Younger people are definitely a lot more familiar with RHCP than PJ. Stadium Arcadium was huge and all of their singles have stuck around a lot longer than PJ's. Way more people my generation could sing along to "Under the Bridge," "Californication," "By the Way," etc. than "Alive," "Jeremy" and "Better Man"
It's just too bad that RHCP are half the live act that Pearl Jam are

You know, for all Roo's faults, they were the first festival to get Elton, Billy Joel, and now U2. We can debate the quality of those acts, but they were/are all unique gets at the time of booking, and that's pretty cool. Doesn't compete with Coachella's unique first headliners, but it's still cool.
Beastie Boys was the biggest "Get" Roo ever had in my time (09 on) IMO.

At the beginning of my local AHL teams games, they play a montage with Streets as the background music.

One Direction on that list is hilarious.
There will always be questionable taste. But spending hard earned money on something will always be the most prominent sign of approval.
