My significant other hates festivals. But he makes sure I get there and appreciates how much I enjoy live music. We make it work.
This is me, although "hate" would be a strong word. She went to Bonnaroo with me this year for the first time, which was probably perfect with the smaller crowds. She might be more up for a hotel-based event.
But, she has bought me tickets to 2 other Bonnaroos, Firefly and already got my son and I tix for Coachella next year. Perfect.
hey all. bout to get married in a month and some days. just made up with wedding festival poster to celebrate. thinking about using it as my gust sign in to make lineup poster.. thoughts?
backstory: the alien is our boy Neil A from Hangout fest that we pass'd out to folks and just generally rocked out with. the blow up sheep was our first festival totem top. the pizza is b/c we are also having brick oven pizza truck at the wedding!
I assume the "after-party" is limited to just 2 people. I could be wrong, though. To each their own
Read in an article about GnR running late that they have dates planned all the way into next year. GnR - Calvin Harris - Sia - Martin Garrix
I can't decide if I'm regretting ditching the show here tonight at the Superdome or not. With LCD and Adventure Club on tv, and taking my dad out to dinner for his birthday anyway, it's no great loss. I'm Not a big GnR fan, but I do like them enough and certainly respect Duff and Slash. I'm guessing black tshirts and some fights in the stands. Haha. As stated in the Lolla thread, I skipped the live stream of Mutemath last night in favor of Jane's who has probably been the best set I've seen so far. But I'm going to take Dan808 's parents advice and catch Mutemath in a few minutes. It airs on redbulltv.com Channel 2 or any of their apps at 11:45. If it rains I'll catch the re-air of Last Shadow Puppets after that. \m/
Went to DSO in Rochester last night and doing Robert Randolph tomorrow so sold my tickets for this. Needed a night at home. Let me know if it was as completely dead as most Artpark shows have been this year.
It was one of the better Wednesday night crowds but they were awesome. Sound was turned up super loud.
I told a buddy i was having a hard time with LCD....he said imagine the Talking Heads playing on a boombox, almost loud enough, in the corner of the room...working so far.
Nashville Friday night is an outdoor concert with Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, and Tribe Society. Not sure the top act would be there. I'd give $35 to see Collective Soul in a bar but, 40% chance of rain and "feels like" 101 doesn't get me real motivated. The "1964 Tribute " Beatles at Schermerhorn is at least dry and 70 something degrees with nice acoustics and seating.
My friend Jesse Black released his first song on iTunes today. I've watched him grow and work at singing and playing blues guitar since the guitar was taller than he was. The song is Bound to Roam, .99 cents, and he is saving for college. We are playing at South Pittsburg, TN, on their Main Street stage 6-10 pm tomorrow night hopefully. I am ready for some football weather. The heat and humidity has worn out its welcome.
1065 fest lineup on Friday already looking good! Moon taxi and trombone shorty for free!
AND Blind Melon I've heard their new lead singer is pretty good. No one will replace Shannon Hoon but from the videos I've seen, they look to still put on a pretty good show.
I would love some Arcade Fire on the beach. Given the band's relationship with Goldenvoice as well as the new album coming soon, I think that's a reasonable expectation.
i would not be sad knowing i will be missing that lineup.
No doubt about that. It's basically a kiss off at that point. Chance is fine and Arcade Fire, but that's where it ends. And I've already seen him (and will have seen him again as well as Arcade Fire) by then.
Why do you think Calvin Harris would be back? I think they'll still fit in a different EDM (Dedmowfigh) act but I don't see why they owe him another slot.
Still, it def looks realistic and realistically looks like I won't be going.
Chance the Rapper - Deadmau5 - Twenty One Pilots - St Vincent Of Monsters and Men - Chromeo - Umphrey's McGee - Incubus STS9 - Galantis - Chris Stapleton - Schoolboy Q - Nathaniel Rateliff
This could be more to my liking without removing anything aside from CH
I'm curious to see what is "in" come spring time. I hope GV doesn't sign headliners and announce lineup so early this year. I'm good with half the lineup being an krisplettuce or JUICY JAY wish list, but also want to see more than two bands out of the top fifteen I would enjoy. If one of those bands is Tedeschi Trucks, I'd be pretty happy. Nathaniel Ratliff would be fun. Want to see a rock band on Saturday night. GNR? Who else could be doing a reunion tour next May. And there is always the Doobies!
Frank Ocean - Arcade Fire - Kendrick Martin Garrix - Sia - monsters and men - chance the rapper Marshmello - bob Moses - STS9 - Schoolboy Q The Nathaniel Radcliffe and the night sweats - Anderson .Paak
I know I know too good to be true. Gonna be more like
Calvin Harris - Selena Gomez - 5 seconds of summer
This would make a lot of sense and move a lot of tickets. AF would be nice, would need to see 4-6 and possible tent closers that could maybe oppose Drake or Lana.
If I had a kid, I would be bringing his ass to see GnR on sunday. I'll pissed at my shithead parents for not taking me to shows when I was young for the rest of my life.
I agree. I really appreciate seeing parents bonding with their kids and exposing them to good new (ANY) music. Especially when they're donning oversize headphones. There is a knee-jerk reaction by society to be shocked, but god forbid they see raw creativity in comparison to the garbage they're exposed to on TV on a daily basis.
I see your point, and I saw a lot of teens and tweens with their folks. But the 5 and 6 year-olds looked confused and bored.
So many acts that are just so obviously not gonna happen for this festival, which sucks. New NIN coming later this year, I'd love to have Trent Reznor close out the main stage
Looking back and forward at Coachella as a big Hangout, headliners I would want to see, even if again; Kings of Leon (expect new music soon and they played before Mechanical Bull came out), Avett Brothers, Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Decemberists, LCD Soundsystem, and Deadmau5. I would also go for loading up and getting U2, Fleetwood Mac, or Paul McCartney. On the undercard; Tedeshi Trucks Band, Trombone Shorty, Gary Clark Jr, Nathaniel Ratliffe, Beach House, Anderson East, Chris Stapleton, and Brothers Osborne.
