Band Leader/Main Writer/Backup Everything: Trent Reznor Main Vocals: Serj Tankian Guitar: Prince Guitar: Dimebag Darrel Bass: Jack Bruce Drums: Danny Carey
I'm adding Friendship aka William Lombardelli on Trombone, beatboxing, mixing, and looping. Here are a couple videos of him along with his partner in crime Stoobacca Dashkiki ask Lee Neckritz. Yes I know I am adding a full band - "The Hornitz". In a few hours when I return to CPU I'll post how it all falls together.
Pay the singing no mind on the this one, Friendship will only be doing beat boxing, no actual vocals

are you just looking for a more exciting piano/keyboard player than Billy Joel?
in all honesty i think my band would sound good without keys all together, so could i go with a five piece?
Well the primary goal was to build a 6 piece band. Maybe just ponder it for a bit. If you haven't thought of something tomorrow, and it hasn't started "well if would have known I could short myself a pick....." conversations. Then we can probably let it slide.
(Myoclonus - a brief, involuntary twitching of a muscle or a group of muscles. They may occur alone or in sequence, in a pattern or without pattern. This happens when a person is on the verge of falling asleep, and suddenly have a sensation or feeling that they are free falling through the air. The twitching cannot be controlled by the person experiencing it. Myoclonic jerks are associated with a rapid heartbeat, quickened breathing, sweat, and sometimes "a peculiar sensory feeling of 'shock' or 'falling into the void."")
featuring...
Thom Yorke!
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke's haunting vocals, avant-garde creative processes, and hypnotic melodies will play a major role in Myoclonic Jerk's overall sound. He will also contribute to the band's songwriting and production, because the man knows how to create some unique fucking sounds. Expect a major Kid A-era influence to come from him - but don't forget that he can rock out as well.
Samples:
You can almost a imagine a certain bassist on that last song...someone like...
Les Claypool!
This fuckin' guy. Just look at that hat. Best known for his work with Primus and currently working with Sean Lennon as The Claypool Lennon Delirium, Les Claypool is one of the premier bassists of our generation. While Thom is wailing away on the microphone, Les will be slappin' away soul-shattering riffs with the ferocity of a demon on PCP. Knowing when to TURN IT THE FUCK UP and when to cool it down will be key in establishing the dynamic of many of Myoclonic Jerk's songs. Expect a lot of back-and-forthing with some sick guitar riffs here.
Samples:
Speaking of Rush, let's get a drummer in here! Someone like...
Neil Peart!
Known for his incredible stamina and hard-hitting work with Rush, drummer Neil Peart will be providing percussion for the band. Expect him to make extended use of the the electronic portion of his trademark acoustic/electronic combo kit; this will be necessary to create a sound that is at the same time ethereal, earthy, and electric.
Sample:
(from 2:16-3:45)
Now when things really get going, we're going to need a guitarist who can jazz things up with interesting riffs and melodies. Someone who's not afraid to enter new territory. Such as...
St. Vincent!
10,000 volts to your spine. That's what St. Vincent will give you. With frenetic playing and complex arrangements, St. Vincent's guitar work will vibrate your vertebrae and tickle your temporal lobe. When Thom's voice fades into the background, the trip will die down and the hop will move to the foreground as Annie and Les trade off blistering solos and licks.
Sample:
Has this gotten weird enough for you yet? No? Good, because we're about to kick it up a notch. Introducing...
Björk!
One of my favorite artists, Björk Guðmundsdóttir is the cosmic soup from which the rest of Myoclonic Jerk is borne. A breathtaking artist with the ability to rescue forgotten sounds from the murk of the unconscious, Björk has the compositional talent to raise her bandmates' ideas to new levels. Her penchant for writing in uncommon time signatures and use of offbeat musical phrasing will be no hurdle for the rest of the band, as they are all also incredibly adept musicians. She will be contributing heavily to the band's songwriting, especially when it comes to Peart's drum pad.
Samples:
(listen to the drums at the end!)
It is also worth noting that Björk and Thom have worked together previously, so there is no doubt that their relationship to bloom with Myclonic Jerk.
And here's a cool mashup someone made of Radiohead and Bjork:
So what's left? Well, not a whole lot - because I've already drafted a highly talented and wonderfully creative group of artists - but I think there's someone who can still help take it up a notch. Someone to bring everything together, someone with a deep understanding of composition who can still produce an engaging and modern sound. And that someone is....
Clint Mansell!
You probably know him best from "Lux Aeterna" (the Requiem for a Dream theme), but his talent does not stop there. Mansell has written the score for several movies, including Pi, The Fountain, and Swan Lake. An absolute master of creative dynamics and emotional composition, Clint will not only contribute to the songwriting and production, but he will provide keyboard assistance as well. At first I thought it might be odd bringing a composer onto the band, but given that so many of the other artists create their art on an avant-garde and transcendent level, I felt like Clint Mansell would fit right in. His ability to transition between sounds and his keen ear for movement and timing will be a great boon in guiding the band's sound, giving each artist just the right amount of shine so that they all synergize into a greater cohesive whole. The crescendos! The diminutions! It will be beautiful.
Also, I needed someone to play keyboard/MIDI pad.

Recap:
Myoclonic Jerk will be an avant-garde experimental rock/trip-hop band that deftly weaves electronic abrasion with feathery, lulling vocals, while retaining just enough modern classical composition to keep things sounding oddly familiar.

Songwriting/Vocals/Programming: Björk

It's been fun. I'll make poll page tomorrow and run it through the weekend. Unless you guys would rather do a short poll and then run the top 16 through a bracket. It is March after all. If you haven't already, post your band as you'd like to see them displayed. A band name might look nice, but not mandatory.
James Brown and the Soul Maggots Frontman/Lead Vocals: James Brown Guitar: Eddie Hazel - backing vocals Bass: Larry Graham - backing vocals Drums: Ginger Baker Misc: Herbie Hanc.o.c.k. - piano/keyboard/synths/keytar/vocoder, band leader horn arranger. Misc: J. Spaceman - guitar/harmonica/piano/autoharp/dulcimer/backing vocals
My band is obviously going to have a funky, jazzy, soulful sound at it's core, but also be able to go into heavenly, psychedelic gospel jams with J. Spaceman's influence. They can make you dance, they can rip your face, or they can take you to space. Also, yeah I am cheating and saying that these boys are gonna be bringing some very talented horn players and a gospel choir with them, so yeah you're just gonna have to deal with that.
My band: Modern Industry Vocals-PJ Harvey (lead vocals) Guitar-Josh Homme (also backing vocals) Guitar-Jack White (also backing vocals) Guitar-Neil Young (also songwriter, vocals) Bass-Paul McCartney ( also songwriter, vocals, piano) Drums-Keith Moon
What does this band sound like? Fucking Rock. Lead by 2 of the greatest songwriters of all time. 2 of the best guitarists of our time join Uncle Neil in this three pronged guitar attack. Wailing away on the drums is a fucking animal Keith Moon. PJ Harvey handles the lead vocals. Can she hang with these boys? Damn right she can. I'd like to see you question her. But this band is not just fierce all the time, they can definitely slow it down and come up with the some of the most beautiful sounds ever made, with some tremendous melodes. They can do it all.
John Bonham's mammoth drum solos and Peter Hook's blistering basslines would be an absolute powerhouse - arguably the best rhythm section of the entire draft. With such a rock solid foundation, how to add even more octane to that tank of awesomeness? Hmmm... how we throw in perhaps the last great rock n roll icon on lead guitar, pair him off with one half of the most successful songwriting duo in history on rhythm guitar, and ice the cake with Morrissey's honeyed vox and sprinkles of Ray Manzarek's jazzy keys?
Every band member has one foot in punk and the other in the blues, which makes for a cohesive sound. Add in three singers who are all equally adept at a punk growl or a melodic coo, and it becomes a dynamic force. john, Kurt, Morrissey - their songs would be introspective, sometimes strange, always gorgeous and usually dancey. Only Kurt Cobain could release Bleach and then go on to do Leadbelly covers. Only Morrissey could sound so heavenly against the thrash of a guitar like Johnny's. Only Ray could back Jim's proto-punk vox with those signature jazzy fills.
My band, the Peach Pie Revue, is an R&B, soul, and rock band. Anchored by a lock-tight, jazz funky rhythm section of Moore and Jones, Ray and Tina will share vocal duties, with Charles bringing the sweet Southern Soul and Tina slinging hot fire on barn burning breakdowns. Duane Allman brings more of his delta blues and Muscle Shoals roots to the forefront here, complementing Charles' piano with beautiful slide work, rhythmic blues riffs, and explosive guitar solos. Bobby Keys ties it all together with his horns, adding syncopated sax rhythms, classic Stax style horn accents, or blistering leads. Equally at home with blues standards, funky southern 60's soul, or country-tinged rock, the Peach Pie Revue:
Vocalist- Tina Turner Guitar - Duane Allman Bass- John Paul Jones Drums- Stanton Moore Misc- Bobby Keys - Sax Misc-Ray Charles - Piano
Michael Jackson - vocals, frontman Nile Rodgers - guitar/producer Rick James - 2nd guitar/vocals Stevie Wonder - keys/vocals Questlove - drums/vocals Meshell Ndegeocello - bass/vocals
Band Leader/Main Writer/Backup Everything: Trent Reznor Main Vocals: Serj Tankian Guitar: Prince Guitar: Dimebag Darrel Bass: Jack Bruce Drums: Danny Carey
I didn't quote Jaz's band here, but just look up 4 spots, it's a thing of beauty,
I feel really good about my lineup. I feel like the sound it will produce and the people within it will work the most cohesively of any of the bands formed.

My original band was going to be Claypool/Kendrick/Questlove/Janelle Monae/?/?, but then I got stoned and drafted St. Vincent and Katy Mae drafted Questlove and my original plan was shot all to hell. Even though I ended up scrambling to find a new direction, I must say that I'm incredibly satisfied with how my band turned out.

In honor of my now retired fantasy hockey team and since I'm to lazy to come up with a name that is cool I give you all "The Band Formally Known As The High Broth Drinkers"
Sound: Funky Rock Jams. Have the ability to add some hip hop, R&B, soul and blues also. Everything from short poppy funk to long spacy jams are in their wheelhouse. Stoo and Friendship can be a straight up horn section or add the electronic element or both. PrometheYeezus told everyone what happens when Nigel hits the stage in his Lettuce post in the band of the day series. Jake can play anything well, Isaac is a beast and within 5 years you will all be seeing TAUK in a good billing spot at Roo maybe sooner. Yes my horn section is a complete band on their own but if you don't like it fuck off and don't vote for me lol. I find them the perfect horn section due to the versatility.
In the sticking with my people theme 5 of the 6 I have hung out with at least once although 1 of them I wasn't aware was him until a week or 2 later.
Now for who didn't make the cut:
Elvis, Dereck Trucks, Jen Durkin, John Ferrara, Reid Matthis, Kyle Hollingsworth, Paige McConnell, Tal Wilkenfeld, Alan Evans, Eric Krasno, Eli Winderman, "The Shade Horns", Dominic Lalli, Borham Lee, Adam Deitch, Ryan Listasis, Steve Kimock
Finally I leave you a video of 1 who was the last cut. Nephrok of the Nephrok! Allstars. Reason I couldn't take him was I needed more versatility then just a singer. But if anyone needs an amazing frontman I'm not sure the round is over so check him out covering Sly:
Lead Vocals/frontman: David Byrne Lead Guitar: Tom Verlaine Backup Guitar: Elvis Costello Bass: Kim Deal Drums/Misc.: James Murphy Keyboard: Andrew Farriss
My band produces a sound that is best described as a mash-up of new-wave and post-punk music. The Straight Jackets often have the pop, dancy grooves of Talking Heads and INXS, but with Kim Deal and Tom Verlaine providing a rougher edge. Every member has a hand in the vocals (except Farriss) on at least one song, allowing a great variety in their sound. Honestly, new-wave and post-punk are just two of my favorite genres and I knew that all of these artists would work well together because of their histories in those genres. If you like new wave and/or post punk, the Straight Jackets should get your vote. Most people made funk or classic rock supergroups and that is just too easy to earn a vote IMO. Whatever, here's to dreaming that this band would ever happen! Though, aside from Andrew Farriss and Tom Verlaine, nobody in my group is really a stretch.
