Yeah it does. And it's a pending divorce that I don't really want to happen. This year it was separation. I'll pay the extra $30/40 for a better lineup, but if it's similar, then I'm probably out and willing to forget it completely. I was disheartened this year by my nephew who hasn't really been to any festivals besides a day or two of Buku. He was blown away by Hangout and said he's never missing it again. I'm like Damn, there's a reason I didn't go and no one else in the family did either B. But he really doesn't know that much music. So the scene was all it took (loud music, chicks, the beach parties, etc.). I'm all for all of those things, but the loud music kind of has to not suck. I've always said I was easy to please. But pop ain't gonna get my dollars.

This is spot on to my sentiments exactly. I WANT to go back...I MISSED not being there, but the cash flow spent couldn't be justified by the product they put out this year.

I'm afraid the Hangout is going in a Pop direction and I put a guess lineup out there
Some acts that would encourage me to pull the trigger on another year would include- Tame Impala~Chris Cornell~TVOTR~MMJ~Pearl Jam (saw them in Toledo, OH 20 years ago)~The War on Drugs~M83~MGMT~Getter~Thao & The Get Down Stay Down
Another week top of the line, but it does make sense given the territory. Id actaully pass.
I would only see 2 of the top 7 (probably end up being more by defaultbut at first glance) but after that there is a bunch that would keep me entertained.
The fact that it would still get you there is worth noting. I'm not sure if anyone here is capable of coming up with a realistic lineup that's shitty enough for some of you to say NOPE to.

It's been said here a 100 times, but is a festival on a beach. There are hundreds of mid sized, 2 or 3 days fests, with random assortments of line-ups that suck to some and/or are amazing to others. All these are either in a parking lot, a random city park, campground, or some motor speedway. Hangout is on a beach and that gives it a distinct advantage at a base level. It has very little competition aside from UME in South Padre, TX, Kaaboo Del Mar in Cali and whatever country based occurs in Florida.
On the other hand, I would have not gone to this festival with the 2016 line-up anywhere else. That "beach" advantage has its limits which was pushed for a lot of us that have been going over the past few years. A Drake-Mumford-VampW + "typical" mid tier would not bring me back. Vampire Weekend sounded terrible at ACL, no interest in Drake, I'd see Mumford. Especially with Okeechobee being a success, Jazzfest being even closer, hopefully a return of Wakarusa in 2017, I'd rather push to go to those whose line ups were/are far superior to Hangouts. I guess for me, the glamour of a "beach fest" has mostly worn off. The "experience" is also being very watered down with all this bullshit all over the beach grounds.
Drake – Mumford and Sons – Vampire Weekend
Twenty One Pilots – Kygo – M83 - Chvrches
Of Monsters and Men – Porter Robinson- Two Door Cinema Club
Out of this top 10 Excited to see 2: M83 & OM&M Content/Have seen 4: Mumford, 21p / Chvrches, TwoDoor No fucks given 4: Porter R, Kygo, Vamp, Drake

SUH DUDE! getter alone on the beach would sell me a ticket.
We need a thumbs down or "meh" button on this thread. I agree with JUICY JAY on the drake/vampire weekend lineup. Not so much. And vampire weekend would definitely not be better than most of the headliners at previous to 2016 hangout. But, to each his own.
The beach is like having Fleetwood Mac as a permanent headliner. It is a big draw for a lot of folks. If not for my love and respect for my family and needing to help them out at a tough time, I would have been there no matter what the lineup. Now, I've lost my primo condo location it seems and that has me wanting to wait for a lineup and then figure it out. I did not like the 2016 lineup, except for a handful of lower down the card performers. Hopefully, we will see a better set of headliners and not another spring break/teenager gone wild edition of hangout. If not, I had a great 8 days at Perdido Key at half the price. Took my favorite tunes to the beach on my Bose and met some awesome fun people. Meeting Dallas Moore at Florabama was a hoot. I could go for another beach weekend without hangout.
To be clear. I am not a proponent of that mock. Saw VW being thrown around in other threads and not in here as of yet. Was going realistic, not wish list.
I'm afraid we are going to see a couple of pop/EDM headliners again. I doubt they go back to the old ways.
As far as the success of this year, I think the crowds were bigger for the main acts, but smaller at the other stages. Since there were not as many conflicts, a lot of people were at the same stage. Also, the young kids were not spending the kind of money the older crowd does. I imagine beer sales were down this year. Also, even though they said everything was sold out at the last minute, VIP's did not sell out early like prior years. I'm not sure the new formula was a big money maker compared to prior years.
Bring Umphrey's back to oppose Calvin in the tent like Foals was gonna do this year. That'd basically eliminate a sh*t headliner while still getting the draw they want. I think we're all in the same boat here with Hangout moving forward- lineup pending. It's still an absolute blast of a festival but costs could be allocated elsewhere obviously.
Foals needed more time. "Fuck it, they're hear to party....this song is called Two Steps, Twice" I could have watch them just repeat their whole fucking set list for another 75 minutes and have been happy. They technically went "over" but this year everyone set times were cut back.
