Has Lake Street Dive gotten too big to play as a group?
I don't understand this question
I meant that the group has been playing larger venues of late, and as someone noted, Rachel Price will sometimes show as a solo in support of other performers. Would love to see them on the MainStage. Even after 4 years at Newport I'm sort of a newbie at this.
That said -- Lake Street Dive announced at the grandaddy fest, Hudson River Clearwater, then playing Greenfield , MA July 15.

Do you not remember that Roger Waters played this fest? They'd be decently high on the lineup, but they're far from being too big.
Also, fwiw the bassist just announced a solo album with plans to tour. Could potentially see her doing a solo set if they play
Just saw a "solid rumor" that D and T will be playing MOCA Solid Sound, if that's true, I don't know if that boosts my hopes or not. Still far enough away to not have a conflict, and a festival as well.

Seems strange Solid Sound would book someone more likely to appear higher than Wilco on the lineup.
With the rumor of Phish's Baker Dozen over various weekends in the summer at Madison Square Garden, unsure we'd see trey but if the rumors turn false, I could see TAB playing before D & T and then have TAB back D & T. OR....We could have a Dave & Friends reunion?!?
Interesting that they have a "open invite" with M.I.A.
I'm sure they kind of have an open invite with most artists of a certain stature. If Metallica wanted to play I'd bet Newport would find a way to make it happen. But I guess we should expect MIA now!

Hope I'm doing these responses correctly. Ha. But yes, she has a new project going, and Rachel is one of the backup singers on at least one cut. Of course, I well remember Roger Waters. I think it helped in booking Waters that he is such an activist. In my wildest fantasies, I hear him spreading the word to his "daff" friends that they need to take part in all this. I expect some interesting surprises this yea.
Finally got a chance to look at the Bingo cards. NFF excels at finding the relatively unknown and i - me- knew a lot of the names on those cards. Next year we need the obscure/unknown/ new solo artist bingo cards. Thank you cath and Vinnie the Eel for including Hamilton... this dude is catching my ear a lot.. hearing FeliceB's, Deer tick, a tiny hint of Jim.. Story teller!
Looks like Dylan will be playing Firefly. Weird to see him 5th on the poster.
I mean all of those other artists can fill arenas. I'm pretty sure he was 3rd at Bonnaroo in '04 and it's not like he's gotten any better or bigger since then. And it's Firefly.
'13 Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Boston Calling '14 Mountain Jam, Boston Calling '15 Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, Boston Calling '16 Mountain Jam, Firefly, Newport Folk Fest '17 Mountain Jam, Newport Folk Fest, Boston Calling '18 Mountain Jam, Newport Folk Fest '19 Newport Folk Fest '22 Newport Folk Fest
This is a down year for Nola Jazz. Check out that sub-thread. People are pretty bummed. BUT, it is always a great time. Music ends at 7pm but it is not unusual if you have been to Newport. The late night shows are usually better than the fest.
Yep! I wrote some time back that I had seen a note saying acts not announced until July -- the "Sweet Dream." A few of you, thankfully, offered a dose of reality. Now I see -- it's "the 2017 schedule will be posted in early July!" Ahh, the schedule. Only was able to buy Friday tix so far, and attend one other day. so I'll be playing Bingo until July!

They announce what day an artist is playing when they're first announced. "Schedule" is referring to actual set times
