I dig the initial list of artists, but I don't really get the theme.
Not much more info but they'll pay tribute to legends from the area.
We've been proud to call Tennessee home for the past 15 years and couldn't think of a better way to celebrate this milestone anniversary than with a SuperJam dedicated to the legendary music from our beloved state.
Driven by saxophone great Kamasi Washington as musical director, SuperJam collaborators and co-conspirators include: Miguel, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats, Blood Orange, Lettuce, Vulfpeck, The Internet, Chicano Batman, Lizzo, and plenty of surprises.
“I’m so excited and honored to lead this year’s SuperJam," said Kamasi Washington. "Such a cool experience to collaborate with all of these amazing artists in celebration of some of the greatest music legends from Tennessee, at one of the coolest festivals in the country!"
soooo many horns. I'm very excited and really like this lineup, Kamasi and krasno are gonna be great, vulfpeck will be a tight base. Hoping griz is there mostly for live contribution rather than production stuff. But this is definitely more exciting than last year. Plus I'm a stax geek.
I love the lineup. Not so sure about the tribute to Tennessee part. But sounds like this one could be a lot of fun. I'm also a sucker for a good horn section, so yeah I'm excited.
Yeah. The first thing that comes to mind when I see the theme is Good Old Rocky Top and the lineup doesn't fit.
I think Kamasi leading the Superjam is a good move. Not exactly star-studded, but it might actually be a quality session.
The Bluegrass Situation Superjam is also posted. Less of a "reveal," but worth mentioning:
Amanda Shires is going to kill it on fiddle.
Absolutely, and Secret Sisters on vocals is going to be amazing. Buddy Miller on guitar is always a plus. But the thing to watch out for is the Watkins Family Hour house band. Right now, they're only showing Sara and Sean, but WFH also regularly includes Fionna Apple and Benmont Tench. Either of those two would be huge.

I'm kind of bummed I'll have to miss it for Dead and Company.

I hate admitting this because I didn't ever believe the rumors, but the odds just went up significantly on a Timberlake appearance. Not that I don't like Timberlake, I just hate being wrong.
Not sure why a lot of you guys are so down on this. It could use one or two bigger names, but Kamasi, Miguel, Rateliff, Krasno, Vulfpeck, and Lizzo have more than whet my appetite. I'll probably be at Pearl Jam until they're done, but then it's right over to this for me.
The more Stax tributes the better. I just want to hear some Otis, and Sam and Dave, and Booker T. Some Sun Records stuff would also be much appreciated
Potential guests from the Roo lineup: Grace Potter Chris Stapleton (+Justin Timberlake?) Bully (a little out of place, but they're from Nashville, so maybe?) Anderson East any member of Pearl Jam (not sure how they'd fit the theme, but it seems like something Eddie might be into) any member of Dead & Co. Rosanne Cash Dan Auerbach Miley Cyrus
