lurker around these parts for the last few weeks but figured it was time to jump in the pool. first nff for me this july, very excited.
Jason Isbell dropped a "stay tuned" video for his new record today.
Seeing as he's played the fort before, hoping this makes him a likely possibility. Have seen him and the boys half a dozen time, every one better than the last, looking forward to the new record.
And while we're out it, why not go for a DBT reunion set. american band is certainly one of my top 5 of the last year.
Unfortunately, Jason said he's not playing festivals this year because he doesn't want his fans to see an abbreviated set
Anyone going to the parlor room for lady lamb tonight?
I went last night. Good stuff. She takes requests so it's a good chance to hear a rarity or obscurity. Right at the top she said "here are the songs I CANT do solo acoustic: ......" but anything else was fair game.
Ended up getting ten, tangles and crane your neck for requests

Tasjan said in a podcast that he is playing this year.
I've been wondering what the protocol is on this; guessing most are asked to not include NFF on their tour lists until they are announced. Do they usually have everyone confirmed by now or is Jay + team still very much working on it until the summer? Not sure if these are known facts, but still very much curious!

I don't believe they're known facts but here's what I'd guess: For artist announcements, it's really on a case-by-case basis. Fleet Foxes are definitely one they wouldn't want to be spoiled, but a lot of the justification for the rolling lineup is that it allows artists to be booked and not announce until they can. The biggest example of that is Jack White, who didn't announce Newport until right after he played Gov Ball likely due to the radius clause. I think for the most part Newport is working around artist schedules rather the other way around. Hence announcing Dispatch on the same day as they announce the rest of the tour.
As for how long they're booking, I don't think it's completely booked yet, and if you count the museum stage stuff, I'm sure it goes into the summer, but for stuff on the main stages, I'd think they're done around April-ish. That's all just guessing though.
Very pleased with all the artists announced so far. I started listening to Marlon Williams and can't get enough of him. The Paste Studio recordings are excellent. I just purchased tickets for Lewis Del Mar locally. I wonder if he will be one of the new to the scene, fringe artists at NFF? Also Local Natives are coming through my area on tour---maybe a stop at Newport? They were at Way Over Yonder in 2014.
Chicano Batman at Green River, fingers crossed they come to the Fort too! Also finally got around to listening to Marlon Williams and love him. His voice reminds me of Roy Orbison mixed with Jeff Buckley
On a different note, here are some potential artists whose names I don't think I've seen tossed out:
Natalie Prass (just announced opening dates for Whitney, seems about time she plays Newport) Chicano Batman Josh Ritter Kevin Morby Elektric Voodoo (new project from Grace Potter & the Nocturnals' Scott Tournet, arguably better than anything GPN ever did) Lissie Waxahatchee
I will be in heaven if Natalie Prass and/or Josh Ritter show up!
