I for one think last year's lineup was much better than this year's. Maybe that's because there were more artists I really enjoy (Jamie xx, Kendrick, War on Drugs, etc.), but at least this year has a headliner in LCD that's very likely to blow everyone away.

I think Griz and The Floozies are going to kill it as well... and The Chainsmokers will probably exceed expectations. But there's no doubt, we're missing an "EDM Headliner".
Agreed. This will be my 4th consecutive year, and the only thing I'm sure of about is that it beats 2015. I figure I'll have to go to find out if it beats out 2014/2013.
See, I can't go this far. 2013/2014 lineups were on a completely different level from 2015/2016. Those lineups competed directly with Coachella for the best American fest lineup of their respective years.
This is weird, but it actually maddens me that you think its comparable.

Did you see the video someone posted of the Chainsmokers show on reddit? Jesus christ that looked terrible.

When the lineup officially came out, I was pretty disappointed. To me if you match up acts from last year, it just doesn't add up in quality. I would take Kendrick over J. Cole all day. I would take Tears for Fears and EWF to fill that legends void. I would take Bassnectar over Chainsmokers and Flosstradumbass. Guster over Third Eye Blind. Florence over Ellie. D'Angelo over Miguel. Slayer over LOG. I would take an act like Royal Blood this year. When I went in 2014, I was impressed with the depth that Roo presented, especially when Lolla dropped the ball hardcore. I just find it hard to believe that in only two years, Roo has declined this much in exciting acts. Now that it's closer to June, I've actually come around to digging a strong majority of the lineup. I love discovery, and Roo has always been able to make that happen. For a year that has been rather weak in lineups, Roo does still have some surprises to offer that aren't playing a pleathora of fests this year-such as the coveted Tame Impala Late Night set, Andra Day, Grace Potter, Tyler the Creator, Claypool Lennon Delirium, Death Cab for Cutie, Ibeyi, Shamir, Arkells, etc. Then there's a rare performance from a legend in my mind and iconic figure Judd Apatow(Girls, 40 Yr Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get him to the Greek, so forth). There's no telling who might pop up during his set. Also, The Dead and Company closing out Roo's anniversary is quite special. Ween is playing everywhere either, and are playing longgggg sets full of deep cuts and such. I'm very excited for my second Roo, and I judged this lineup before I really dived in and now I can't wait to ride this wave of awesomeness.
Some of you don't realize how insanely popular the Chainsmokers are.
They're also completely terrible, just like pretty much all the other EDM on the lineup. The only exceptions would be Lane 8, and Bob Moses (if you consider a couple of dudes singing and playing live bass over some eletronic backing "EDM," which you shouldn't).
Bob Moses have a lot of dance-y tracks with electronic production, hence the EDM label.

Was it this one?
Looked like a pretty sweet light show to me. Personally, between Purity Ring, Bob Moses, and Tame Impala I doubt I'll make it over to The Chainsmokers' set anyway... just think that they probably won't be as tragically bad as people are making it seem.

Breathe, man. All I'm saying is that my feelings about both 2013 and 2014 changed dramatically after I actually experienced the festival. I may come out the other end being in agreement with you, but so much can be dependent on scheduling, sound bleed (see Bassnectar/D'Angelo 2015), set lists, special guests, and technical considerations (see Glass Animals, 2015), that I'm holding off for now.

Too each his own, I feel the light show in this is pattern-less. There's an art to light shows and they are by no way shape or means capable of it after seeing that video. I'm actually an advocate for Chainsmokers as I do like a couple of their jams, but now seeing that show has turned me off from them unfortunately.

Not in defense of the Chainsmokers, but they're using Coachella's production in the Sahara and not their own. What you're going to see at Roo will be much different.

I am aware of that, been in the Sahara a couple times, I was taking into account just Chainsmokers setup which is the stage setup they are pressing play on. The allure just isn't there for me.
I actually gave the RL Grime album a listen and enjoyed it. I like Cashmere Cat too.
Those two are some of my favorite electronic acts. Will be sad if I have to miss RL for another late night act, whoevers at that show is gonna get their faces melted by the trap.
