Tennessee could really be the theme for both SJ. Kamasi and co doing stax/soul/blues and Ed Helms covering sun, Nashville country, and East TN bluegrass (rocky top et. al)
Not sure why a lot of you guys are so down on this. It could use one or two bigger names, but Kamasi, Miguel, Rateliff, Krasno, Vulfpeck, and Lizzo have more than whet my appetite. I'll probably be at Pearl Jam until they're done, but then it's right over to this for me.
The more Stax tributes the better. I just want to hear some Otis, and Sam and Dave, and Booker T. Some Sun Records stuff would also be much appreciated
Potential guests from the Roo lineup: Grace Potter Chris Stapleton (+Justin Timberlake?) Bully (a little out of place, but they're from Nashville, so maybe?) Anderson East any member of Pearl Jam (not sure how they'd fit the theme, but it seems like something Eddie might be into) any member of Dead & Co. Rosanne Cash Dan Auerbach Miley Cyrus

I think PJ may still be playing during a good portion of the SJ.
Seeing what the Superjam is, I am hoping for a 4+ hour PJ set.
Or a super secret Which stage Temple if the Dog reunion. Chris Cornell has a Roo sized hole in his schedule. It is Pearl Jam's 25th anniversary. They play Saturday night. Which stage is currently dark......

Also, if you liked the Rock n' Soul Dance Party with Jim James, how would you think this wouldn't be appealing, also? Seems like a superjam cut from the same cloth, really.
Absolutely, and Secret Sisters on vocals is going to be amazing. Buddy Miller on guitar is always a plus. But the thing to watch out for is the Watkins Family Hour house band. Right now, they're only showing Sara and Sean, but WFH also regularly includes Fionna Apple and Benmont Tench. Either of those two would be huge.
I'm kind of bummed I'll have to miss it for Dead and Company.
Dead is playing two sets, you could miss half and still not miss too much. That is my plan at least. I learned last year, never miss the Bluegrass Superjam.

I've yet to see a Bluegrass Superjam. It's not that I'm not interested, there is just typically a lot more I'm interested in going on in that closing Sunday spot in the tents and Which before the headliner. I'm not missing the start of The Dead, girl!

Definitely. I'm a bit jealous of missing this one.

hahahahah well save me a spot because me, Jeremy and my 1989 Space Your Face shirt will be joining you after the superjam.

I did the whole day at the Bluegrass Sitch tent in 2014. That superjam was fantastic. I still listen to Sarah Jarosz's cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" fairly regularly. Didn't see any of last year's superjam, and probably won't do this one because I, too, am not missing the start of the Dead.
I'm thinking Superjam gets pushed back. If not Miguel is gonna miss the first hour of it
It could be like how R Kelly showed up to do A Change Is Gonna Come at the Rock N Soul SuperJam late, after his set was over. Billy Idol did the same and stopped by to do Bang A Gong.

yeah, 2014 was really the only year I got to watch a lot of the bluegrass SJ. 2013 was David Byrne/St. Vincent and last year was Caribou. this year is Dead and co. I love the bluegrass tent lineup all day sunday but there's too much other stuff I want to see. Usually Sam Bush is a can't miss for me.

I could definitely be happy spending all day there, but yeah, there is a lot going on normally. I dropped in for Hurray For The Riff Raff last year and will catch some of Sam Bush after Lettuce this time. I might swing by for a song or two from Wood Brothers before Kurt Vile also.
Yea I'm not understanding all the hate. Maybe it's the lack of famous musicians? Honestly, There could have been bigger names, but a lot of the time those bigger names don't mean better players and these players are phenomenal!
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
