Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I will definitely miss the short walk to Bahama Bobs and guitar with sparkysarah and krisplettuce at the IWE pool. We will need to find a bar halfway between east and west. How appropriate for Inforoo regulars and not so regulars...a halfway house. It is a long time til 19 May, 2017. 278 according to Google. When is the next important date like tickets go on sale or lineup released.
I'm contemplating going to the Mobile festival in October. I have an option on a house in Orange Beach. Shouldn't be too far of a drive. Are you going chickinchickasaw ?
Heck yeah. It's free and it's 12 minutes from my driveway to the stage at Moe's. It's a no-brainer for me.
Finishing out this year with Bear Creek, Voodoo and Day for Night, next year is looking like Buku, Jazz Fest, Bear Creek if they do it again here and Voodoo. Everything else is Wakarusa dependent. With most quality festivals streaming these days, I can still support them by watching the sets I want to see (and the commercials they feed you) that they make available. Saves about 1000 per fest which works well for me. Also there really isn't much out there on the festival circuit that I want to see that I haven't already seen. Obviously Disco Biscuits are at the top of that list. I don't know what headliners anyone is going to pull that will be both exciting and something I'm dying to see that I haven't already. U2 would get me somewhere close.
I've still got Chucktown Ball, Loufest, Roots, Blues, and BBQ in Columbia MO, and Umphrey's Halloween run in St. Louis. Next year I'm cutting way back, I think I'll do the whole week in GS for Hangout, and SummerCamp.

Out of a pool of 100 or more there are only about 15 possible headliners that I think they could or would book that I want to see. That's not very good odds for me.
I care who they put on the stages, but I'm going for the friends, party, food, beach, and the get away. Hopefully the 2016 lineup was an aberration. Too many better bands available in my opinion. Hey mattlikesrock, who are those five headliners you want to see there?

There are about 50 possible headliners for any festival that I would like to see at this point. About 15 of those would be unlikely reunions (Simon and Garfunkel, The Smiths, Oasis, etc.) and about 20 don't fit Hangout or are too big (David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Daft Punk, The Cure, etc.) So here's the list that I think could headline that I'd like to see. And admittedly, some of these aren't very likely.
Arcade Fire Fleetwood Mac Bruce Springsteen Gorillaz Coldplay Will Smith Aerosmith Justin Timberlake Green Day Muse Lorde Lana Del Rey Chance the Rapper Usher Drake Bob Seger Dead and Co. And I would be ok with a pop act that I've never seen like Katy Perry, Rihanna, or Lady Gaga.
I'd love to get three from that list, but the best I can hope for is probably one, and I don't even feel too confident about that.
I really wish this festival was at a different time of the year. It's so close to bonnaroo that it doesn't really make sense for me to do both especially when I have a bunch of closer fest of similar or better quality in the same time frame (shakey knees and firefly). If I'm going to make the jump and travel a fair bit, I'd rather just go all in and make the trip to coachella. It sucks too. The last two years this was probably my most anticipated festival and I was about to buy a ticket and then backed off at the last minute. Maybe third year is the charm.

I'm in the same boat this year. I always have so much fun and I know I could still get at least 6 guys to make the trip again this year but with Bonnaroo 3 weeks later it's just a lot financially. I originally had a destination wedding that was planned for Hangout weekend but they decided to do something local instead so I'm that much more tempted.

Fleetwood Mac and or any semblance of the Mac, Mac light - Buckingham Knicks, etc., would make this one of my favorite HOMFs. Next would be either Justin Timberlake and/or Bob Seger. Then Will Smith, Usher, Aerosmith, Bruce, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, and Gorillaz. After that, I really not excited about any of the remaining selections. A return of KOL, RHCP, or Jack White would be A-OK with me.
I am hoping for Tedeschi-Trucks Band (TTB), any form of Greg Allman or Warren Haynes, Doobie Brothers, Bonne Raitt, Sheryl Crow, and Chris Stapleton after the sun goes down. Hoping for a return of Old Crow Medicine Show, Gary Clark Jr, Ray Lamontagne, Chris Cornell, and don't want to forget Nathaniel Ratliffe.
I realize that over 60% of the performers next year will be for the under 30 crowd, which is a good thing, I just hope some of the 40% remaining will play to both ends of the age spectrum.

I like most of the bands you listed but none of them would headline Hangout. They would all be 2nd-4th lines at best. (You need to go to Peach Fest or Mountain Jam with moten33 one year. In addition to Hangout, not instead of, of course. I would think that would be a 10 out of 10 for your lineup tastes.) I think that just shows how hard it is to get headliners we haven't all seen several times. We're almost out of fresh options.
I was agreeing with mattlikesrock on the second paragraph of my reply. I would think KOL, RHCP, Jack White, Timberlake, Seger, Will Smith, etc., would be headliners for Hangout. The third paragraph I would agree as 2-4th liners. I don't care where the are on the line-up, I would go see them. The Doobies and Sheryl Crow might make it to headliners. The feedback from folks going to those shows all said they were better than a lot of headliners they had seen this year. I am pretty locked down on my condo/May vacation so I'll be happy no matter what Hangout throws up down the street.

Gregg Allman has major health problems, so we've probably seen the last of him on the road. After last year, I won't even venture a guess on the headliners. It would be nice to have some other demographics included, but I think they've found their niche, so I have my doubts. 2016 was the most crowded that I've seen.
Good video of that incident with STS9. Skip to 1:16 if it doesn't automatically do that.
Wow, this is why we can have nice things. Did they just shake it off and keep playing or was there a big scene? Any security reprucussions throughout the fest after? (obviously only would know if you or someone you know were there)

Yeah I believe they continued their set. Apparently, there was also a power outage later on that halted their 2nd set. Def a security breach but I don't know of any public repercussions. I assume their security manager chewed out his/her staff for it though.

Yeah the Werkout is so chill so I was just hoping they didn't ruin that aspect of the fest. Kids, test your shit before you dabble.

Gregg was released from the hospital in a day. Same issues he has had his entire life. I highly doubt he is done touring. However, he is also highly unlikely for this fest.
So I'm starting to do some quick math, and considering most of our potential group for Roo next year is based on renting an RV, I'm starting to realize it's not gonna be that much cheaper than Hangout. Between the RV fee, the fee per miles driven, the gas spent, the RV camping pass, and then Roo's ticket which is now $100 more than Hangout, it's really not that much cheaper at this point. Still gotta see if the lineup is a complete trainwreck but I may not be done yet...

yeah, my lowest level of tolerance for 'roo at this point is an RV in VIP, so it never really makes $ense....wish they would move it to Oct/Nov or March/April.
Peach is pretty much the only fest that I can get away with going away for four days without Shell and/or the family on a consistent basis. Shell is dead set on Hangout in 2017 so, lineup dependent, we will probably be back for another year. My anticipated run for 2017 is;
420 Fest in Atlanta (barring no Kid Rock debacle, with Shell, her sister and a buddy) Hangout (with Shell and whomever else can pony up the cash) Mountain Jam or Osheaga (with the family) Peach Fest (solo with a buddy) Some other cheaper fest(s) in there with the family such as Levitate in MA, Tumble Down in NH, Catskill Chill in NY, regional fests, etc.
My days of 6-7 fests a year are gone. Will be doing Coachella at some point as my brother lives in the area but that seems more like a 2018 thing at this point. Basically, it looks like Hangout 2017 is on for us.
Honestly give me Arcade Fire, The National, Chance, and a decent undercard and I can work with that. I've never seen AF or The National as I got into both after their recent tour cycles so I'd be ecstatic to see them on that beach. We also have the wildcard of tent acts to oppose poor headliners like Foals did this year so it could still shape out nicely. Barring any crazy life changes, this year is probably looking like:
- Hangout/Roo depending on our group/lineups
- Lolla
- Riot Fest depending on lineup since it's so easy to get cheap passes
- (Insert travel fest later in the year- ACL or Voodoo most likely)
Ok moten33 , tell Shell to bring her guitar. You are on the east side, correct?
Nope, we are west side. I may look to move if we really get serious about this though and depending on who is coming with us. I got a super cheap place up west beach but I would like to be closer if it isn't going to break the bank.
Looking forward to hanging out with you whichever side you wind up on. My guitar has a case and willing to travel. Just got a complete set of harps and purchased a Cajon. If Hangout can't produce, we will make our own music.
