wait, so it's hilarious when kanye continually treats a grown woman like human garbage, but it's misogynistic to acknowledge when we think someone is attractive? come on.
I would hardly say Taylor Swift was a grown woman at the time.
I still don't get how it is related to hatred of men or women.
Perhaps it would be better stated as "The gender-neutral thread dedicated to the shallow evaluation of individuals."
Feel free to start a most beautiful soul at bonnaroo thread if you are so offended by people appreciating (not ogling or demeaning people based on) human beauty.

Or we could talk about the music they make. These people aren't going on tour so they can judge the inner and outer beauty of the goons they perform for every night, so why should the inverse be true?

If only someone would start a thread about discussing new music in 2016 or how satisfied we are with the lineup.
Don't be a bigot. I'm using that word correctly, right? No wait I meant don't be coy.
Do you even know what being a bigot means?
It's unfortunate that your humor isn't coherent. Try again.
I didn't call you a bigot. I was making fun of your tenuous grasp of the English language and how because of it you accused people here of being hateful towards half the population of the world for thinking someone was pretty

to be fair this is pretty much the only thread anyone is posting in at the moment so we all have to be here and throw our two cents in even if we don't know what the fuck we are talking about.
How many times does this conversation occur in this thread each year? Over/under?
It's almost like people have sincere opinions on the matter. I think most of the people posting in here have their hearts in the right place, but when 90% of the shows I go to featuring a band with "a hottie" in them involve that person getting catcalled at some point in the show, I'm just uncomfortable with the whole enterprise.
I have a sincere opinion on the matter. I'm just asking a question. No need to assume I have an agenda behind asking it.
I think the vast majority of the posts were in no way offensive. Now, if the thread was geared in a more disrespectful direction (as your video exemplified) then we might have a problem.
If you can't handle my opinion and need to deflect your own insecurities with Ad Hominem attacks against me instead of addressing the point, that's your prerogative as well.

Try looking at it from the other side. I'm friends with one of the "hotties" who performed in 2013. She fucking hates the attention. She's classically trained and spent her whole life getting to the point where she could do music full time, touring with small bands and with solo material until finally "making it" and getting hired by a band big enough to pay the bills. She's not Katie Perry or someone like that whose sexuality is integral to her performance. She's just an attractive woman who wants to be a professional musician. Now when she tours with the band she just hides on the tour bus after the show because too many men view the show as "their chance" to try to get with her.
Pops and I were watching Flock of Dimes open for El Vy a few months ago, doing a perfectly nice set, and some asshole decided he needed to scream that she was beautiful between songs. You could tell how unsettling it was for her, not flattering or anything postive.
So ya. It's not the case that commenting on a performers looks is per se offensive, but even when people think they're commenting on people's looks "the right way," I think of this shit and I feel bad for the artists in questions.
We gotta stop with these guy pics. I thought this was the thread for us dudes to creep (oh ah, oh ah, oh ah yeah)
Nothing untoward going on in here. No way.
Because Im sure he's at home whackin his pud lookin at this thread? Because If I was gonna get off on pics of famous people, Inforoo would be my go to place for material? Im sure he/she was being completely literal and not joking. One shitty lineup and this place becomes soft.

But I wasnt what? Of all the threads to pick apart and get literal on, this is the one you chose? You mean to tell me you have never been physically attracted to a person?

I mean to tell you that when I tell a story about a friend of mine who's worked her whole life to be a professional musician only to find that when she finally made it she had to deal with constant unwanted sexual attention, and you respond that America's being pussified, I don't like it. It's shitty you think that she should just toughen up and be okay with the fact she's the sexual object of strangers by virtue of the fact she wants to be a musician.
If you want defend a shallow yearly tradition where this board reduces Bonnaroo's artists to physical items, feel free.
I said it was shallow without defending that. However you said it was hateful. There's a disconnect there you don't seem to grasp. I agree catcalling and general lewdness are totally out of place in nearly every concert setting (some obviously are designed towards the other direction). But there's quite a few other threads that are far more disrespectful to the artists playing this year than the one saying someone has pretty eyes.

Hey, I totally get where you're coming from. As an artist, you're not looking for this to define your art.
That's why we have a number of other threads to talk about the quality of these artists.
I just think that you don't need to excuse yourself for appreciating someone's beauty. And I'm certainly not going to excuse myself here. Now, if I'm talking to someone, attempting a legitimate conversation, the last thing I'm going to lead with is "My god, you're a hottie." 1.) It's the worst pick up line I've ever heard. 2.) My girlfriend is nice. I would like to keep her. This would ensure I don't. 3.) If I'm attempting to connect with someone in real life I really don't care what they look like.
But we, as humans, understand and appreciate beauty when we see it. You're an educated man. You know that this happens all of the time in the arts. It's what some of our great art is based upon.
We're not trying to demean artists in this thread. We discuss most of these artists in length on this forum. I think we can have a light-hearted thread in here as long as everyone can be respectful, which the majority of people are doing.

Yea that was totally not my point and maybe where the post fell in the thread you think that was a response to you. As someone who has been the victim plenty of times of unwanted advances, its not a good feeling. No one is reaching out to Grace Potter right not and verbalizing to her how attractive someone thinks she is. I dont see the harm in finding someone physically attractive and saying hey I think this person is attractive. We do it subconsciously on a daily basis. If you think I was directing the "pussified" comment at you or your friend, my apologies but I stand by my statement that if we cant handle saying that someone is physically attractive in a photo, we are becoming soft.
