That's where I saw my first Hozier show on Halloween 2014. He came out wrapped like the invisible man (from the neck up, anyway). He took the bandages off quickly enough.
I love the show booking, but hate the timing. I vowed to not do any indoor shows in the two week run up to Boston Calling, in case I were to catch Covid at a show and have to miss the festival. On the other hand, Hozier has become one of my top five favorite currently recording and performing musical artists. Then again, I have seen him four times and have a ticket to see one of his two waterfront shows this fall.
new 240cap venue opening in Medford center called Deep Cuts, Alex P announced it in the get 2 the gig discord
this is huge because it will essentially serve as the new great scott
That's very cool, but it's a bad location for late night shows for anyone dependent upon the MBTA. The only buses which run through there are infrequent and take very circuitous routes. I went to a comedy show at the Chevalier in 2019 and was shocked at how long it took me to travel each way, since I live literally one town over. I can walk from my apartment and cross the Medford line in around 10-12 minutes, but it takes two buses for me to get to Medford center (and it would require two buses and two subway lines for me to shop at Wegmans and Aldi near Wellington, which I'd dearly love to be able to do.)

also buy a bicycle ffs
Are you serious? I'm a 64 year old man with a herniated disc, bursitis, and eyesight problems. I wouldn't ride a bike in broad daylight, much less at 1 am.
Speaking of transportation problems, the MBTA may be shutting down the Blue Line at night for repair work. The article is behind a paywall, so I don't know whether dates are mentioned, but this could make a huge mess of things at Re:SET.
(Sure, they'll run shuttle buses, but shuttle capacity can't even begin to address the number of people leaving Suffolk Downs at the end of the night who will need to get back into Boston to make connection to the other three subway branches.)

you act as if we have the slightest idea about any of these things
though i guess in retrospect we should have known from your ceaseless complaining about transportation that you're older than everyone else here
I prefer not to drive into the city on a work night. Mainly because I don't like driving back to RI at midnight and having a quick turnaround the next morning. I accept there's limitations and deal with it.
part of what i love abt going to school in cambridge is being im walking proximity to the sinclair and a super short drive to basically any other boston venue

Not going to dox myself but I get that, I'm walking distance for a different venue in the city that I really like the bookings at
Over the years, I've seen more positive things about Lyft on social media, and there seem to be fewer incidents of violence tied to Lyft.
I suppose that it couldn't hurt to try Lyft some time. I just really like the concept of old school taxis. You don't need to bring your phone into it, no ratings, you just hail a cab or walk up to the nearby cab stand, and a taxi takes you where you want to go. You're even allowed to pay cash.
It just seems like such a hassle to log into an app and go through a series of data entry fields, and then wait for who knows how long for the ride to arrive, instead of waving at a cab and having it stop and pick you up.
I winced when I read that they were also looking at a location in Arlington. There's a good chance that the Arlington location they were considering is within walking distance of my apartment, so I may have just missed out on having a indie rock club in my neighborhood.

I'd like to get there at some point but generally GTTG doesn't really book shows that are my taste most of the time (as much as I want to support them as an indie promoter). So I'll probably be there later rather than sooner

idk, i don't listen to a ton of electronic stuff, and the stuff i do i suppose is relatively poppy... but i recognize like 6 of these names including the top 4, and i think i actively like Griz, Madeon, and Elderbrook from what i've heard over the years. i actually might try to go
if madeon was live and they at least had Flume and Mag bay like one of their other lineups id consider a single day but this doesnt do anything for me
The 8,500 capacity of Suffolk Downs probably had something to do with having a less impressive lineup in Boston than at other stops. That capacity likely took the venue out of contention for most touring festivals (not that there are a ton of them anymore), like Outlaw Music Festival.
