Unless they move to a 4 headliner format with Thursday (which for fucks sake they SHOULD), I dont see Kings of Leon as a pre-headliner.
I think they wouldn't technically be billed as a pre-headliner. I could see both Kings of Leon and The Weeknd playing hour and a half sets on What almost like co-headliners like Coachella has done in the past. Kings of Leon 8:30-10:00 then The Weeknd 11:00-12:30.
Should Chance the Rapper be a pre-headliner or LN Which? I'm thinking pre-headliner so there are not as many conflicts
While that's a good reason for him to pre-HL, the glory of a Chance LN Which set would feel more like the coronation his set deserves. Even a Which closing set would be better. It just feels wrong to have a headliner come after him on the same stage

True but the Which Stage is also garbage and most likely would be overcrowded. You also have an hour before the next headliner starts, and it's not like you HAVE to see RHCP or whoever.
what we'll get is chance on what before the weeknd.
Nah, we might get pre-HL What, but chance -> The Weeknd is not enough variety for a Roo What stage combo. Just the act of having two hip-hop/R&B in top 6 is out of character for Roo, though it isn't vary surprising with the changing festival target demographics. The varying in genres on stages (especially the main stages) is vital to managing the flow of attendees so that not as many people just camp out at one stage all day because: 1. That pisses of other festival-goers and 2. That does not promote food/merch sales.
I'm just saying, Chance -> RHCP should be the scenario that people are really worried about. Fingers crossed for the late night though. I'm sure it would end up being like his headlining set at Hulaween but with guests and maybe a little longer, which would definitely be a great show.
Weeknd is a pop act that got lucky when this poor sap gifted him the production for the three tracks that made him famous, and he's been on a downward spiral musically ever since House of Balloons. He would've been a great act to book in 2012, but now it's just a watered down excuse for not being able to book Drake.
If U2/RHCP/The Weeknd is the top three, man. Undercard better bring it for real, because that's weak.

Or a wildly popular, multi grammy award winning act, with several hits including the current #2 song in the country, a universally praised live production, and an album on the way guaranteed to sell like crazy.
Hope we can get something like Blues traveler, deep blue somethings, barenaked ladies, the mighty bosstones, the cranberries, or the counting crows. Would be cool to have a 90s act like one of those play. Sorry if any of those don't tour anymore and I said them. I know Blues traveler does cause they play near me this month. Would love if Live was still together. Would be amazing to see Ed sing with them again. Too bad Roo doesn't seem to book more than one of two nostalgic acts like any of them
I don't care about U2, but would likely watch a few songs.
RHCP is boring and their post-Frusciante output is mediocre. I would probably skip them for a good late night spot.
Depends heavily on the undercard, but U2/RHCP is certainly a step up from Billy Joel/Mumford and I went that year so...
No question this is an improvement in headliners over the last few years. As long as they don't drop the undercard ball, sales surely return to normal.

He's still a great act to book from a business stand point. He's an insanely popular act that's going to drive ticket sales for a festival that experienced it's worst year in god knows how long. Not disagreeing that artistically he may not be the artist he once was, but it's still a great booking.
