Also thought Nancy from LCD had a nice set before Lorde. And although it wasnt entirely a DJ set; Rufus Du Sol killed it.
I think Gov Ball should take a page out of Pano's book and snag stuff like Theo Parrish, Omar-S, Motor City Drum Ensemble, etc. Perhaps some bigger names like Solomun, Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, etc.
This is a Live Nation fest, probably never gonna happen lol

I only went Sunday this year and I did my best with the mid-day conflicts. With GovBall’s staggered schedule, I’d normally choose a full set over splitting time, but I found myself bouncing around more this year.
1. The Avalanches – everything I had hoped for from this set musically plus excellent visuals. Especially the videos during Subways and Frontier Psychiatrist, which were fantastic. 2. Parquet Courts – commanded the main stage. Human Performance songs were great live. 3. Tool – thoroughly enjoyed my first Tool experience. Didn’t have any problems with the fan base and while the crowd was noticeably small for a headliner, everyone there was passionately engaged from start to finish. 4. Warpaint (Skepta) - stayed for most of Warpaint but wanted to catch a little Skepta. Plus the sound at Big Apple was hit or miss during the day and all but faded away toward the end of their set. They’re unbelievably tight tho. 5. Mac DeMarco (Royal Blood) - same as my first conflict. Gave most of my time to Mac but watched the ending of Royal Blood standing outside the tent waiting for Avalanches. 6. Cage the Elephant (Phantogram) - had passed on seeing Cage a few times before so I gave them the majority of my time here. I definitely enjoyed them more than I expected, great energy. 7. The Orwells - where my day began. Combined with the rain, this set helped set the tone for the day. 8. AIR - I was excited with the idea of seeing AIR as the sun set, however being scheduled between Cage and Tool was slightly deflating, especially during the first half of the set. 9. Zane Lowe – started off strong, he was certainly working hard up there trying to mix 80 songs in 40 mins. However, the show began to transition away from the hip hop / trap he was mixing, and I left to situate myself for Parquet Courts.
Gov Ball could benefit from booking a better DJ set or sets next year in the vein of Jamie xx.
I thought Robson and Parker were really fun
I thought Zane Lowe was great as well. For most of the first half he played deeper cuts, but the 2nd half he just gave it to the crowd with Kendrick and other mainstream stuff. Cool that it was his first set in 2 years. Also crazy how when he started out none of his stuff was plugged in. He made the best of a pretty shitty situation between that, the rainy weather, and relatively small early day crowd.

Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief
Worst quote of the weekend goes to some guy at Danny Brown who said "Bro, I'm gonna be using my Juul so much during Chance tonight. Like you don't even know. I've been looking forward to Juuling during his set for weeks"

reminds me of some Jersey bros next to me on the subway on Saturday talking about how much they've been "Zoodling it up" lately and how the mandolin they use perfectly slice their zoodles. Also mentioned how it goes great in a red sauce bolognese. Minutes after they got off some other bro got on and announced to the car that he had finally lost his virginity after 23 years and how he hopes he won't have to wait another 23.
Still recovering from how sick that Tool set was. The visuals were incredible and they sounded so tight. Cage had so much energy. The frontman Shultz did the crowd surf deal at ACL too but he went really far into the crowd here. Air was a great chill break in between Cage and Tool. Franz were okay but messed up and had to restart a song I think. Mac DeMarco was superb as well, so much so that I think I may go to his show opening for Flaming Lips in September. Was glad he didn't play Still Together. That songs his Under The Bridge or Stairway (cheesy and overplayed). I thought this festival was really well ran and different from the other ones I've been. I will be back next year for sure. Would love to see the Foos rock NYC.

I have no idea what this means. A google search of juul comes up with a vape. Are they really talking about how they're excited to vape nicotine at Chance? Is this a thing with Chance specifically, or just a bro thing?

I don't even know what to say to that.
Juuls are really trendy vapes right now. And yes he meant nicotine. It's just a bro thing, I remembered the quote so well because I feel like there are way more exciting things a festival has to offer than having a nicotine buzz during a specific act

While it sounds like all of those guys are really cringey, noodles are fucking delicious. But, I couldn't imagine hearing that exchange in person and having to keep a straight face. You better have high fived that dude who got laid!

Sunday was easily the best day. A Kiwi swapped me his spot on the rail for Warpaint for a pack of Sour Straws (he was there for Franz and I gave the spot back afterwards). Apparently me making an ass of myself jumping and singing made it on the screen.
Also, anyone else see the old lady at The Avalanches? She really made my day -- she was singing and dancing the whole time and just really picked up the vibe. Also met Katyperryofficial at Air, super chill dude. Caught about an hour of Tool before calling it.
Warpaint's Irving Plaza show was epic -- there was a tall dude so sweaty and happy he must have been on all of the ecstasy in NYC for that show.
