Ahhh yes so excited that they put Childish and Phoenix on the same (and Saturday nonetheless). Day Pass bought. Would have liked Royal Blood,The Avalanches or Francis&TL as well but can't get greedy. Car Seat Headrest and MRvsKP are a nice consolation prize.
With the daily lineup I realized this was a good idea to do Roo and Panorama instead. Just not a big fan of live hip-hop and didn't realize how much was on this lineup until now.
Is it just me or was the daily lineup announced WAY earlier this year than last year? I'm thinking that 3-day sales must be slow which is why they want to try to hype up certain days to get more buyers. That's not a diss to the festival as I think this lineup is as solid as most of the Gov Ball lineups.
For the record, my ranking of Gov Ball 3-day lineups (not counting the first two years) goes 2014, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2015

damn 2013 was good enough to get 2 spots?
Ha thanks for catching. That'd be 2015 in last place. When Drake and Deadmau5 are you two headliners, you lose my interest.
Sunday is so packed for me, it looks like I'm gonna have to make some real tough choices. If they put tool vs avalanches I will cry because they are my 1and 2. Anyone willing to make a clash finder for this? In terms of govball 2015' while I agree drake and deadmau5 were not impressive my headliners were mmj, Ryan Adams, and Lana. The undercard was, in my opinion, absolutely amazing. Friday could have been the top day of govball for me ever.
EDIT: The biggest thing I was unsure about was The Head and the Heart and Rae Sremmurd. I feel like THatH should be on the main stage, but wasn't sure where to put RS where they wouldn't conflict with another hip-hop artist

Avalanches is nowhere near big enough to close opposite Tool.
he/they '12 - Firefly '13 - Firefly, Made In America '14 - Firefly, Made In America '15 - Mountain Jam (Sunday), Firefly, Pitchfork, Made In America '16 - Boston Calling, Firefly, Osheaga, Made In America, Roots Picnic NYC '17 - Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Firefly (Sunday), Pitchfork, Day For Night '18 - Boston Calling, Mountain Jam, Osheaga '19 - Form, Firefly (Sunday) '22 - Boston Calling, Firefly '24 - Solid Sound, Soundside
Avalanches vs Warpaint and Parquet Courts vs Skepta would both hurt, but that's also how Gov Ball rolls when it comes to my tastes so I could see that.
I've already gotten over Phoenix v Wu Tang, but the inevitable Childish Gambino/Head & The Heart conflict will be sad for me.
That should not be a hard decision.. Head and the Heart play all over the place, all the time. This (thus far) is Gambino's only announced festival date.

This is not a slight: Can someone please explain to me what they like about Phoenix?
Also, please listen to Doctor Doctor and don't skip anything for the Head and the Heart. I have seen them 4 times. It was 3 times too many. And I really like them.

I don't think that is inevitable. You need a pretty big act to play pre-pre-headliner on the main stage at 4:45. Last year it was Of Monsters and Men, Chvrches, and Lord Huron. The Head and the Heart is a equal act.
Plus if you look at Saturday the undercard is not deep with mainstream acts like those. Who else would get that spot...Local Natives? Rae Stremmurd?

The problem I had with that spot was that the Head and the Heart are pretty much the only non-hip hop artist the right size to put up against Childish. I don't see them putting Rae Sremmurd or A$AP Ferg at the same time as him, so they're the only ones that make sense. Otherwise I'd agree that the Head and the Heart would probably be a mainstage act.

Seeing Phoenix live will convince any non-believer. That 2014 Gov Ball set was just amazing. Bonus point for seeing Sofia Capolla and their kids on the other side of the barrier!

Phoenix live, outside, after the sun has set, man that's a set not to sleep on. The stage production for the Bankrupt! tour was amazing, hope they step it up even more this tour.

I wouldn't be skipping Gambino for anything that could potentially conflict. His backing band are the tits and his set list is dope. He was great at Roo last year.
