If fests like Roo, Coachella, ACL, and Lolla can't get Fleetwood Mac then it shouldn't even be speculated that Hangout could book them. I do wish I could see Metallica there but they are so far from their target demo that it's not possible imo. Same with acts like Tool, NIN, etc.

What was the last big U.S. Festival they played, Jazz Fest in 13? I couldn't get near the field (99% sure it was the day I was watching Phoenix on the other end but the bathroom lines were too long so I went and met Jabco at George Duke/Stanley Clarke and then tried to sneak over to catch the encore for FM and there was no room to get near that field or stage. You could hear it alright, but it was over-packed.
Pretty much nobody. GRiZ live instruments would be okay and maybe Big Gigantic, but it kind of ends there.
*edit* My Bad - you said headlining. Obviously no one.
Come on Esteban, I know you've got a guilty pleasure group you're holding on to. Don't be ashamed! It's a safe place here!
I probably do but the shot at Echo and the Bunnymen early 80's headlining isn't even an option.
For modern shit, it's so tough. I guess M83 would be okay, but I think they're probably more 4/5/6. And since Hangout doesn't really base the top 6 (other than usually the main stage headliners) on where they'll end up playing, it's hard to say who is a headliner beyond the Top 3. You could have a lower listed band like STS9 or Pretty Lights headlining Boom Boom, and I'd probably be there over some pop act that would now be closing the main stage. Obviously a highly talented act like Florence and the Machine is fine. I had no knock on them last year and would have been there had I gone.
I hoped that all the Spring Breakers would have been there and done that by middle of May. The first few years of Hangout it seemed like it was a little more mature and groovy crowd. ZBB, John Legend, TAB, then the awesome 2011 show with Foos, Cee Lo, OCMS, Warren Haynes, Amos Lee, and on and on, and now we are talking Spring Break boy and girl bands or maybe electronics with dubbed over classic rockers or DJs going ooooo and aaaaa in the microphone.
Can I get a witness? There are a lot of performers who are listed on Coachella shows I want to see, haven't seen, and could make Hangout Great Again (no pun intended). Just do it!
AC/DC, Muse, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Gorillaz, The Cure, Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, Steely Dan, Tame Impala, Pharell Williams, The Shins...others
I was ignoring rappers, but he'd be fine. I've seen him a couple of times. Chance would also be okay with me. I've already seen him and have tickets to a show this week. So neither of them is a "must see" for me, but don't get me wrong, I'd take them all day over Weeknd or Taylor Swift, or Timberlake or any of those Top 40 radio pop style acts.

Kendrick Lamar is the only act coming to mind for me.
mainstream friendly Headliners that we havent had yet i would like or tolerate:
Billy Joel (suck it, haters) Elton John (suck it again, haters) Timberlake (just dance, dance, dance) Bruno Mars (really enjoyed every live set of his i have seen, the band is tight) Eminem (only if he plays pre Encore songs) Kendrick (still dont buy him as a legit top 3) Coldplay (not a fan but i'd live bcuz the set i saw was fund and great production) Muse (do they count? Best production ive seen at a show thus far plus im a fan) Mumford (i like enough songs to sing a long to and never seen em, prob wont unless at a fest) Kanye (liked 1 of the 2 shows ive seen and havent liked that last 2 albums but if he played enough classics id be cool) Chance (let that boy headline!)

Holy shit boys if LCD is on the table next year we need to prey for them to headline Sunday or anyday.I danced myself clean at that Acl set. So much god damn fun and probably my favorite set of the weekend.

I'm with ya JUICY JAY on these: Billy Joel, Elton John, Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Muse, Mumford
I'm also good with: Bon Jovi (on tour and was a good show at the oil spill relief concert in Gulf Shores), Robert Plant (on tour), Stevie Knicks/Pretenders (on tour)m Metallica (yes, the older they get, the more they could make an appearance at the beach), Roger Waters, Neil Young, Will Smith,
If they will bring back: Umphreys McGee, OCMS, Gary Clark Jr, Flaming Lips, MMJ, Drive by Truckers, Galactic, Blackberry Smoke, Passion Pit, Amos Lee, Jason Isbell, Warren Haynes, Lenny Kravitz, Jamell Richardson, and other crowd favorites on a regular basis, I'm in.
What are some acts that fit the obvious Spring Break vibe that Hangout is targeting now that you guys would be okay with headlining?
There aren't many acts that fit that exact demo but I do think Hangout could balance it out more. Like there's no reason they couldn't have an act like Pearl Jam, Elton John, or someone like that close out Sunday. Like why not have a top 3 of Elton John | Kendrick Lamar | Twenty One Pilots. That might make some people puke but it's a great mix imo. I'd see Elton and Kendrick, and hit up the tent during Pilots. They'd still hit their target demos with Kendrick/21P but throw the older generations a bone. Follow that top 3 up with Kygo for a big EDM act, Lorde for a larger female-lead act, Avett Brothers for folk-rock, and The National as another large indie-rock band. I would see 5 (I love Lorde, don't hate) of that top 7 and that still primarily hits on the target market. That top 7 would get me to Hangout and I don't think it's anything too crazy. They usually do a decent job of plucking 10-15 acts I'm cool with seeing on the undercard too. I just think people don't want to see a top 6 of Drake | Calvin Harris | Lana Del Ray | 21 Pilots | Kygo | Future. That's the direction it feels like they're heading though.
Restaurant stage to appease the sweltering parents.
HA!
I figured sweltering Grandparents was more likely, but then there's probably 1000 16-25 year olds there that will know him. So BMI or else Paladia/AXS TV.
