Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Mountain Jam is pretty nice. The two main stages are side by side at the bottom of the mountain, and people sit going up the mountain looking down. The third stage is inside one of the main buildings, and has a couple hundred capacity.
For camping, it can and has gotten chilly at night. I've been up there and it was 60 during the day and dipped into the 40s if not upper 30s at night.
Thanks for the info! Do you think they'll be adding any more artists to the lineup? I believe they added Robert Plant later after the initial lineup last year, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm debating on going to this, as it seems like it could be a great time.
I'm still considering Governor's Ball, but this seems a lot easier to get to logistically, and its cheaper. However, Governor's Ball has the better lineup so far..
There will probably be a few, but not too many.
Mountain Jam is a smaller festival than Govs Ball, and has a more niche/focused approach to its lineups. Govs Ball will always have the better lineups, unless you're really into the style(s) of music that Mountain Jam offers. The better comparison between Mt Jam and another fest is Newport Folk.

That's OK with me. Personally, I'm more into the style of music that Mountain Jam usually has, but I've never made the trip there.
I'll wait until the Peach Festival releases their lineup before I make a decision, but I'm definitely considering this one.

Totally true - I considered Gov Ball before this line-up dropped. But this is way more my style. I also love camping/fests in nature more than city fests. I like not having to make my way home or to a hotel each night.
Camping wise there are a few options at Mt.Jam - you can camp on the side of the mountain where you don't have your car (you drop stuff off, go park, and haul your stuff up to where you want to be) -- otherwise there are a few camping very near or at your car options for payment .. if you are going with friends and split it it makes sense). And I don't think camping at fests is that terrible difficult -- there is a wealth of knowledge on these boards that can be so helpful for your first time.

Are you going with friends or going solo??
Thanks for all of your advice/input! I appreciate it
If I go, it'll be with just me and my little brother (not really that little anymore haha he's 22). I'm primarily waiting to see what the Peach Music Festival is doing first, but if it doesn't turn out as rumored, I'll probably be going to this instead! I'm a big fan of a lot on this lineup, and it can only get better from here!

The festival’s 2016 lineup includes a tribute to the group’s classic Led Zeppelin II album, which will be performed in its entirety by Train. That set is scheduled to open the Mountain Jam Main Stage at 8PM on Thursday, June 2, part of a headlining bill that will also feature a performance by Umphrey’s McGee.

Wow, I thought this lineup was a little poppy for Mountain Jam to begin with...
When Train first came out, Amazon classified them under the jam band category. Id be searching for new releases and see a bunch of Train albums and wonder what I was missing.

The schedule is up but the format of it up on their site is terrible. They just list all the bands out with their times but not side by side or anything. Just in order from first to last. Difficult to easily see who is overlapping with others.

I guessed that. I couldn't find a good map or other thing on their site and it's been a few years since I last went so didn't realize they had names. I thought it was just east/west or whatever.

It has been East/West in the past...the renaming of the stage as valley makes me think it isn't right next to the main stage like last year, but is actually a bit separate a bit further down the mountain. This would be disappointing to me because I liked being able to see both bands...but if they play through the speakers I'm sure it won't be that big of a deal. I just want to see the map to confirm if the stage has moved or what.

so I don't think they would move the stages. I can't really picture where else in the space it would even fit. I think the times are just going to flip back and forth between stages - which for this size festival I don't mind. I can park my blanket in a spot for the day and just chill. The only overlap would be if you are attending a workshop or you are trying to see an act while they play Healey Hall. I'm guessing Mountain stage is the old East Stage -- the slightly bigger one.

Officially going to Mountain Jam. If I can't do Bonnaroo (and likely can't do Newport) I need some kind of festival in my future. Beck/Avetts/Wilco was made for me.

YASSS! My plans still aren't finalized as I have been waiting on my friend, but you'll likely see me at some point over the weekend (but hopefully for most of the weekend). I'll text you at some point to chat.

Inforoo meet up at Mountain Jam? The wife and I are doing mountain top car camping for the first time since it looked so cool floating above it in the ski lift last year
I've contemplated going on Saturday, but costs and rain may keep me away.
There's a live stream again this year on Tourpedo. It's considered pay as you want, but the minimum donation (some charity, don't remember what) is 19.99. I put down 20 even.
Second guessing this now. Just found out that I don't have the half day on Friday that I thought I had. With the time that I just took off for RR, I can't take more time off right now, which would probably nix a weekend pass. Back to considering a day pass...

I still hate the formatting of their schedule. They updated the site but kept the schedule looking the same. I know there are only really 3 stages but I hate reading it in that format. Going to make my own in Excel or clashfinder or something.

It's a pretty good live stream schedule too. Not that that's a substitute for being there, but it makes missing it easier....

This is one of those "Pay Whatever You Want" (as long as it is at least a set price that is the normal price for most shows anyways) type streams right?

Yes. I think it's $5 per day, but it's definitely $20 for the weekend.
The only things I notice missing from the live stream schedule are Beck, Thievery Corporation, Train doing Zepp II (and everything before it on Thursday), and stuff in the Healey Brothers Hall.

Looks like $9.99 per day minimum or $19.99 for the entire weekend. I just have a problem with them calling that "Pay What You Want". The minimim set is the same as any single day stream and the weekend is the same and any two or three night Phil/Umph/JRAD run. Its not even less. Tell me it costs X amount. Dont make it sound like you're doing me a favor. That being said I will probably get the weekend.

Are the main stages no longer side by side? The Q&A video makes it sound like they are back to back. So do we have to move from front to back for each set?

True. Although if I don't go, I will be pretty busy with my second job and a baby shower and probably won't be home much. And I'll be honest- I am rarely home and when I am, I am trying to catch up on my shows so I rarely stream things like festivals. So if I am not there, I usually miss it.

My crew had the same freak out yesterday, but they do think they're side by side still. I haven't seen the video nor looked at the app myself.

Yea, wasn't sure cuz the video didn't show too much and they said the stages were "flipped" but maybe that just means on opposite sides but still side-by-side. Definitely would have been disappointed if that had been a major change.

All packed. Heading up tomorrow morning. Should be great. Looking forward to a lot of the "early" bands and seeing how good they all are. Love the headliners and a lot of the other main acts already.
