Listening to new Amos Lee and Coheed and Cambria. Enjoyed their performances at Hangout and would go see them again, and again. Got tickets for Amos Lee and Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors in Nashville Sept 16th. Also can see Lindsey Stirling, love that violin/fiddle, and Baywatch, new album ok..."vacant", reminds me a little of Moon Taxi, at Hangout 2017.
Free live stream of what is likely The Tragically Hip's last show. Live from their hometown of Kingston, ON. I think it starts at 8:30 eastern.
(I'll be at a freaking black tie wedding.)
I was going to message you and see if you made it up for tonight. Larkin Square was 21+ so me and the kids are watching at home after the Bills game. So surreal.

Wow.....man. I'm just in in such a weird place after that. Three encores. Gord had to be helped off stage between each one and came back strong and killed it. I've never seen anything like that and the way the Canadian broadcast was talking about the band. It is just completely something unworldly. I know most of you outside of western NY and Canada don't know the Hip but they are literally bigger than the Beatles in Canada. The aftershow was talking about how more people would remember where they were watching this than JFK or other huge US events. The one lady was saying she called her mom during dinner and as what she was doing. Her mom didn't even know the Hip and her mom said she was making dinner. The woman said 'Oh I thought you might be watching the Hip show." And her mom replied "well of course I am". Canada was literally shut down for a night. Craziness. I am not the biggest Hip fan but I have seen them 6 or 7 times and I am just completely struck by tonight's events.

Yeah, so glad i did Vancouver because Toronto and Kingston just didn't work out. I was getting texts all night with people's emotions all over the place. A bar here in Atlanta actually hosted a viewing as well. It was a definite moment in rock history.
Lana Del Ray/Frank Ocean - Kygo - Arcade Fire - Sia
Chance the Rapper - Deadmau5 - Band of Horses - The National
Umphrey's McGee - Shelter - Empire of the Sun- Chris Stapleton - Charli XCX

Angel Olsen - Banks n Steelz - Anderson Paak - Prez Hall Jazz Band - Galantis - Mutemath - Shakey Graves
I'm bored today, tear this apart lol. I saw Eve 6 Saturday, my 2016 guilty pleasure.
Billing is all over the place but with a good schedule I'd enjoy this. I'd see the bolded for sure. I'd think they'd put a rock act in the tent oppo a DJ like Foals last year so put Umph there on Saturday oppo Kygo and throw Shelter oppo Lana or Frank Friday. I'd check out Shelter first and see how that is and if it doesn't keep my interest I'd just check the end of Lana or Frank on the way back to the condo. Nothing wrong with that. Chance, DeadMau5, and National as Surf closers would all be awesome as would Arcade Fire closing it down on Sunday unopposed.
until i see a mid size or bigger fest place them top 3 i cant do it, too depressing. I have them at 5 anyway whicih is still insane and you could argue them over Chance but i feel like Cahnce's recent momentum since Coloring Book would keep him ahead.
Sir The Baptist – AlunaGeroge – The Heavy – Oh Wonder - Gallant
You had me at String Cheese.
ive only been a very casual fan but after catching the set with the Allmans at Peach i have been listening to them a lot and really want to catch them live again.
Went thru some of the stuff I collected first six Hangouts and found a few patterns:
1. I only was familiar with a handful of performers prior to the festival. After Youtubes and iTunes I decided to give nearly a half of the performers a listen. 2. The Schedule and my schedule usually meant I was only going to see about 30% of the performers, half I'd never seen before and half were favorite must see shows. 3. The more the ticket and condo cost, the less I enjoyed the festival. 4. Having friends, my son, and some of you to enjoy the festival with probably made the biggest difference in overall enjoyment. 5. Finally, my favorite Hangouts had a big name, popular, I know the tunes and the words performer (Tom Petty, DMB, RHCP, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Zac Brown).
So, mock lineups are fun, but wish Hangout would keep the price down, sign a couple popular performers along with the majority of unknown or little knowns, and hope to see a lot of you and take my son with me next year.
Hangout is actually one of the cheaper festival tickets for one of its size. $250 with fees included is a good deal even for last years lineup.
I disagree completely with it being a good deal even for last year, and put my money where my mouth was at on top of it. Obviously someone could argue for the price of all these big pop acts, you're saving money. But outside of maybe 4 or 5 acts, they would have had to pay me to attend. I know you guys all had fun, but it's more about the music for me since I'm at the beach all the time anyway. And overall, that was as dismal of a lineup as any major or mid-major festival so far this year.
I mean would you rather pay 250 for hangout on the beach or 300 (lowest tier, highest was nearly 4 freaking hundred) before fees and camping for Firefly? For me $250 at the best festival venue there is (in my opinion) is easy for me to choose if there is enough i like on the lineup. Obviously there are some other similar sized fests that are worth it as well like Gov Ball, Hula, Voodoo, etc. Prob can include Osheaga, Wayhome too but im not sure how much they cost.
I'm going to pay it next year, so agree with you on the beach/venue argument. I agree with Chump that Hangout can put up such an onerous lineup that it makes the beach stink. The cost for me to do this trip has gone from $1500 to over $5000 when you add travel, condo, food, tickets, booze, t-shirts, etc. I can justify a trip to see a Tom Petty and the beach, but not Calvin Harris and The Weaknd. I hated to miss Jason Isbell and Lenny, so-so with Florence, and a few new groups like Judah and Kaleo. The rest...meh. My opinion. If you like it, go for it. If not, find another festival or fun activity. I had a great, and cheaper, time hanging with my cousin the week before Hangout this year. Missed my Inforoo friends, but please Hangout, give us a lineup a-la 2014.
