Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Thought it would be interesting to look at the numbers for the regulars around here. Feel free to post reasons for your answers.
I was literally about to make this thread.
edit: and I am attending. this is the least excited I have ever been for the undercard, but I am really excited about DeadCo, PJ, and LCD. Plus with a 3 year old and my folks still living in TN, bonnaroo is logistically the easiest fest for the wife and I to attend together.
Millenial problems: none of my local friends exist at a level of responsibility that would let me give them care of my child for more than a few hours.
I'm going because A) I missed last year and was sad about it; this will be my first year going where I have inforoo frands B) LCD Pit C) I actually like a good amount of the undercard D) Not too far of a drive away for me
Those are the 4 main reasons that come to mind for me.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I really wanted to go this year, but after seeing the lineup and rumored artists for festivals closer to me I'm not going this year. I was really looking for any excuse to go as my friends I've been going to the last two with will both be moving out west next year, and it doesn't seem like they'll be able to make it back for a little bit, so we wanted to have one last hurrah. Unfortunately, there wasn't any hurrah over this lineup, so unless we can all get tickets for Lolla, it doesn't look like we'll be going to the same festival for a long time, which kinda sucks. We probably would've tried to make this lineup work if they even added one decently big name we all could get behind, but then they gave us the chainsmokers. At least we'll be saving money for a hopeful Coachella get together in the future I suppose.

I'm going. I'm very excited about all three headliners. Yes, the undercard is lacking but their is still some great gems, at least for me. Vulfpeck, Kamasai, Cymande, Papadosio, Tame Impala. Plenty to keep me busy. Also, this lineup has a lot of artists that I've never seen before which is a big plus for me

not going this year after 4 straight. i am more of an "edm" person and have a gf this year that is much more into that than roo. excited to check out a new festival and what is supposed an awesome setting. have fun everybody....that is still going
edit: i will miss bonnaroo though, will be watching what i can on live stream
This will be my 10th in a row and my girlfriend's third. With this lineup it would've been the first year I would have been okay with missin', but she was excited 'bout some of these names I've never even heard of. And I kinda wanna use up my street team points (should be just enough fer two tickets) since I get the feelin' it won't be around much longer.

I'm missing this year due to the lineup. It's quite spendy for two people to travel to this fest from CA and I've already seen everyone that strikes my fancy on the lineup.

I am there
A) Pearl JAM!!!! B) I like a lot of the other artists C) Roo is always an awesome time D) My buddy works in radio and hooks me up w/ a bunch of extra's
Going. #6. Not super crazy about lineup, but I haven't really dove into it yet either. There is always a variety. My BF and I don't like the same music, but we are both happy on the farm. My parents also live in TN and my kids get to spend 5 days with the grandparents. I love just being at Roo and meeting other people there. Also camping. I just can't imagine doing a fest where you have to get a hotel and commute in and out every day, what a hassle.

This will be my 11th, and I'll be traveling down/meeting up with a group of 12-15 people from other parts of the country and camping in VIP. Sadly, this may be my last one, too. My wife hasn't gone with me since 2011, and I think she'd like to do something more in line with Hangout, where she can sleep in an air-conditioned condo and hang out at the beach as well as check out live music. ...
I am in, I have a group of about 14 (7 couples) that go every year regardless of lineup. They are all very excited about the lineup. I like 2 of 3 headliners and there are undercard acts that I am happy to see.
It's up in the air for me. I've been to the last twelve and I'm usually a "the lineup doesn't matter guy" but this line up is very underwhelming for me. I've also been unemployed for a couple of months and the longer this goes on, the harder it will be for me to justify going.
On the flip-side, I introduced my brother-in-law to Bonnaroo last year and he's super excited about going back and loves the line up. My wife's uncle and cousin also are leaning towards going. After a dozen years being a really vocal advocate for the festival, it would gut me not to go.

I'm going because I bought presale and convinced a few new friends to go before seeing the lineup. Thought 2015 was the worst possible lineup for Roo. Headliners had me thinking this was a bounce back.
My wife and I are going. This will be our 6th in a row and possibly the last (babies will start coming next year probably). We will be driving in each day from Nashville. I have found a lot on this lineup that I love after some initial research. See y'all on the farm!
2017: 2/24 Twenty One Pilots 4/1 Radiohead 6/7 Glass Animals 9/10 Modest Mouse 9/21 Arcade Fire 9/29 Kings of Leon 10/3 Foster the People 10/17 The xx 10/22 LCD Soundsystem 11/8 Bon Iver
Right now I'm leaning no. The lack of interesting undercard and strong legacy acts really isn't doing it for me. And I can't justify going for the vibez with the price hike and the shorter sets/later start times that will probably continue from last year. I've never been to Lolla (despite only living a couple hours from Chicago) and this year's lineup is gearing up to be pretty stellar. I may opt for that fest or 2 smaller ones like Pitchfork and Rock on the Range. If Roo's schedule drops and I have pretty much NO conflicts, I may cave. But it's not looking good now.

They almost got me again! I did this for 2015 and man what a sad trombone that line up drop turned out to be! Minus King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard because they are now one of my most favorite bands on this planet.
I really don't think this lineup is as big of a suckfest as people are making it out to be. I'm not a PJ fan but they're suppose to be amazing live. I think Dead and Co. will be fun. I don't know much about LCD but I'd be willing to check them out to. The under card is pretty underwhelming for me with the exception of The Claypool Lennon Delirium that add has me truly on the fence. I LOVE that song they released, right up my alley! But the undercard is not strong enough to pull me in. This is going to be my first roo in which the cost of going will factor in with the quality of the line up. Right now I want to go, but I'm not so quick to pull the trigger yet.

Any reason you feel that way about street team or just speculating?
I plan on using a lot of my points this year on tickets as well, but I just found out I may not be able to go this year because of my new job's absurd vacation policy. If so, they will break a 6 year streak for us.
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon

I'm going because:
1. Love all the headliners 2. Easy seven hour drive 3. I've gone to Roo alone since 2012 and I really look forward to that solitude-in-a-crowd-of-people feeling 4. Ween 5. And there are actually lots of undercard acts that I dig and I think will be fun
For me what Roo is lacking this year is any act at all that makes it stand out. LCD is everywhere, Dead & Co. is touring all over, Pearl Jam is touring all over. I think 100% of the undercard is playing other festivals, not a single super unique act.
But its still a place where I can see all those acts in one weekend, and I'm still really looking forward to Bonnaroo this year. A well done schedule would significantly increase my excitement, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The cost for tix for dead, PJ, LCD,and ween (all shows id really wanna catch this summer if i didnt roo) would cost about what a roo ticket would be, without the hassle of travelling to 4 different shows, or so I'm justifying the value to myself. Going through the undercard there's enough to make some lemonade outta these lemons.

I'm with Dan'ROO on this one: it will be #7 in a row for me but I might have skipped it based on the lineup and saved my street team points for 2017. However, due to Bonnaroo's new Ambassador program, and wording stating that the street team wouldn't be going away "in the immediate future," or something fishy like that, I don't trust it to be around after this year. Gotta use the vacation time somehow too, and I always end up having fun anyway. So if the lineup is similar next year and the street team does in fact end, there's little chance of me going back.
I'd kind of like to hit up another festival instead, but friends are only going to Roo. Forecastle looks decent but I'm not too keen on having to stay off-site. Nelsonville is a possibility regardless of whether or not I go to Roo because it is relatively close and cheap, and an easy to manage experience. But the only other festivals I'm really interested in for 2016 are just too far away or don't offer on-site camping, like New Orleans Jazz Fest. So I'll deal with the crumby Roo lineup and just enjoy the company and being on the farm one more time.
I should clarify, I don't think that the lineup is bad. It just doesn't feel like it offers much special. A lot of the undercard acts that I'm interested in are very early in their careers with maybe an album or two and seem to play local radio station festivals. There isn't much in the way of 'Holy shit, I've got to text everyone I know and post about it on Facebook and Twitter!' for me this year, I guess.

Now that you say it that way, I have to agree. I've been bashing the lineup because it is almost entirely devoid of truly big names at the top, and there are few mid-card acts I'm really dying to see. That said, there are a lot of really good bands that have growing followings and are worth seeing. It just isn't what some of us hoped for (by a long shot), and seems a lot weaker than in most previous years, even with the price increase.
It isn't just the headliners. Where are the veteran non-headliners like we've seen, like The Beach Boys, Lionel, Buffalo Springfield, Robert Plant, The Black Keys, The Flaming Lips, Wu-Tang, ZZ-Top, Lil Wayne, MMJ, or any legit hip-hop? 2016 isn't terrible but it's like the B team.
Edit: And my coworkers aren't nearly as annoyed at me for constantly blathering on about "that singing thing" as they usually are at this time of year. That's telling.
I'm going because I actually like the lineup, both the headliners and undercard. Hell, I've only seen three acts on it (Tame Impala, London Souls, Allen Stone). I think it's an improvement over last years.
