Beach Goth got a good lineup, someone should make a thread for that if no one has yet. Anyways would be cool to see Bon Iver at Roo or Hangout/bigger fests next year

I'll have to give them another shot sometime. I said it before but that Bonnaroo set in 2012 was kind of boring.
I just realized a month from now is when the lineup dropped last year. It was right around 11/15 I believe. I'm really surprised we don't know more.
Also, not to gloat too hard because apparently I left money on the table and don't get to go now, but someone just paid $225.00 for my GA Chance the Rapper ticket for tomorrow. Wtf-f? Anyone with a shot to buy any over the next month or two, do it. My daughter weasled hers for free when she caught me drunk (me = nice drunk), and my niece offered me 125 (I let her have it for 110). Sum total is 325 and a free ticket for 150. > $200 is Pink Floyd level prices.

We listened to the new album on the way out of town on Sunday. The girlfriend said "I could see sitting somewhere on the back porch relaxing to this but who would want to see this live". I don't have enough exposure but I tended to agree. I have been to Newport Folk and those guys are always clamoring for Bon Iver but I couldn't see how that relates to most of the stuff I like from Newport. I get that Justin Vernon is a pretty big get, at least now, in the festival world. I have to do some more listening but I tend more towards esteban's tastes of jammy get you moving stuff or old school folk/Americana and so far I don't see where Bon Iver fits.
I'm not hating on it either. A lot of people I respect like them. So I don't want to be judgmental from a browbeat last day Sunday afternoon at Bonnaroo show. I was on blitzkrieg family vacation in FL 6 days leading up to Roo. So I was tired and maybe that was a slower set? We still partied down through most of Phish before blowing out that night and saw a bunch of other sets that day we jammed at. So that was my one pause that I probably should have liked it better.
Roger Waters tour starts May 26th in KC. Most likely won't be hitting Hangout but interesting enough.
Yeah I know it's pretty much impossible but a guy can dream of Roger Waters on the beach right lol. Also I know Kid Cudi is in rehab but he recently said the new album would still be in schedule for 2017 and dropped a new video and song that is pretty awesome. Would love Cudi on Surf Stage one night.
I would take this all day Bob. Not getting my hopes up though. If they dropped that top 3 with like Kygo (cus there has to be edm in the top 6) | Lorde | The National I'd be there no questions asked.
Honestly I think that top 3 is far and beyond better than last years. I'd be pumped about finally seeing AF and Kendrick has been great both times I've seen him. I don't hate KoL as much as most on here, but put anything mildly interesting in the tent that's probably where you'd find me.
I would definitely take that as top 3. I saw Arcade Fire at Panorama this past year, and I was never a big fan, but they blew me away and I would love to see them on the beach. KOL are always good live...and Kendrick I have never seen.

Bon Iver is a little too sleepy for me but I love another band of his, The Shouting Matches. More upbeat rootsy bluesy rock. Check em out.

Cudi said he may get out before complex con which is hard to believe seeing that is in like 20 days. But if he's that optimistic there's a chance we could get cudder on the beach. He's apparently awesome live

Sad to hear that it have heard so many different opinions on him he's just someone I wanna see for myself and hope maybe after rehab he comes performin great.
Top shows this year to get our minds off the imminent drop of line-up doom. (Side Note: The morale in this years thread is hilariously dark compared to the previous. Thanks Goldenvoice)
For me the obvious top to bottom is 1) LCD Soundsystem - ACL Weekend I (saw them again the 2nd weekend, but I was much further back and well, it was the same set. Not that it worse by any means) 2) The Strokes - Samsung @ SXSW 3) Umphreys McGee - Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe, PA 4) Miike Snow - Bangers @ SXSW 5) Foals - ACL Live Taping 6) Florence ATM - Hangout Fest 7) White Denim - Utopia Fest 8) People of the Sun (Moon Taxi) - Hangout Fest Pre Party 9) Pigeons Playing Ping Pong - Euphoria Fest 10) Lizzo - ACL Weekend II - most hype 12:15pm set ever
Honorable mentions: Lotus (I barely remember it), Big Freedia @ Hangout Still to go: Arcade Fire, Beach House, Bjork, Aphex Twin
Was a really light year for fests for me this year with no Lolla or Riot Fest. only did Hangout and other standalone shows. I'll just do a top 5.
1.) Tool- Chaifetz Arena, St. Louis, MO: First Tool experience. Life changing. I know some of the guys on here have grown a little tired of the schtick which I could understand if you've seen them on the recent tour cycles, but as a first timer it was everything I wanted it to be.
2.) Pearl Jam- Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL: Forgot how amazing this band is live. Hadn't seen them since 2011 at PJ20 and this show reminded me of why they're one of the best bands touring still.
3.) Guns 'N Roses- Soldier Field, Chicago, IL: Nostalgia overload. Sang my f*ckin heart out. Glad I got to cross Axl and the boys off my bucket list.
4.) Foals- Hangout Fest, Gulf Shores, AL: Eye opening performance. I think a ton of people in this thread found a new band that is can't miss for them at fests.
5.) Florence + The Machine- Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, Tinley Park, IL: Preferred this performance to Hangout because my seats were a little better and she played Cosmic Love. She's another act I won't miss when she comes touring through Chicago. I think she's earned herself a #2 slot on fest lineups when she comes back around. Maybe a #1 for smaller ones.

Yes! Pigeons! I have seen them numerous times this year and can't get enough. Street Teaming for the Buffalo show in a few weeks and hanging with the band. Love those guys. I don't remember all of my shows by a long shot and there are a ton of small shows that could be up here but here is my top 10 off the top of my head:
1. Dead and Company - Pittsburgh 2. Lebo and Friends Mardi Gras with Phil Lesh - Terrapin Crossroads 3. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong - Peach Fest Wave Pool Party 4. Dead and Company - Saratoga 5. The Allman Brothers Incident - Peach Fest 6. Dopakuaz Does Yacht Rock (Dopapod & Turkuaz) - Catskill Chill 7. Lennon Claypool - Buffalo Canalside in the pouring rain 8. Robert Randolph & the Family Band - Rochester Party in the Park 9. Keller Williams Grateful Grass with JP and Pappy from Cabinet - Catskill Chill 10. Turbine Does Radiodead - Catskill Chill
I haven't hit that moment yet to be able to figure it out. This will change with 2 more festivals to attend and a bunch of shows including Pretty Lights NYE run. F. this is going to be hard. I'm going to skip multiple versions of the same band as obviously Tool in Pensacola and New Orleans would qualify.
1. Neil Young & Promise of the Real Jazz Fest (includes 30+ minutes Cortez the Killer) 2. Tool Pensacola Bay Center (Birthday Tool Show = Money) 3. Primus New Orleans Smoothie King Center (too bad I missed most of the show the night before. This was great) 4. Deftones New Orleans @ Orpheum Theatre 5. Pearl Jam Jazz Fest 6. STS9 @ Euphoria 7. Kraftwerk in 3-D New Orleans @ Orpheum Theatre 8. Pretty Lights Live Band Buku Fest 9. Explosions in the Sky New Orleans @ The Joy Cinema 10. Juicy J @ Euphoria Fest
HM: George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic @ Bear Creek Bayou Festival Tycho @ Euphoria GRiZ @ Euphoria Arlo Guthrie's 50th Anniversary of Alice's Restaurant at Jazzfest My Morning Jacket at Jazz Fest Red Hot Chili Peppers @ Jazz Fest GRiZ/Break Science/Lettuce/Mystikal Buku Afterparty Superjam Fly Boi Keno/Mystikal/Juvenile @ Buku Fest About 7 Lettuce Shows (particularly Night 1 at Euphoria)

Ok I'm in for this.
1.Florence at hangout. Love her always and forever. 2. Foals at hangout. Melted my face 3. Hot Chip @ Observatory North Park 4. DJ Shadow @ HOB even though his stuff can be real chill at times he had an amazing visual show with a see thru screen that made everything 3D 5. Adele @ Staples Center. I took my mom to this and was kind of indifferent going in but she was amazing. Plus actual rain for set fire to the rain. 6. Diarrhea Planet at a dive bar by my house. Dudes are insanely talented.
I didnt see nearly enough shows this year. I've got Magic Sword, Moby and a Rocket from the Crypt Halloween show all coming up so hopefully I can add to this list.
1. Umph with cmack in Jim Thrope. Set list was absolute fire! 2. Chance @ Made In America. Lived up to the insane amount of hype i created in my head. 3. Muse @ Wells Fargo Center. Best production i have ever seen to this day, show was amazing. 4. Florence @ Hangout. I know i dont need to detail it for you all. 5. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong @ The Stone Pony is Asbury Park, NJ. They did a free surprise aftershow after Umph and Main Squeeze. 6. Portugal The Man @ Hangout. Another fire setlist and first time seeing them. 7. MuteMath @ Union Transfer in Philly. They did some shit i never seen before, not even sure how to describe it. 8. Vince Staples @ Hangout. Dude killed it and i had a killer spot. 9. Umph @ Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Might be higher if i could remember more. Got a free upgrade to side stage viewing doe. 10.Ja Rule & Ashani @ Electric Factory in Philly. Arguably the most fun i had at a show this year.
Honorable Mention: Frank Turner @ Festival Pier. He opened for Isbell and Stapleton but i went just for Frank. Gary Clark Jr @ MIA. He slayed but prob should have cut the slow songs.
I forgot about Vince Staples. We were hype after that! I've got Mutemath x2 so I am sure that will make the list. I seen em once this year on a date n the girl was absolutely not interested. I like PPPP is making a lot of lists n they should be fest favorite in a year or two. Hot Chip shows will always be in a top 10. Same w Diarrhea Planet. It amazes me how people are turned off by the name and style, but their live shows are fantastic.
Shit I have a lot coming up that may alter my list: First chance at finally seeing Lupe Fiasco in a few months. JagwarMa, Death From Above 1979, Thee Oh Sees, STS9, Tool, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Butthole Surfers.
This will probably be my most concert/fest heavy year. I don't think I want to repeat it. Total ticket expenditure for festival tickets alone is >$1,000.00 (no regrets)

I'm thinking total expenditures are in the $5k range (tickets, travel, camping, booze, tshirts, etc.). Ugh.
