Been going to Roo since 2010 and this is by far the worst lineup I've seen them put out. Pearl Jam and LCD are great bookings, Dead & Co is good, just not into jam bands here. Other than that...this looks really bleak. Where is the token nostalgia act? Third Eye Blind...ummmm, they played Firefly last summer. The EDM on this thing is dreadful, is there not an EDM headliner? I find it pretty shocking that they'd go from Skrillex, Deadmau5, Bassnectar, and Pretty Lights being the highest billed EDM to having RL Grime or Flosstradamus being billed highest. Shaky Knees has a much better lineup, as does Gov Ball and Coachella. Kind of wish my boyfriend wasn't responsible and bought a pre-sale ticket, kind of locks us into Roo this year, ugh.
They have to be holding back the top 6 acts, even if you put the Pearl Jam, LCD, and Dead on the lineup the billing looks shockingly weak. Tame Impala at 5 or 6 when they're 9 at Firefly? I'm really hoping they have some surprises in store. Other than that this is the list of acts I'm excited for:
PJ LCD Tame Impala DCFC M83 Miguel CHVRCHES Big Grams Grace Potter Purity Ring Two Door Cinema Club Borns
Only 12 acts over 4 days, if any of these conflict looks like I'll have a pretty shitty time.
It does feel shockingly thin at the top. How could Flosstradamus possibly be the highest-billed EDM act? I hope they're holding back at LEAST Pretty Lights or Major Lazer or someone like that.

It's a small ray of psychedelic sunshine, but if any of you haven't checked out Dungen you should. If you like wild rad shit. I think "4" is a pretty good place to start. Swedish prog psych rock/folk.

One of the few redeeming gets in my eye.
I think they might be the only cross over from Levitation?
If you want to feel even more upset, look at the Boston Calling lineup. Disclosure, Sia, Robyn, Sufjan, Charles Bradley, Battles...seriously who the fucked booked Roo this year?

Did you have some reason to think Lana was playing?

Last year was my tenth Bonnaroo, beginning in 2003, and seventh with photo access. 2014 was indisputably my peak Bonnaroo experience, but outside of a couple of really, really good shows, 2015 was my low point, for a few reasons outside of the music itself. This lineup looks like it would easily undercut that. All I see are industry plants, established bands that make their living on the festival circuit and baaaaad electronic. What's really hilarious to me is that most of the music blogs I see reporting the lineup leak are promoting it with such ingratiating language that you almost have to question their sincerity, if not their judgement as well.
My crew is excited to go because of Third Eye Blind...ugh. I don't hate them but they're FAR from the kind of act that sells me on Bonnaroo.
So assuming the top 6 is PJ * Dead * LCD * J Cole * Ellie * Tame ... who is 7-12? Is it really Macklemore * Death Cab * M83 * CHVRCHES * Haim * Miguel? Or am I out of touch and there are some acts in here that are bigger than I know?
Just feels like more than just the top 3 are missing. But of course that isn't true.

Yes, Lana has commissioned work on staging for an outdoor amphitheater tour that we have a live date of June 8 for, technical rehearsals are being held in Nashville and I was assuming she was debuting the tour at Bonnaroo. Guess not, on the bright side looks like she'll be in the general vicinity to start her tour if anyone wants to see her before Roo.

How many festivals released their lineups early this year? The game changes, maybe releasing the lineup in bulk on their app is bonnaroos way of attempting to acclimate. The TI LN thing really confuses me, I don't remember them ever specifying that. I'm not expecting more than 3 headliners added to this, but I don't think this was accidental and I certainly don't think anyone is losing their job this morning over a leak. If there are more than 3 names added to this list next Tuesday, I'm going to assume this was a hilariously shortsighted stab at "viral" marketing.
Uh, what? I don't think you know how "viral marketing" works. This was pretty clearly a slip up on their part, and it's not the first time something like this has happened.
Thats kind of my point. This happened already. Do you not think they could afford to avoid these errors? If there is something more substantial to consumers beyond the vanilla undercard, and the general consumer doesn't read inforoo or /r so doesn't know about dead / LCD booking but do have Facebook or twitter, they saw this on the feed. If they tune in to conan next week and see dead and LCD, perhaps it will entice more potentially fringe consumers.
So, why would a complete leaked lineup not include headliners? I don't understand why they would wait until the last minute to add headliners to the lineup, wouldn't the most expensive acts would have been squared away months ago?

This is the part that makes no sense and makes the leak seem intentional. If you're inputting info into an app by alphabetical order, why do you purposely leave out the 3 headliners? Only reason I can think is that they intentionally leaked this and knowingly withheld acts from the list. If this was a true leak you would have to assume all the acts are loaded at the same time.

If the schedule works out alright, I'll make a day trip to see some combo of LCD or Pearl Jam/Tame Impala/Ween/FJM/etc. But a full weekend is looking pretty unlikely.

I don't understand it when people say things like, "they spent so much money on the headliners, of course the undercard is bad."
Don't shitty acts cost as much as the good ones in most cases? At least for the middle third of the lineup. It's just bad decision making all the way through this thing. For example, how much more would Bob Moses have cost than Big Grams? I understand that the more rare an act is, the more expensive, but in many cases I feel they just made bad choices because the organizers have bad taste in music.

...this makes no sense. They already have their own little hype up campaign with the clues. They're not going to surreptitiously leak the lineup via the app as a way of attracting attention, especially when they're hyping up the lineup drop on Conan.
And why wouldn't they?
- Roo clues lead up to the lineup drop - 2016 lineup drop follows arguably one of the best years for festivals. Stacked festival season abound. Options galore. Much music. - Lineup accidentally leaks online, somehow lacking in what are non-confirmed headliners (LCD, Dead) and confirmed headliners (PJ) - Immediately removed! oops, it's the internet so that was stupid and it takes away viewership from Conan! Except lots of people believe there is more to be seen on the lineup, lots of people believe there isn't, and everyone wants to point the finger and laugh at the other - Creates an even larger swell of attention for the Conan viewing.
Am I being that unrealistic, given that this whole accidental lineup leak on the app already happened? How many festivals have apps? How many accidental festival app leaks can we think of? I might be wrong.
I think you guys nailed it. This was clearly a false flag lineup leak. We're through the looking glass, people.
To be honest, I'm really not all that optimistic after last year's lackluster lineup. But, seeing as they omitted some artists on this leaked list, there is still hope for a few nice surprises.

Yeah, just look at 2013. Roo likely spent $3-5 million on Paul alone, and still managed to book a terrific undercard. I think they're just getting lazy and taking advantage of the festival bubble before it pops.

Great, now there are Lineup Leak Truthers.
Well I was trying to have a conversation with you about why it could be a possibility, but it looks like you've got your asshat on today. Good chat.

The "they left acts out of an intentional leak" theory doesn't work due to the number of acts and the fact that known large arena acts like Ellie, Coley, and Macklie are there.
It's really kind of a self-serving wish of "they left out the cool acts that I like", which doesn't hold water.

Personally, I feel like Bonnaroo hit a home run this year with the headliners, but during its next time up to the plate, the at bat pertaining to the rest of the lineup, it hit a single and got thrown out trying to take second. There is stuff I want to see (Tame Impala, M83, Big Grams, Clutch, Dungen, Father John Misty, FIDLAR, Kamasi, Haim, Ween, Lettuce, etc.), that appeals to me, but there is an absence of killer "gets." I'm still going, so maybe this year I can sell myself on the fact there will be fewer conflicts.
In all seriousness, I'd love it if you were right. But you're giving Bonnaroo wayyyyy too much credit.
Every year there is a questionable line-up or an artist was expected that didn't end up on the poster, people expect Bonnaroo to have an amazing reveal at the last second to save the day. It never happens. Ever. After 9 Bonnaroos, I can safely say that what you see is what you get.

Anyone who bought Presale to this mess would be partaking in wishful thinking right now. We usually have good reason to spend $500 and spend the weekend living like animals.

I'm not expecting some wild KO, but this as a 15 year makes no sense. This + the 3 agreed HLs being added to conan drop next week = exactly what I've come to expect from Bonnaroo.
Are people really expecting Conan to do a reveal where he talks about an incomplete fake leak that went out to try and dupe people into thinking that Bonnaroo missed Beck and Hot Chip again, only to reveal the opposite?
