Just want to add VW is as boring and bland as it gets and would make a terrible headliner. Also in no way would they be an upgrade over any headliner prior to 2016, he'll prob 2016 included.
Although I may book a condo this week, Hangout is dropping on my priorities for 2017. #1 is Levitation, a NY/West coast fest, and hopefully a return of Waka.
Can't support Cavin or someone wearing headphones, shades and playing a computer keyboard as a headliner. Just hook the sound system up to Pandora or pay me big bucks I'll donate to needy yutes, bail, and come up with a classic disco, rock, dance mix.
Gonna check out Tame and LCD at Roo and let you know later. There are some excellent classic rockers still performing and would love to see them. A Lindsey Buckingham/ Stevie Knicks Sunday closer would be amazing. Ditto Aerosmith, Buffett, Santana, and others. I'm ok with fair and Radiohead Friday and TEENIE Saturday night...but not two out of three nights going totally pop.
yea but Bob those acts wont draw here. they sure wouldnt get me to come back. We had the 2nd best act on the lineup oppose where Calvin would have played s it worked out. Not to say the calvin Harris' of the world have any business headlining bcuz they dont
Understand what you are saying ne215 and JUICY JAY, but bands of that type have been big draws at previous Hangouts and other festivals (Tom Petty, RHCP, KOL, Trey, Warren Haynes, Black Crowes, Black Keys, Jack White). One from this group as a headliner and second liner would sure draw me in. Lenny was not that popular but, sounds like he carried his position on the lineup. Definitely would have enjoyed Foals and Struts. Curious to see how 2016 will pan out with the Hangout organizers, community and vendors. If anyone has access to a final 2016 assessment in terms of revenue, local impact, etc, I would be interested.

Eevery review available online I've read today has praised the festival this year, especially because of the obstacles thrown at them last minute with the weather and Calvin's accident. Hard to imagine them changing too much from the script. Just throw a couple better bones is all I ask.

I liked all 4 of these acts but they didn't draw sh*t in 2013, Bob. It felt like it was empty in there that year. That's the issue. The main thing is mixing it up a little more with acts like those paired with Calvin, Walk The Moon, Fetty Wap type stuff. I don't want that stuff either but it draws. Just gotta find a nice mix.

I'd like to think that Goldenvoice would throw a little bit more money at this festival next year, since they sold it out and got great reviews in their first year in charge of it, they know that there's more money to be made here.
LCD is apparently dropping a new album and a full tour so wonder if they will still be active by this time next year.
My little home fest up here in St. Louis snagged LCD, so you'd have to think they're in play. Don't know if they'll still be touring by that time, though.
I imagine LCD will just be touring in regular venues by then and their fest appeal will have died out by the time 2017 rolls around. Considering how early the 2016 dropped means they had the Weekend,Calvin and Florence booked well before rumors of the LCD reunion started bubbling. Even if Hangout had caught wind and wanted LCD to be on the 16 line-up, there is NO way LCD would have allowed Hangout to be the first official announced festival for their re-union, especially before Coachella, nor would it have been worthwhile for Hangout to with hold the line up drop until after Coachella dropped theirs. Either way, well never see LCD on the beach until 2020 with Courtney Barnett and robot AXL ROSE & ACDC.
