Is this lineup really that different from the previous ones, or did all of you just have ridiculous expectations?
Maybe not different in terms of band recognition and festival bookings. I much preferred last year's lineup to this years from top to bottom. Although I don't do EDM and prefer rock to most anything else which I think it pretty lacking in the 2-4 lines. Different tastes I would say instead of different overall lineup versus other fests.
Edit: For example, I just sent the poster to my girlfriend and got a response of “Oh wow, that is amazing” when I usually have to talk her into fests and explain what bands are what. But that means more likely I will be there.

I get the top line being weak, but Radiohead. 2 and 3 are bad, especially if you don't dig M83 and Grimes, but after that there's a lot to work with. Are you not into Last Shadow Puppets? Just for the rock stuff there's Silversun Pickups, Foals, Kurt Vile, MF Wolf Parade. The Arcs are awesome live. All of those plus Radiohead is one of the strongest rock lineups I can think of so far this year. Plus the solid offbeat electronic like Kalkbrenner, Terje, Rufus, Classixx. And expected additions.
This just seems every bit as strong as past years, with better headliners.

True, I guess 2-3 is my biggest deal. I'm good with the top line even as I haven't seen RHCP before. I guess I'm kind of skewed on some of the acts you mentioned as I am seeing Silversun, Foals and Kurt Vile all within the next month. A festival repeat won't be terrible but it's not exciting I guess. Excited for Wolf Parade and The Arcs but I am seeing the Arcs this summer as well. I honestly don't know enough Last Shadow Puppets. I'll put them on this afternoon.
Edit: Basically I just go to too many shows to get new stuff at a modern festival I guess. haha
Last year the high billed acts that opposed headliners were Tyler the Creator, Schoolboy Q, and Caribou. Acts like Disclosure and M83 will surely be on one of the main stages
Counting on Paul Kalkbrenner, Future, Grimes, and/or Flume playing opposite a headliner this year.

i like it and the bf approves as well. there's a lot of good stuff here, and i'm looking forward to exploring the stuff i'm not familiar with. it'll be a nice reason to see montreal for the first time.
LDR as a HLer is underwhelming; she'll likely be up against something appealing on a smaller stage, though. As others have said, RHCPs are certainly past their prime, but most casual festival goers will probably be excited to see them.
Definitely need to do some research into this undercard before forming a resolute opinion, but there are some good gets in the bottom half for sure.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I had been planning to do WayHome to Osheaga, but not sure this lineup warrants a whole week of expenses in Canada.
Same for me. I'd also have to drive back to Michigan to drop off some friends right after WayHome, so I'm probably going to pass on Osheaga in favor of following Radiohead for a few days at another point in July. I've already seen every act on there that I want to see, and most recently- although a few do have new material (Beirut, Radiohead, Kurt Vile, Classixx, and BØRNS just on first glance).
I was really hoping for LCD or Arcade Fire. Having Radiohead, LCD, and Arcade Fire all at one festival would be about as close to perfect as a top line can realistically be.... This is what I get for dreaming *sigh*

really torn between this and wayhome, I like the Wayhome headliners a lot more but wayhome is another 3 hours from me, but the osheaga undercard is better than wayhome a pretty good bit. is it worth risking this selling out to wait for the panorama lineup?

For what its worth it seems like Osheaga rarely sells out before June if that.

After seeing many lineup releases, I've come to the conclusion that nothing pleases any of you.
That fact that no one is crying out in anguish should tell you that this was one of the best lineups released so far. Obviously when you start predicting RH, AF, Yeezy, LCD, etc you're setting yourself up for disappointment. The typical mental process of lineup releases goes something like this: initial outrage & disappointment > complaints about better prior years > acceptance > research > enlightenment > enjoyment. For me personally, the only slightly disappointing thing was LDR @ #2 but I knew we we're getting any sort of inforoo holy trinity. Lines 2 and 3 might be slightly weaker than last year, but the top 3 and everything else makes up for that. The fact that I like this lineup a lot without doing any research tells me that I'm going to absolutely love it by the time July rolls around.
The only other thing I was really hoping for on the lineup was Stromae because he cancelled last year, but I wasn't getting my hopes up because it doesn't look like he's touring at all.

"We've been trying to get them since the first year, so it's really exciting," beams founder and VP of Concerts and Events at Evenko, Nick Farkas.
"We'd had discussions with Radiohead in previous years, but we never got our hopes up - even this year we didn't. They confirmed pretty early on in the game (last September), so to have that giant piece in place took a lot of pressure off. There was a lot of high-fiving in the office that day."
According to Farkas, there will still be a "second wave" of artists to be announced as they get closer to the festival kick off.
"We're pretty much done at the top, but we've got a few spots we can play around with. he says. We're keeping our eyes open to anything that might come together late, but 90% of the lineup is done."

question: why exactly do people on here hate Lana so much? if its because of the crowd that she draws to fests? if its because of the 14 year olds in flower crowns obnoxiously smoking cigarettes i get it, but i personally think she is a very talented and original artist. don't think she's quite HLer worthy though.

My best friend and I have been in discussions for the last 4 hours - we are deciding between Gov Ball and Osheaga. He's a guy for whom Radiohead does not do much. I'm legit torn.

Personally I think the Govs Ball lineup is better. I don't like NYC though, and it's more expensive. Have you been to Montreal?

I'm going to Gov Ball, but only because its closer. Osheaga's line, two headliners aside, is easily better.

No, and that's one of the best cases for us to go.

I'm not sure of that for me, personally. I keep wanting to commit to Osheaga and then get FOMO over Gov Ball.

What happens when Panorama slays?
I'm sure lots of people will have fun; I have my midseason fantasy baseball trip that weekend, so no go for this guy.
