I've never been let down by Charles live. It would be nice to see Menahan Street Band in the SuperJam as a result of this addition.
How much of menahan is part of his extraordinaires?
Either way I'm pretty stoked for this add his new album is great.
I don't know how many tour with him. Menahan was the backing band on the first two albums. Maybe it is only a name change for live performances. I remember at SxSW, them being announced as Menahan Street Band and played a song before Charles came out. Check out their records too. They are really good. They are comprised of members of The Dap Kings, Budos Band, Antibalas, The Expressions and more. Basically, an all-star band assembled by Daptone to elevate the Screaming Eagle Of Soul.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Yeah I like them a lot, but thought they were just the studio guys. I'd love to have antibalas and budos horns for the SJ.

I was fairly positive you did but I still went off on a tangent because I just love talking about Daptone.
Charles Bradley is about the most fitting replacement for Mavis. Would have preferred her because I'm seeing CB at Boston Calling, but I'll happily see him again if scheduling works out.
Also for some reason Roar, Stokeswood, and Walden aren't on the By Day lineup yet
I would liked to have seen Sharon Jones instead of Charles Bradley, but I will agree he is a good replacement.
I've ran through a couple songs from each Saturday café add. I'm desperately searching for options in case we are faced with a 4-5 hour midday stretch of garbage (very plausible).
A few bands that I think I'll give a shot based off of limited listening:
Amasa Hines: really enjoy the AudioTree videos. This kinda feels like Banjamin Booker or Con Brio in the sense that I can tell I'd have a great time live, but prob won't seek it out while at home. With what we are dealing with on Sat, this is wonderful.
Any of you guys familiar with these particular bands?
I've known most of the guys in Amasa Hines for five years or so. They're based in Little Rock, AR and I grew up about half an hour from there. Their Facebook has some good info on their influences: Amasa Hines
Surprised by the Charles Bradley add. He's really good, his shows are a lot of fun, old school and very dancey, watch this if you aren't already familiar with him.
Also, said Grandma Sparrow is possibly the weirdest act he's ever seen. Let that sink in.
COUNT ME OUT THEN.
(But actually, I'm also quite intrigued now....)
This is what I saw.
It's not bad by any means, just shocking. If you show up, you can't leave. It's a gigantic train wreck filled with costume changes. There's a story in there, too. I'll be damned if I could figure it out though.

So we got club acts today... Flux Capacitor seems outta place there, feel like they're a tent act. Very glad that they added The Record Company, their album is great and I think it will translate very well to a live setting. They've been staying and touring on the west coast so it'll be nice to get a chance to see them over in these parts.
Seeing Charles Bradley at the beacon theater in NYC on the 23rd, I can't wait. As my girlfriend has pointed out many times, sometimes she thinks I'm a 34 year old white dude with a 70 year old black man stuck inside... Can't get enough soul and old school R&B...
Some nice adds from the club stage (at least for me) Firekid, Flux, Public Access TV, Swim Deep.
Last years club acts had 2 acts really blow up with Elle King and X Ambassadors. Both of them had some good traction going into Roo. not sure i see any band from this list doing that this year.

This needs to be at like 12AM on the Miller Light Stage or something.

Menahan hasn't toured with Charles for a few years now, but his band is still funky as shit! One thing about the Daptone guys though is that you just nevvvvvvver know who is gonna show up with who -- those guys are everywhere!
Hadn't heard of Charles Bradley before the add and I'm just starting to give him a listen. From the first few songs definitely getting a good feeling. Great add.

Yep, I'm with you on that. I had never heard of him before but I'm really enjoying his music. I got some friends who love soul music. I'll definitely be passing this on to them!

I just noticed Pete Davidson on the lineup, was he always there? Did he get added with the other additions and I just missed it?
Edit: oh they added the comedy lineup a couple hours ago...don't mind me
I want to say he was already on the lineup though, because I remember looking him up sometime in the last week or so to see who he was and thinking "oh yeah, I know him from SNL". So unless I'm slightly psychic, Pete was already on the lineup.

not sure if he was on the lineup before, but he did announce via his website that he would be at Bonnaroo. This was shortly after Bonnaroo announced the café acts.
