I have to miss Saturday for a wedding, so this looks perfect for me. I was "debating" coming back Sunday depending on who's playing, but knowing it would be The Dead, I basically already made up my mind that I'd be coming back. It's my cousin's wedding, though, so I haven't told my family yet. I guess I should do that today so I can go ahead and book my plane tickets.
This will be a crazy weekend schedule for me- I'm leaving super early Saturday to catch a flight out of Nashville to Pittsburgh (losing an hour), where I'm renting a car and driving north to Erie, PA. I'm changing quickly, then heading northeast along I-90 until I get to the vineyard where my cousin is having her wedding. I only have a save-the-date so far, not an invitation, so I only know that it's a vineyard near the "town" of North East, PA, which means anywhere from the edge of Erie all the way along I-90 to the NY state line. I'll then have to be back in Pittsburgh for a ~6 AM (eastern) flight, putting me in Nashville before noon local time. I'll be back on the Farm by about 1 PM on Sunday! Woooo!!
You may want to price out Buffalo as well. It's a bit closer and you may be able to get some deals.
Music Midtown: 2011 Bonnaroo: 2012 - 2016 Forecastle: 2013 Rock al Parque: 2014 420 Fest: 2014-2018 Shaky Knees: 2015 - 2019, 2021 Seen tons of local shows since 2004.
Some people are knocking this year's Thursday offerings, but I'm excited about them. Between Twin Peaks, Bully, Vulfpeck, The London Souls, Borns, Cashmere Cat, Con Brio and The Floozies, I'm going to have some tough decisions to make. I write that knowing I still need to check out some of the other listed acts, too. To each his/her own, I guess. ...

I'm a big fan of Thursday as well. Add Marian Hill and Hundred Waters to your artists to check out.
When the schedule came out in January, I thought it looked like one giant turd. Now that it is broken out by day, it looks like three days of diarrhea (Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) and one day full of conflicts (Friday) that will give me a heart attack...
Jesus this day by day schedule just proved how bad this lineup was. I'd been psyching myself out saying the lineup wasn't that bad but my god. Saturday and Sunday are horrendous.
Looking at the "By Day" schedule, the number of artists by day that I am currently interested in seeing* are:
Thursday - 1 Friday - 5 Saturday - 12 Sunday - 12
* Note: I have done no significant digging into the schedule because A) I'm not 100% committed to going and don't want to make myself sad and B) I don't tend to check out new acts until the schedule comes out and I am filling in holes from who I already want to see (not wanting to create new conflicts)

Saturday - agreed. Sunday - not sure what the expectation with the lineup should have been?
Saturday is also the pop dumping ground ELLIE GOULDING •MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS •HAIM •MIGUEL •CHRIS STAPLETON and the •BIG GRAMS show - which surprises me less than I expected
Thursday is much more dope than people know •GOLDLINK •CASHMERE CAT •VULFPECK •WAXAHATCHEE •BULLY •THE LONDON SOULS •LOLAWOLF •CON BRIO
Overall for me: Thurs (8) Fri (15) <---THIS IS CONFLICT CITY Sat (9-10; Superjam) Sun (7)
Which to me, means some room for a more electro/dance party Sat. LN - A better Sunday with less of me running around for last minute hip hop shows at the Other Tent (finally). Thursday will be funky and fun. Friday will hurt, because it's too awesome and there's no way I'm not going to lose something in the mash of people moving.
So this lineup is really bad - even worse when it's broken down. Way to blow your load on the second day, Bonnaroo.
Thur - 1 Fri - 10 Sat - 2 Sun - 1
Why so much hate for Thursday? I feel ya on the rest - because of some of your previous tastes in music but is it just for lack of bigger name acts?
That's what it is for me. The lineup this year has left me less inspired to dive into it, so I haven't really listened to much new stuff. Excited for Vulpeck though.

You should check out Marian Hill, she seems right up your alley.

If you're up for Vulfpeck at least check out Con Brio, GianArthur and the Floozies

I caught all of that night's acts I'm into and for the most part I wouldn't go out of my way to see any of them again. I remember a certain electricity generated from Thursday night performers - an almost competitive energy to break - and I don't really get that from any of this. Meanwhile there are plenty of worthy, buzz bands left unbooked who could have absolutely crushed it given the opportunity.
I am worried for Friday's conflicts and I'm not even going. It's what I had feared. Schedule all of the quality shit at once and then be forced to settle. All that's left is donuts, heat, and a long wait for Pearl Jam/Dead.
The only good choice they made on this day by day was giving Cashmere Cat a later set on Thursday instead of an afternoon set on Friday. Hope everyone has fun choosing between tent sets of Purity Ring, Tyler the Creator and Kamasi while Chainsmokers are on the Which Friday LN.
Sunday might be the worst day of a festival I've seen in years, and Saturday isn't far behind.
The only way this festival is worth it this year is to buy a one day Thursday pass and just not leave Centeroo.
Why is everyone hating on Sunday? Saturday looks much worse to me, at least Sunday has Dead & Co, Ween, FJM, Cymande, and Kurt Vile. Plus there's other well-regarded acts like Death Cab, Lettuce, and Jason Isbell, among others.

The only atrocious day is Saturday. Seems like they purposely made each day different to sell more single day tickets. Anyone who likes good music (also all the indie with a girl singing over electronic stuff) will buy Friday, anyone who wants complete radio bullshit will be all over saturday.
Sunday has a theme to it that I'm not sure anyone would buy a single day for, but I like it. Dead, Death, FJM, Kurt Vile, Cymande, Lettuce, Ween, Sam Bush, Superjam, Isbell, Wood Brothers
