It would be in perfect Bonnaroo fashion to book Sufjan the year after he played every other fest. A lot of people are convinced Planetarium will be released later this year which would be a great late night which show (to get drowned out by the Kalliope). Pretty much just book him and let him do whatever he wants, his live shows are always different and always incredible.
I mostly just wanted a thread to talk about Sufjan <3
I definitly wouldn't miss this. Is Impossible Soul a song he does frequently? I know he did it at Coachella when he only had a 50 minute set or something. I just really want to experience that song live. I'd probably cry.

Coachella was the first time he had played it in like 5 years, but he always played it on the Age Of Adz tour. I'd say try to catch him on the current tour if you really want to see that song though, cause I doubt he'll still be doing the Age of Adz shows next year. I'd say a Planetarium tour is the most likely to happen next year.
I wish Sufjan would play Djohariah live. I don't think he ever has but it could be almost as amazing as Impossible Soul.

I don't think he's coming anywhere near me this year.
Does anyone know if his Red Rocks show this month is going to be Age Of Adz-y or Carrie and Lowel heavy? Would be happy with both but I saw his Coachella show so if I can make it out I would like it to be Carrie and Lowel

But Sufjan is also my favorite musician and I live 15 minutes from Red Rocks. It'll be a great show and if you have the opportunity to go I'd say it'll definitely be worth it.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Admittedly I haven't dug too much into Sufjan. Where should I start?
If you want some serious feelings listen to Carrie and Lowell
Greetings from Michigan, then Seven Swans, then Illinoise, then Carrie and Lowell (going chronologically). If you haven't shed a tear by the end of that four-album run, you are dead inside and I cannot help you.
Age of Adz is also magnificent. But incites a very different type of feels, IMO, than his folksier stuff.

You're both wrong.
Oh?
Pray do give us your wisdom, seasoned soul that you are.

I'm just kidding there's no right answer, you could go in a lot of directions since all of his albums are so different. I'd still say start with Illinois then either go to Seven Swans or Adz
The question is where would he play LN? Because, he doesn't fit roo's LN Which booking trend at all and he'd be amazing getting a LN tent slot like Sigur in '08 but he's too big for that (I think) So, do they stick him at Pre-headliner on the What? I think that is the most likely and fitting spot for him logistically.

I think it would mostly just depend on what kind of show he felt like doing. If he wanted to do a show similar to what he's touring at fests this year or if they're touring Planetarium then I think LN Which would be the best spot for it. If he wanted to do a show more like what he did at Eaux Claires it would fit better preheadlining on What,

What is this planetarium stuff that everyone keeps talking about and how do people even know what it's gonna sound like if it hasn't been released yet?

I could see either type of show closing the Which before the headliner. Sufjan > Arcade Fire, like M83 > LCD

It's a project Sufjan did with Bryce Dessner and Nico Muhly. They did a short tour of the songs a few years ago and didn't actually release an album for it but there are live rips of it. Last year Nico said they had recorded it and would release it after Sufjan finished touring C&L, but now that Sufjan is doing this short festival tour I'm hoping it'll get released after that. Also Sufjan has been posting stuff about the universe on his website lately, Sufjan.com

Ahhhh, great! I wonder if it would possibly be booked/billed under a different name if it has all three of them... Have they mentioned touring or is that an assumption people are hoping for because they played it before and they're waiting for him to finish touring before they release it?
