I mean maybe DP haven't reunited as headliners because they weren't being offered headliner deals.
Ever thought of that?
DP: Hello?
FF: Hi this is Firefly Music Festival. We want you in Delaware this year.
DP: That's great.
FF: We're prepared to offer you a 5pm set on the Backyard Stage. It's a great opportunity because Marshmello goes on at 7 and the crowd should start forming early.

They would make for a good opening act for Marshmello. I agree with that.
I don't know, but ranking Chance last in a 6 musician list where the other options include Mumford, KOL and TOP is as stupid as being a Trump voter
This is the darkest timeline.
OK, while I am not fully familiar with Chance the Rapper's work once I saw his rise and multiple festival headliner status I gave him a more in depth listen. I was not impressed. He's not a bad artist, but he definitely didn't stand out. What makes him a headliner? Why is he so popular? If you compare his popularity to similar artists he doesn't seem to match up. Let's take the top 3 videos from a few similar artist's Youtube pages (artists determined from recommended videos on the side of Chance's videos) and add up their view totals. And yes while Youtube may not be the best way to determine an artist's skill, it can help determine popularity:
Chance the Rapper - 77m + 11m + 9m = 97 million The Weeknd - 996m + 734m + 565m = 2.29 billion Kendrick Lamar - 88m + 85m + 75m = 248 million Schoolboy Q - 119m + 93m + 49m = 261 million Rae Sremmurd - 509m + 352m + 238m = 1.08 billion Childish Gambino - 85m + 59m + 34m = 178 million Post Malone - 240m + 30m +13m = 293 million Even Lil Dicky has more! - 64m + 43m + 25m = 132 million
The other 5 headliners I ranked over Chance have more views too
Muse - 113m + 92m + 64m = 269 million Flo + Machine - 75m + 62m + 47m = 184 million Mumford - 87m + 31m + 28m = 146 million 21 Pilots - 828m + 599m + 128m = 1.55 billion KOL - 198m + 150m + 31m = 379 million
Why is Chance the Rapper a headliner? What am I missing? What song haven't I heard yet, please tell me. His popularity just doesn't stack up when compared. I just don't know why all these festivals are throwing him out as a headliner. Who is he related to?
My friend just texted me and said she feels that John Mayer is going to be at Firefly. Then, I saw his tour dates and he has the Friday slot open. Can I add fuel to the fire? Could he be the mystery man?

acid rap is also still wildly popular. and you can also get higher billings when your live show has such a strong reputation.

Print this out, write "resume" on top, and mail it to Livenation.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

He is also super popular through Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment.

I'm not sure where to start. The most glaring mistake with this way of comparing is you aren't adjusting for how current the songs are. Maybe try again with Top 3 songs from the last 2 years?
And this might not be possible but if it were I'd say adjust the views to only reflect those counted from the relevant markets that you're looking at. Google probably has these analytics available, but maybe only on the uploader side.

dead and co tour.. mayer's supposedly doing his own tour in april though

not really.
Popular definitely wasn't the word I was looking for. He just has other music to add to his discography. I personally think he has a lot to be headliner material.
