticed that.
Also this: Hangout submits application to expand to Australia. Perhaps they are deeply involved in this and haven't figured out exact details next year.....or they are completely moving it over there.
Music promoter TEG Dainty has applied to council to bring Hang Out Music Festival to the Gold Coast to fill a hole left by the collapse of the Big Day Out. Plans had been put forward to the city council to hold the two-day extravaganza in mid-November to take advantage of the warm weather and dwindling festival offerings on the Coast.
Mayor Tom Tate has been outspoken is his desire to facilitate the festival. He proposed to have TEG Dainty boss Paul Dainty speak to the council about the upcoming festival.
“In our cultural city we should look towards embracing (events like this) where we can.”
Southern councillor Gail O’Neill is not sold on the idea and is heading the opposition. She told the local paper:
“I would like to see some public consultation as well. A two-day music festival on the beach is too much risk for the region’s beaches. I think we have to be very selective about what events we do hold on the beach.”
Festival organisers had been aiming to hold the first festival this year and the November date would have made it one of the first festivals in Queensland in summer.

Yea on stage. It was just weird the way he phrased it but after thought it was probably about the weather and just cancelling their portion

The merch booths were packed. Wife wanted a certain small tank top style and they were all out at 1 pm on Friday at the main merch booth. $20 water bottles and $30 tank tops add up
Hangout has been rated one of the top festivals, particularly given beach location. I've heard the city wants bigger name headliners. I thought Weezer, Mumford, Phoenix, and 21 Pilots, were all headliner level performers.
After another terror attack, Hangout needs to rethink security. The groping security checks of folks in flip flops and a swimsuit are ridiculous.
Maybe they just don't want to give up the $200 we were saving and they weren't making.
You are probably right. I went over to the Coachella website and it seems they have not announced a date for next year either. Guess it's just the way GV does business.
Looks like 200 arrests this year - 171 in and around the grounds (about 70 or so inside the fest) and 29 in Orange Beach. Pwnd. Come to south Alabama for the beaches, stay for the probation baby! I don't need that shit. I understand they need to keep order at some level, but fucking people's lives over for revenue generation in a lot of these cases is bullshit.

I didn't and don't have a problem with trained officers in uniform. Totally yes sir/no sir and do what they tell me. I do have issues with rent a cops and security (FESS). Some of them do a good job, some don't. When there is a huge line and one or two working while four women paint their nails and chit chat, no good. I ran into three women working security who didn't know the rules written out for them and taped to a table. Took me several minutes explain my camera lens would not come off.
I thought I had bruised my toe. Still hurt. Checked it out and had a three inch gash from stepping on something in the sand. Beware.
First thing Friday morning dude next to us in line handcuffed because he just had his weed in his pocket. Super weird because the line was long and one of the security guards was yelling to everyone to take everything out of your pockets so he had time to rethink his "smuggling". I guess he thought exiting the line would be more suspicious? Either way he never even made it it into the fest. It was just weed too he straight up just held it out in his hands.
Sucks because had he been in other states wouldn't have been a problem.
Can't wait to get my survey. My issues are more safety related and the need for sidewalks and better public address system and communication. Exiting the storm Saturday night was A total cluster quack. The walk around pre-party us also a hazard.
VIP could be a whole lot better. If you like funky salads, health foods, granola, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts...fine. if you like tropical drinks with rum and vodka...fine. if you want a squirt gun, better toilet, fine. I want and prefer whiskey, Miller lite, and restaurant food aka shrimp, oysters, burgers, etc. If they would offer a $200 discounted food and drink VIP at restaurant I'm in. I had more friends in GA than VIP which made it a pain. And yes, the VIP club was a little elitist at times.

Unlike your whiskeys, I'm not familiar with the craft brewery scene in Tennessee at all. But surely y'all have something better than Miller Light. That shit was disgusting in high school. x/

Yep. This is complete BS. Lets just ruin lives over reefer madness.

There are good craft beers everywhere these days. If I am going to drink a beer or two, winter time, craft beer is the way to go. I have had a bad year with allergies and trying to reduce gluten and sugars. Whiskey, wine, and Miller Lite seem to go down the easiest on me. Miller Lite = tastes great And less filling. I can drink a six pack of Miller Lite no problem. The Bud and Bud Light festival selection made me gag. To each his own. There are millions of people who drink Miller Lite. Not disgusting to us.
Yeah festivals are strictly domestics for me. When I'm chilling at home and wanna start off with a craft beer to get me going- sure, but 3-4 days in the sun standing all day I need something way lighter.

There are millions of people who eat McDonald's too. It' still pretty disgusting. Then again, if you're eating off a garbage pile, it's probably gourmet. Whiskey is the drink of choice these days. I can take a sip of something else, but if I'm having more than one, it's going to be whiskey. Adding Perrier in there vs. any kind of sweetened or diet soda has all but eliminated hangovers for me.

Aren't you from Texas? If so, you're missing out. Topo Chico is the only sparkling water you should be drinking.
No. I'm from New Orleans. cmack brought me some Topo Chico last fall for Voodoo Fest. It was good. It's not at the local groceries by my house, so it's San Peligrino or Perrier. I usually go with Perrier because the big bottles are generally on sale 4 for $5.00, and Winn Dixie spits me out a by 4 get $1.00 off every time I'm at the register. Preference for sparkling water I can't afford is Mountain Valley Springs in Arkansas. But it's way more expensive.
Boo, my folks can get it now at Super 1 in Alexandria. I use to have to carry them from Houston with me when I'd go visit. Worth keeping an eye open for, if they're in Alec, I can't imagine they hadn't made their way to New Orleans.
That stuffs my life fuel. I think a 12 pack is 6.50 at HEB. My brother gets them in Gonzales at either rouse's or ralph's (can't remember which). They've expanded a lot in the last year or so. If there's a La Morenita around there I'm sure they'd have it.
I'll check Rouse's next time I'm there to see if they have cases. My only knock on the cases, is that if they only carry glass, the idiots in our sanitation/recycling don't recycle it anymore (or pizza boxes!?!?) I guess the idea that glass is probably the best thing you can put in landfills or maybe the bulk weight makes it too cumbersome or something. I don't know. I never heard of not recycling glass since it's about the most recyclable material there is. But leave it up to some fucking administrators...

This from the "squishy fish" eating guy.
Squishy fish? Sushi? Don't ever even barely cook my tuna or salmon. That shit is best raw all the way, and hopefully sliced straight off the fish. And yeah, even if I was solely a carnivore or vegetarian, I wouldn't be eating at McDonald's if you paid. That's just me. I don't have anything personal against fast food and do eat it occasionally. But McDonald's is down with high school cafeteria food on my hierarchy of shit I want to eat. To each their own. There's a reason that people eat McDonald's, drink Bud Light (which I know you don't like that either) and go see shows like Lil Yachty or whatever. In our modern society, popular never really directly correlates with quality though.
