I honestly don't trust myself biking after drinking at a fest all day, so with that option thrown away, which would you recommend?
1. Get an AirBnb near the Station Papineau metro stop.
I think that would make the fest fairly walk-able by taking the bridge (correct me if I'm wrong). Looks to be a bit further from downtown though, but would be close to metro line.
OR
2. Get an AirBnb near the Berri-UQAM metro stop
This would be 1 metro stop away from the fest and closer to downtown, but it seems like the metro wait heading back at night can be pretty severe. It would suck to be sitting around waiting to get back

we took the berri metro... one night we walked a bit towards the bridge and caught a cab, and the other nights left a few mins early before the mad rush to get the metro, it was crowded, but not unexpected. also the last day we took an uber to the fest, and they dropped us off at the second entrance, which we had no idea about... there was no one there, it was glorious

Goodluck getting an Airbnb directly next to the bridge for under 30 bucks a night, all the ones I've tried have denied me because they are seeking long term tenants and one never responded in the 24 hour time limit. Frustrating to say the least, I'm trying for a place now that is about five metro stops from the venue so hopefully it works out, super cheap apartments if you can actually snag one.

Ok cool, so it sounds like being close to the Berri isn't too inconvenient. Was the line for the Metro back really long even if you already had your return ticket purchased?

Price isn't a huge concern for me. I'll likely be booking a place that sleeps 4, so I'm fine with anything that's moderately priced. It sounds like a place next to the bridge would be somewhat desirable though?

Best of luck finding a spot.
You should have no problem getting a 4 person place for under $70 and that's being generous. I suppose closer to the bridge would be desirable, I don't see many option very close to the bridge save for the 1-2 person apartments I was talking about earlier.
Funny you just messaged me, I just got approved for a place super cheap ($20 a night) up near the Joliette metro station. It may be further away from the city but the metro can get me wherever I need. Now the only thing I'm worried about is that the price doubled after I already got approved for the cheaper price, hopefully I don't get canceled on.

yup! it was just crowded. they had some cops directing people. the first night was a shitshow though. once we were let through, it was fine

Unless you plan on biking or cabbing, being close to Berri is definitely convenient as it's only one metro stop from the park... But yes, unless you leave early (or plan on doing some line-cutting, which will result in some well-deserved hate) then the metro line after the fest can be pretty long. I think the longest I've waited was 45 minutes, but I've heard a lot worse.
All that said, there's a shit ton of great options all around the city, and not being close to Berri really doesn't add much to the trek. One year we stayed near Guy-Concordia. It added maybe 10 minutes each way, but the area surrounding Guy-Concordia (Crescent street) was worth it.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. If my friends and I didn't want to wait in line I suppose we could always just walk the bridge and take the metro from Papineau down to Berri
just booked an airbnb that is less than 15 minutes from the park on bikes, or 35 walking for pretty cheap. now to get my bf to finally get his passport.

The issue with the metro is trying to get into the station (everyone having to go through the turnstiles). Once you're past that it's not crowded and you just get right on the train. You need to leave before 10 to not hit a wait. Most people get a weekend pass for the metro, so that's not really an issue. Being on The Berri line is convenient, but not really neccessary. As long as you're close a a line, you just switch trains at Berri.

Hey festyfun do you know what the situation is with hammocks? Enough viable trees, do they allow them in the fest, have you seen anyone with them previously?

After thinking Gov Ball over and coming up with a meh, I'm thinking this might be my major fest this year. Especially with Thom and da boiz "confirmed". Anything like Wolf Parade, LCD, The Strokes, and Tame Impala would get me there in an instance. The short flight from Boston definitely helps as well.
And of course Arcade Fire but I'm not counting on them.

There are plenty of trees, and there were hammocks as well - I'm not sure if they were personal hammocks or ones put there by the festival though.

99% sure personal hammocks weren't allowed the years I've gone, but there're a couple sponsored hammock spots.
(I know LaunchPad shot this down so it's probably just terrible reporting but figured I would add it out there).
Has anyone brought kids? Is the fest family friendly?
I would say it is pretty family friendly - there is a playground, last year they had a whole area with fair style rides and games. I have certainly seen kids of all ages, but not a lot. They don't have a kid stage like lolla.

Thanks! Trying to figure out the logistics for this and may end up bringing the kids. Theyll be ten and have been to a bunch of shows but never a fest. Helps that 10 and under is free.

Tame Impala out with Montreal date in June. Also, FWIW Alex Young of CoS said on reddit that Kanye is headlining a Canadian festival that's not Wayhome.

After deciding not to do Bonnaroo it's come down to this and Lollapalooza as my other major festival for the summer, cause of Radiohead. Leaning towards this cause the strong US dollar and having family in Montreal would make this way cheaper. Up until now the only thing keeping Lolla in play was the possibility of them getting Kanye, I can't say no to Kanye in Chicago. But holy shit if Osheaga got Kanye that would be amazing.
See this is why you deserve CHVRCHES as your only precoachella option
Lol, what'd I do?
Well if I remember correctly you were having a back in forth with Launch pad where one of you mentioned Wayhome stole LCD from Osheaga and the other replied that it was fair based on who Osheaga stole from Wayhome which wasn't mentioned by name but we assumed was Radiohead. So it just seems like your trying to get us to have unrealistic expectations. Which I admit hoping for both Radiohead and Kanye on the same bill is already pretty pie in the sky but still don't make it worse

Alex Young also said Gov Ball was the only US fest Kanye's playing from what he knew.
