Conor Oberst just announced a new solo album (songs from Ruminations recorded w/ full band + more) that has a guest list that basically reads like a Newport lineup. Playing Brooklyn and Boston July 20 and 21. He's a lock, right? At least in some form (*cough* Monsters of Folk)
Partial guest list: Felice Brothers as backing band (for tour too) w/ Jim Keltner on drums Jim James M. Ward Gillian Welch Blake Mills Jonathan Wilson
Just preordered that album... comes with an autographed print while supplies last.
In other news, I don't know how to post pictures from my phone otherwise I'd screenshot it but Pecknold posted another album clip on Instagram a couple days ago which I commented will sound great at Newport. He replied with one of those sly smirking emojis... soooo...
