Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
If you want defend a shallow yearly tradition where this board reduces Bonnaroo's artists to physical items, feel free.
I said it was shallow without defending that. However you said it was hateful. There's a disconnect there you don't seem to grasp. I agree catcalling and general lewdness are totally out of place in nearly every concert setting (some obviously are designed towards the other direction). But there's quite a few other threads that are far more disrespectful to the artists playing this year than the one saying someone has pretty eyes.
I quickly acknowledged my misunderstanding when Maynar called me out. Not sure why you are choosing to dwell on it.

but then you decided to go with demeaning instead of misogynistic which is still the wrong word and still accusatory. I hadn't even participated in this thread but I don't see why these people should be vilified because you are somehow morally opposed to physical beauty
I have a sincere opinion on the matter. I'm just asking a question. No need to assume I have an agenda behind asking it.
I think the vast majority of the posts were in no way offensive. Now, if the thread was geared in a more disrespectful direction (as your video exemplified) then we might have a problem.
Try looking at it from the other side. I'm friends with one of the "hotties" who performed in 2013. She fucking hates the attention. She's classically trained and spent her whole life getting to the point where she could do music full time, touring with small bands and with solo material until finally "making it" and getting hired by a band big enough to pay the bills. She's not Katie Perry or someone like that whose sexuality is integral to her performance. She's just an attractive woman who wants to be a professional musician. Now when she tours with the band she just hides on the tour bus after the show because too many men view the show as "their chance" to try to get with her.
Pops and I were watching Flock of Dimes open for El Vy a few months ago, doing a perfectly nice set, and some asshole decided he needed to scream that she was beautiful between songs. You could tell how unsettling it was for her, not flattering or anything postive.
So ya. It's not the case that commenting on a performers looks is per se offensive, but even when people think they're commenting on people's looks "the right way," I think of this shit and I feel bad for the artists in questions.
How about we give a big hand to all those that tried so hard to get this thread back on track, and accept that, while sexism and mysogyny are major issues in this world that need to be taken seriously, it is possible to appreciate someone's physical attractiveness without making any negative connotations about their gender or self worth. Everyone's hearts are in the right place, so let's just move on with sexy Grace Potter. Man, I love her.
I mean to tell you that when I tell a story about a friend of mine who's worked her whole life to be a professional musician only to find that when she finally made it she had to deal with constant unwanted sexual attention, and you respond that America's being pussified, I don't like it. It's shitty you think that she should just toughen up and be okay with the fact she's the sexual object of strangers by virtue of the fact she wants to be a musician.
Yea that was totally not my point and maybe where the post fell in the thread you think that was a response to you. As someone who has been the victim plenty of times of unwanted advances, its not a good feeling. No one is reaching out to Grace Potter right not and verbalizing to her how attractive someone thinks she is. I dont see the harm in finding someone physically attractive and saying hey I think this person is attractive. We do it subconsciously on a daily basis. If you think I was directing the "pussified" comment at you or your friend, my apologies but I stand by my statement that if we cant handle saying that someone is physically attractive in a photo, we are becoming soft.

Shit, at least the artists have a barrier between them and the crowd. There will be thousands of drunks girls cat called and worse in the crowds and campgrounds over the weekend.
This thread doesn't offend me, but I'm always surprised by it. Maybe its because I attend the second largest university in the country and see hundreds of attractive people a day, but the fact that there will be a decent amount of 7-8/10s performing at Bonnaroo does not peak my interest in the least.
This. Reminds me of when I'm out with friends and a good looking girl walks by and they look to me, "dayyum dude did you see how hot she was?" I'm always befuddled... "Yes, man, have you ever seen a good looking person before? How much energy do you spend per week if you have that same drawn out reaction to every hot girl you see."
People are going to comment on the attractive people playing Bonnaroo somewhere somehow. Makes sense IMO to have it contained in a thread. One in which you don't have to enter and read if it bothers or bores you. I don't really know what the issue is
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

figured this would be the response. I suppose im ok with this accusation
Thanks for noticing, but I haven't seen Pearl Jam in over two years. I get to see them in April so I'll be posting pictures of Eddie probably until then.
