With my fourth selection I take Spooner Oldham, Muscel Shoals session player and Swamper. Best known for organ and electric piano work on some of the greatest soul songs ever. In the 60s he played with Etta James, Aretha, Pickett, Sam and Dave, and many others. Spooner's playing is very rarely at the forefront of a song like Booker T, he preferred a more subtle sound that made the rest of the players and singer sound better. In later days he has played with artists like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, the DBTS, and more. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a sideman.
I will select Bobby Keys. The Sax player on pretty much all the stones' tunes, most notably my favorite Exile on Main St. He played on Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen. He played sax for George Harrison, BB King, the Faces, Eric Clapton, Skynyrd, Dr. John, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye. Seriously he played sax for 50 years with some of the biggest names in rock n roll.
here's keith richards' tribute to him in Rolling Stone
On Bass and backing vocals, I choose a woman who is full of a soulful funkyness that is incredible, and she is one of the most talented musicians I can think of.

On Piano, vocals and backup vocals I'll take Fiona Apple. She and Robert will both have turns in the front and back vocals. There will also be some duets of course.
I'm about to go to bed but it's about to be my turn. Anyone gonna be around here today that wants to make my pick for me so I don't hold up the game forever?

I pick the amazing Kim Deal (from Pixies and Breeders) to slap-a-da-bass in my band.
Vocals: David Byrne Guitar: Tom Verlaine Bass: Kim Deal Drums: Keys: Andrew Farriss Misc.:
The initial vision of my Jonny Greenwood/Robert Smith band had Kim Deal on bass.
Mine was really a toss up between Peter Hook and Kim. Peter would've been great because genre-wise, he fits perfect with all the others but I love Kim and think her style could really give the band a little heavier edge to combat the poppiness of Andrew Farriss, but still be able to work well together.
