Ack, doors at 9pm show at 10pm. wtf? Guess they are trying to compete with Tool? I'd like to see the Motet again but I ain't gonna realistically get to the Joy till 11:30pm at the earliest.
Question for people who have attended voodoo fest in previous years.. could anyone tell me approximately what time the headliner will start on Sunday? Being the closing day of the festival, wondering if it's a lot earlier than fri & sat nights? Considering making some pretty complicated travel arrangements just to catch Arcade Fire, but need an idea of their set time to see if I can make it work.
Digging checking out All Them Witches. That's definitely a cool act that I appreciate the heads up from everyone on the other threads. Kinda dark blues meets psychadelia meets old rock. Been watching this in parts as the more than casual introduction. Legit rock

I'm going to see them next Wednesday. Their newest album, Dying Surfer Meets His Maker, is great. I just recently got turned on to Masters of Reality and there's some similarity there.
Nice. I'm working my way through the discography now. I like all of it. They play the same day as Tool, Cage the Elephant and Ghost. I'm planning on reserving Voodoo Saturday for a mostly rock oriented festival day. I'm cool with that because I don't ever get enough rock. Idk Masters of Reality but you have to figure Black Sabbath and or Hawkwind influence with a name like that.

MoR was evidently a 90's band that somehow passed me by. They did an album with Ginger Baker on the kit that seems to known as their best.
I don't know. I'd assume it will. I would have considered 2015 VIP based on the perks alone. We don't usually do anything on NYE but hang out around the house and drink and watch firecrackers and some college football. This year, we're doing the back to back Pretty Lights shows at Mardi Gras World because those should be good particularly now with Alvin Ford Jr. on drums. Even though I prefer Deitch who is probably my favorite current drummer, Alvin Ford Jr. gives the band an entirely different feel. It's a bit jazzier and maybe a little more hip-hop oriented?
Perks from Last Year for a hair over $200.00: The VIP Experience will include:
Full Dinner catered by Jaques-imos Cafe Full Open bar from 9pm til midnight Champagne Toast An exclusive meet and greet with Galactic Access to VIP side entrance to the venue Access to VIP viewing section Signed limited edition Galactic gear along with Tipitina's Merch
That's a solid deal. I'd like open bar more than 3 hours but damage can still be done. I think drinks at Tips are like 6 or 7. Dinner at Jacques Imos would be around $50 with a drink or two; champagne toast is worth $15-20; merch is probably $50 or so value. The concert would be worth $45-50, and there's the meet and greet. So I think it adds up for the price. HMU if you end up coming into town.
jabco notified me the food vendors list is up. Many have links to their websites. Below is the list. I'm not sure they have all the items yet, as this is the first time I'm looking at it. I'll give my thoughts after the vendor if I know them or have any.
Boucherie - This is a great restaurant that's super cheap and specializes in smoked meats and meat deserts and stuff. A Boucherie is a giant pig party in Acadian where they dissemble the pig and cook all of him in many different ways. They are specifically known for good smoked wings. And it's hard to get in there sometimes because it's so cheap and the college kids that live in that area pack it in.
Bratz Y'all - This is (I think) a Bratwurst and Hot Dog food truck. I've had them before but only at festival kiosks. They're decent.
Bud's Broiler - This is a low-budget local hamburger chain where the one by my house is open 24 hours. It's far from great, but they do cook over an open fire grill which gives the burgers a decent charred flavor.
Cajun Corner - I don't know them. Looks like they'll be doing brisket sandwiches, pizza, alligator po-boys, etc.
Cafe' Navarre - I haven't eaten there. It's a lunch spot in Lakeview. For Voodoo, it says they will have crispy fried duck quesadillas and Pastalaya (pasta jambalaya instead of rice) with ground pork and smoked sausage and finally shrimp and corn bisque.
Cartozzo's Bakery - Crawfish Bread and Seafood Pasta in a bread bowl. I had this last year and it was decent.
Dat Dog - A higher end local hot dog chain that specializes in avant garde toppings and quality sausages. Definitely decent.
Crepes A La Carte - This is a from a food truck. I've eaten them many times. The bacon/basil/mozzarella they usually have is great. They do a nutella one too usually.
Ernst Café' - This is a downtown bar/establishment which is upper end bar food. I'd assume they'd be doing hamburgers or crab cakes or something.
Koz's Restaurant - This is (I think) the surviving offshoot of Po-boy Bakery from Gentilly. They cook their own meats. I'm assuming they'll be serving po-boys though there may be lunch plate specials like rice and beans or something.
Festivous Gourmet - I never heard of them. There is no write-up, so no telling what they're going to be doing.
Jambalaya Girl - Never heard of her. I'm guessing she's going to do Jambalaya.
Peck's Seafood Restaurant - Never heard of them. Only thing Voodoo notes is "big portions."
Petite Rouge Cafe' Camionette - That's a local coffee roasting truck. I can't remember which coffee shop they are affiliated with. But this will be coming in handy for me.
Reginelli's Pizza - A pretty good local chain pizzeria. They do piss me off sometimes because they put fresh parmesan cheese on their pizzas making them stink to me. But otherwise, they are good.
Rusty Pelican - That's an SEC/Alabama Fan Boy bar in the Warehouse District. It says "Fresh salads, juicy burgers, delicious seafood, and local beers.
Swamp Kitchen - Looks like a plate lunch special place. I like Mid-City Pizza, so this may be decent. From the website: Swamp Kitchen is a cajun culinary venture involving Casey Bergeron and Mid-City Pizza owner , Rand Owens. Casey came from a very successful plate lunch restaurant in Broussard, LA called Cricket’s Kitchen. He was an apprentice to Jonathon “Squintz” Vannoy for 4 years where he learned the majority of his culinary skills.
The Big Cheezy - This is a grilled cheese sandwich place that I think started up as a bar pop-up kitchen that now has 2 or 3 establishments around town. I'm not big on cheese, but people love them.
Tru Vietnamese Café - Doesn't have anything by it. I'm assuming they'll have Bahn Mi's and Pho. ------------------ Looks like Voodoo upped the game a little, but I'll miss Drago's Fire Truck (because they broadcast the Saints games on it and Voodoo Sunday is Saints vs. Seahawks). I'll also miss Fireman Mike's and then the Yakiniku Poboy from Ninja's catering company. But this looks like I'm going to have to try several of the vendors this year.
Also Voodoo mentions "Voodoo Cashless Payments" so I guess you can tie in a debit card to a wristband or something. I know they brokered that out at ACL or Sx a few years ago. It's just too tempting for me, as I'd rather be on a cash basis.
Also they note some vegan and vegetarian options from Blue Oak BBQ which pretty much rules, and we eat it about every 10th day or so because it's only a few blocks from my house. While a little on the expensive side, they have great side dishes, so hopefully, they'll have some of them.

nice list, thanks esteban. dat dog will be getting my money. we discovered the dat dog on magazine last jazzfest, definitely several steps ahead of your normal hot dog.

I avoid all their places like the plague. It's so bad for you, and damn if the Andouille "gravy" is anything but pork fat and cholesterol. But it tastes good. Haha. I'm looking at:
Boucherie - Whatever they have will be good
Cajun Corner - No doubt some stuff to soak up alcohol like red beans and rice or jambalaya
Café Navarre - Can't ever get enough corn and shrimp soup
Festivous Gourmet - Because I like the name. No idea about them, but I'll be giving them a hard look once the menus come out
Peck's Seafood - This turns out to be in Slidell. If they have Shrimp Poboys or something, I might grab one of those along the way.
Jambalaya Girl - Could come in handy
Petite Rouge - Old people need caffeine for a 10 hour party day
Swamp Kitchen - the best Louisiana food comes from Lafayette area, and this guy is from the suburbs (Broussard, LA). Whatever they have will be good.
Tru Vietnamese - I'll probably want a banh mi at some point
I'll probably hit 1 or 2 things a day. And with my 3 kids no doubt trying to feed me some of what they get along the way, I should be able to hit all these.
One more thing - they updated the sponsor's list. I was completely remiss last year planning to get my bandana and zippo on Sunday but lost out when it flooded . I'm going to try to hit both of these early on Friday to get. The Zippo design for last year was fucking cool.
Toyota (hopefully a small stage to go along with it)
Rock Revival (clothing company)
Smirnoff (I won't be drinking vodka, but it could be worse)
Funyuns (my daughter texted me this application for $18.00/hour passing them and other merch out. Obviously I'm there for the fest, not to work it. But $18/hour isn't bad money for someone who needs some help paying for their trip or ticket. They have day and night shifts.
Cupcake Vinyards (low rent but usually tasty wine)
Rusty Pelican is a restaurant on the north shore I believe. I think you were thinking Rusty Nail. Koz's BBQ ham pretty much rules. They're on Harrison in Lakeview and I think Hickory in Harahan. Also, Crepes ala Carte has a brick & mortar over by Tulane if you're ever craving it. Solid job on the food yet again by Voodoo. 36 days. :clapyell:
Yo, Sarge, were you at Wiiidesprayud Painic layust niiiite? If so, any further details on shenanigans from this guy my friend sent me pictures of would be appreciated:

Yeah, that's right. It's on the Mandeville Lakefront. I was thinking of Rusty Nail.

I see nothing weird about this security gaurd going in for a solid hug.
awesome, i'm pretty excited to see the schedule. looking forward to mapping out my day.
in other news melody just got the word that she does NOT have class friday morning. we were going to be leaving friday after lunch but now we can get up and head straight over. i doubt there will be an early afternoon act i'm dying to catch on friday but this at least makes the short trip over less stressful.

Kishi Bashi is playing the day after Of Montreal in Austin before Voodoo and both heading towards NOLA. Has he ever jumped back with OM? Id be stoked for a random night show with the both of them.
